Hilton has low pay for the hotels here. Yet they are opening new ones still, like on Maui. These people have no shame to let the people who make them wealthy go on strike cause the wages don't match the rising cost of living. The locals will start to turn their back on tourism even more so if you cant pay what's right.
I don't know enough about who is at fault but these things will ruin tourism. We are scheduled to arrive soon and were just now made aware of this. Too late to change travel arrangements now. I doubt if I will ever travel to Hawaii again. To expensive to throw all MY hard earned money away.
Keiki and local students pay attention: A lost sense of empowerment over one's quality of life is worse than returning to a working relationship you are not happy with. Find a new greater quality of life. Your power is in your choices. Agency. Self efficacy. Freedom in your quality of life and your choice of a quality of life. The future is hopeful in your choices. Wage slavery is still slavery and surrender of your time, quality of life, and messaging that the status quo is remotely tolerable let alone acceptable. Model and message to your children that they are worth more than what is offered meager wage. Self worth is intrinsic and not validated externally, especially in this market value of a high cost of survival. Not. Worth. It. Period.
Was there in 2019 ? During last United 5 strike, staying at the Moana, noisy strikers everywhere, street, on the beach. Cancelled our November '24 Trip, and that's staying at neighboring unaffected by strike building. Not going thru that 'noise' again.
I’m staying in Hawaii, not even at that resort and all you can hear is their screeching and drums. They start before the legal time of 7am and go until after the legal time of 10pm. They screech all day long. I cannot believe they have done this for a month straight. I feel so bad for the residents that have been living here that are having their own home life disrupted by these folks. I get that you want better pay but it’s been a month and Hilton isn’t budging
Can't the Hawaii State Tourism officials read these comments and know how the tourist view a Hawaii vacation?! They work and save money all year to have a vacation here. Not to listen to racket from the HHV Housekeepers that feel it's not enough that they are making $27 hr plus automatic gratuity, and also a pension from Local 5. They have it better here than where they come from working in the rice fields for $8 day with no benefits. If the HHV were smart they could hire an outside contractor to clean the rooms and let them pay for their benefits like other properties do. That's the American way for companies to maximize their profits right?!

Hilton manages the hotel. The owners are a different entity.

If you don't like your job QUIT, there's a lot a other jobs you can find,,,, it's a open market.
That's not the point. These workers are tenured, will lose benefits and pension benefits
Striking for a month just walking around in circles doing nothing. Hows it working for you now?
There going to win..
