I'm gonna say it, the colors for the phase 3 looks pretty damn accurate to me. But I think we must also consider that all the pictures of these locomotives are from the 80s and every picture I looked at the colors look completely different from picture to picture. Some look closer to the model than others. I've looked at the model on both my monitors and my phone.

I'm a driver on the Rc class here in Sweden. It's really interesting to see this. Many things are very similar to our locos, some a bit different.
As for the start up procedure, unless Amtrak did things different we never turn off the breakers. Usually they're all on and you just turn off the battery switch when stabling the loco.
The resets beneath the breakers are motor protection breakers for higher current systems, such as traction motors and blower motors. Unless something acts up you never have to touch them.
The sounds seems a bit off compared to the real thing. Air and independent brakes can certainly be heard IRL. I'm also missing the master breaker, main and auxillary compressors. IRL you need to run the aux compressor for a few minutes to even raise the pantograph. As you said the traction motors should also be a lot more audiable. At high speeds there are a lot of wind/track noise irl too though, so they got that right. Driving with the engine room door open would also be stupidly loud.
Feel free to ask any questions about the real loco (the swedish ones at least)! 😁

As a swede and a huge fan of the RC loco family we have here (Still running strong, RC4 included) I absolutely love this model. I laughewd when you buthered the pronountiation of the full words of ASEA. 😂

The fourth of july popsicles reference is hilarious and I totally see where you're coming from. Still, it's incredible seeing The Toaster looking so good after the ancient earlier version.

You’re definitely right about one in Illinois. In fact that’s engine 945, still in its original form without any conversions.

I'm no engineer, but where I work, while we were helping remodel the store, I saw a shelf that was so dirty, the color looked just like the weathering on top the AEM-7. Trust me Sean, when you don't clean dust, dirt and debris off a surface consistently, that's going to end up being the result. You'll have a dirty, yellow, sulfur-colored muck on whatever you didn't manage to consistently clean. Locomotives are no exception, they're not exempt from looking like they were shat on by a 3-month-old baby.

Not bad, the bell is where the alerter should be. The bell valve on the DC units was just under the desk below the window.

Reppo idk if you see this but you got my respect, great modeling, lights, bell and some sounds should be improved but overall really good job.
LE. I must agree with sp, inside sounds like they are outside are kinda annoying

Most likely UTS or true rail simulations will have a enhancement pack for this soon.

@@CTSLRailfanLove what you and your team did with the amfleet mod! It’s very nice to use and play with! I do have one question though, would it be possible to include the MARC and Septa variants of the AEM-7 when you guys do the AEM-7 enhancement pack?

You got a penalty after you let the alerter time out. Not sure if it’s modeled in TS or not but next you can try putting the automatic brake in suppression and acknowledging the alerter

The bell sounds way off! Some AEM-7s were originally built with bronze, steel, or brass bells. Several of the bronze or brass bells were later replaced with steel (on the DC units)

I wanna know why the hell AEM-7s weren't used for freight since they have 7,000 fucking horsepower.

    • @aarondivel1752
      @aarondivel1752 9 месяцев назад +1

Horse power isn't everything. Beyond them being geared for passenger service, not freight, and having cowl bodies, Amtrak doesn't move freight. Csx, ns, conrail shared assets, so on and so forth move the freight on the corridors. It's not worth it to the freight roads to invest in electric locomotives when their use would be so niche. Between training shop employees and crews, it's just not a realistic prospect. As neat as it would be to see.
