    great video. I am having a Hawaiian hideway nook in the front of my cottage garden in the Uk and I am looking for traditional flowers and vegetables and Hawaiin gardens of every day people. It was interesting to know that you have a lot of small gardens and have a lot of pot plants, only the front bit of ny house gets the sun and i want it to be a pot plant garden. very nice to see your small garden. there are certain plants I would struggle to grow here, but we can do tomatoes and cabbages, so that is easy and reflects an every day garden that the Hawaiians actually use rather than these fantastic botantical gardens. I would like to use my front garden as an educational garden

    Misty, your container garden is so cool & you're producing a good amount of veggies & fruit! The Korean mu are an amazing size, almost the size of the containers, had no idea they would grow in a container. The hydroponic method is very interesting, hope you'll walk us through that.
    I grow Sun Gold cherry tomatoes (my brother gave me some of his a few years ago and I kept a couple back & "planted" them in a container & I've been doing that for the past few years (they're not GMO, so I was able to grow them from "seed") - they're super sweet.
    Are you growing from seed or seedlings?
    You only need a kaffir lime plant (and maybe some galangal) & you'll be set for SE Asian cooking (Thai basil, cilantro & cilantro roots).
    Loving this gardening content!

    • @HawaiiUrbanGardener
      @HawaiiUrbanGardener  2 года назад +2

      Oh Sun Gold cherry tomatoes are exceptional in flavor and I understand why you like them! So sweet. I'm not growing them this year. I wish I had a big parcel of land to grow everything. I do wish I could have a kaffir lime leaf plant but it would be too big for my small yard. Thanks so much for watching this channel as well! Also yes everything is by seed.

    That cabbage is beautiful. Do you have cabbage moths in Hawaii? I ask bc I’ve lived all over mainland US and cabbage moths have always ravaged my cabbages without a mesh cover. But it doesn’t look like any bugs have gotten to yours.

    • @HawaiiUrbanGardener
      @HawaiiUrbanGardener  Год назад +1

      I don't think we have them. It was easy to grow without any problems concerning pests. The only thing to watch out for are slugs that will eat the leaves.

    I looked up the Krakty method and it said you might be doing it wrong. Fruiting plants such as squash aren't recommended as they require additional nutrients to produce fruit, lettuce is on the recommended list.

    • @HawaiiUrbanGardener
      @HawaiiUrbanGardener  2 года назад +1

      I forgot what channel or link it was. I believe it was a video from Vietnam that just showed growing zuchinni in water bottles. After doing it though I honestly would say I wouldn't do it again. It's growing fine but I'm thinking how to get the dirt out once the plant dies. So I'd cut the top of the neck a bit down so it's not too thin. Pretty simple. Drill holes on the bottom for drainage and fill bottle with potting soil and plant your seedling on the top.

      Hi! I live on the island of Oahu which has the city of Honolulu. I was never in the military but sort of have a para military job. Won't get into that. But thanks for watching and there's nothing wrong with growing in pots! I have clay like dense soil as well and it's so hard to dig into the soil to direct sow. So I understand your pain.

    • @HawaiiUrbanGardener

      I just use fish emulsion fertilizer once a week. I use the Alaska brand you can get from Home Depot. It stinks though, but works! Sometimes I also use Grow Big liquid fertilizer by Fox Farms. You can get it on Amazon. I did see it for sale at City Mill Waimalu.

    Jesus is the only way to meet God. Jesus is the Christ who died and rose on the cross to break Satan's head and set you free from the law of sin and death. If you accept and believe in Jesus, you become a child of God. Accept and believe in Jesus.

    • @HawaiiUrbanGardener
      @HawaiiUrbanGardener  Год назад +1

      Hi Happy. I made a video with a seed haul on here to show you where I get them. Usually all online because there's better choices and quality. Bakers Creek Seeds is my favorite, Seeds N Such, Victory Seeds or even Amazon. But of you're starting off you can't go wrong with the hardware store. But the selection is limited and sometimes germination isn't that great.
