Can’t hear this without at least one tear falling! In 1976 I was 22 and still had a chance at a happy life. A few years later I knowingly married the woman who would destroy my life. Meanwhile I sent the right one away. I had the power to change all of this. My last 40 years have been hell. When you know something is wrong, please have the strength to walk away!!!!
We're paddling in the same creek. I got sick and couldn't work after putting in 6-7 days a week, OT for nearly 3 decades. She left for another guy. I lost 65 lbs, not because of a diet, but because I couldn't work, earn, or go shopping. I was starving. No one seemed interested in my wellbeing except CHRIST. I didn't want to burden my children just starting out on their own lives. I kept it from them. I never recovered from my illness, but she and Mr. right went their own way. She started to come around when my daughter finally gave birth, and the kids wanted to disown her. I told them it was me, not you she did it to, and she was still your mother(Honor Thy Father and Thy Mother). I told them you don't have to have a relationship with her if you don't want, but no cruelty or hatred was acceptable. My son tolerates her, but doesn't want to have anything to do with her outside that. My daughter accepts that she is who she is and keeps arms length, doesn't share much. I helped my daughter raise her daughter so she could work without hiring a babysitter, as my disability came through. I found out I was blessed to have things go the way they did, another shot at being a "father" to a little girl I love with my whole heart and soul. It's a great blessing. Hang in there. GOD has a plan, and it would seem you passed the test. BTW, my granddaughter shocked us all one day when she was about 7 by saying what a grump Nonny was, and she didn't like her. I understood. She is very prescient.
God will put the right person in your life. I prayed and cried but finally the person I was meant to be with came back in my life. (We went to school together). God does listen it just takes a lot of prayers!
Why you guys do that? The last two guys that did that to me was because the woman family had a lot of money and I did not at the time. Hope they're happy but I know they're not
@@demah8655 at 68 1/2 and poor health, love has passed me bye forever. All I had to do was get an annulment. I let the one I really loved get away. I have only myself to blame.
Gerry has the most amazing voice. This song will play in my head forever. They are SO GOOD live, even today. Loved the band in the 70s; love them still.
So good. This song is epic to my life. I married my high school sweetheart august of 1975 and a week later left for USAF basic training. The morning of our physical test course we had to march six miles in the dark by flashlight to the site. This song played in my head that entire march from the moment my wedding ring contacted my metal bedpost in the very same key that this incredible melody begins with. I will never forget that day and how this song kept my new wife close in my heart from thousands of miles away. We’ve been married now for forty seven years and still going strong.
I don’t know what it is about America but any time I hear their music it instantly sends me back to the 70’s. And those of us from that era KNOW! All to well how much music was being created back then it was friggen non stop ( oh! Real music by the way) yet there’s something about their music hmmmmm.
This masterpiece is so peaceful and elegant. 🌌 Absolutely mesmerizing. 🌈 ... LOL. The crowd is in such a trance 😵, they forget to clap at the end !! 😳 Gerry Beckley is one of the most underrated vocalists EVER !!! 🏆 👏
After all the awards they've earned they got a star on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame They were voted into Vocal Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame America deserves to be in The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame
Listening to this in 2020... Every time I hear this song, it makes my heart sing. A truly beautiful song that pierce through your soul. I could listen to this time & time again. Love Gerry’s voice & his songs. Love America forever! 💕
HOF is such a joke. Of course they belong but they’d rather put a no rock act like Mary J. Blige. No knock on her but where is the rock in her music or several others that they put in there?
My boyfriend who has always been a musician who adores Bad Company, Zepplin, Aeromsith, Pink Floyd, etc...you get my drift - well, he says the same thing. He says it is on par with George Harrison's "Something in the way She Moves" which is hauntingly beautiful as well.
Flyin' me back to Memphis Gotta find my Daisy Jane Well the summer's gonne And I hope she's feelin' the same Well I left her just to roam the city Thinkin' it would easy the pain I'm a crazy man and I'm playin' my crazy game, game Does she really love me I think she does Like the star above me I know Because when the sky is bright Everything's all right Flyin' me back to Memphis Honey keep the oven warm All the clouds are clearin' And I think we're over the storm Well I been pickin' it up around me Daisy I think I'm same Well I'm awful glad And I guess you're really to blame, blame Do you really love me I hope you do Like the stars above me how I love you When it's cold at night Everything's all right
This band is one of my oldies favorite.. im now 35 years old.. my uncle influnce me this song... all of their album... I love this band... all of their song is so perfect.. and I think this band is late 70s. Great songs and great band... from the asia pacific the philippines
The road trip of my life! July 4th 2004, driving a Z4 roadster from Dallas to New Brunswick. We're listening to America Greatest Hits with the top down. Crossing from Arkansas to Tennessee and there starts Daisy Jane... Flying me back to Memphis. Almost surreal! Just in time for the fireworks too.
What I like BEST from AMERICA especially this sensitive track are the harmonies of the guitar player of Dewey Bunnell and Dan Peek. Pleasant and gentile.
A gorgeous love song that didn’t get nearly the air play their other songs got. You can add me to the list of perplexed. My second favorite “Magic” doesn’t come close to this!
The idiots who do the playlists for air time look at only one thing: how big the hit was. That is ALL that drives them. Most are business managers but couldn't tell you the first three words of Ina-Gadda-Da-Vida.
Indeed, for all their top 10 hits - and they were all great songs - somehow this one only went top 20 or so. But this is the one I can listen to time and again
Mark life sucks sometimes but things always seem to work out my wife and I were together for 49 years since 1972 childhood sweethearts she passed in 2019 copd took out her lungs its 2022 3 years coming up and life sucks without her it gets worse as time goes on
I turned this song on to my Frat brothers back at least 30 years ago and they said this song is beautiful. Now we have a reunion in Maine on a lake and play our favorite tunes and they say play That song again!
Beautiful song. Makes me want to compose a new song on the piano to sing, just starting with a chord progression. I usually add the chords afterwards, but this song inspires me with it's amazing full simplicity. The piano, guitar, drum rhythms, bass, and cello are all that's needed. Even just the piano by itself. Thank you, Anerica. I think I'll compose one tonight. Of course, I won't be borrowing any melodic lines, or chord arrangement like Janet Jackson did. Check it Out! Ciao!!!

GREAT BAND! THEY NEED TO BE IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL FAME!!!!
Motion of love
They are in the Rock and Roll hall of fame of all of our homes. Can't wait until that Cleveland farce reacts...
R&R Hall of Shame! The ones who choose recipients don't know any better, it seems! Just a bunch of Clowns IMO!

Francois Bourgeois Just seen America on the 4th of July in Dundalk Maryland. Daisy Jane. STILL great!!
This song and sister Golden Hair are my best America Songs. Bring back great summer memories in my life.
The synthesizing bowed strings(violin) at the midpoint of the song, in my opinion elevates and defines the piece.
At 2:00 Gerry's dimples ! So so gorgeous ! Irresistible !!
such a pretty love song, brings back memories
I love these guys and this is my favorite song they sing!
He's so fine.
I love this!! We get older and we realize we are!! Yet, I love it I am 61yrs old and I love me and this band!!

I always heard this song when I was in the Philippines 🇵🇭 my auntie and uncle always listen to it.
Favorite America song, and the one hit of theirs that radios seemed to play the least.
my fave too and I never understood the lack of love for it from others
Underrated!
Daisy Jane is one of my favorites! Something about this song, it is innocent, comforting! I agree, this song should have been played more!

Swoon 💕
But it's a great song
It sounds to me like Janet Jackson's "Let's Wait Awhile" was influenced by this tune.
Totally agree!
Daisy Jane 1975......lets wait a while 1986
A court of law agreed with you. Gerry sued Janet and won.
❤😅
You know what the problem with this song its to freaking short

I think this is Americ'as best
Flyin' me back to Memphis
Gotta find my Daisy Jane
Well, the summer's gone
And I hope she's feelin' the same
Well, I left her just to roam the city
Thinkin' it would ease the pain
I'm a crazy man
And I'm playin' my crazy game, game
Does she really love me
I think she does
Like the stars above me
I know because
When the sky is bright
Everything's alright
Flyin' me back to Memphis
Honey, keep the oven warm
All the clouds are clearin'
And I think we're over the storm
Well, I've been pickin' it up around me
Daisy, I think I'm sane
And I'm awful glad
And I guess you're really to blame, blame
Do you really love me
I hope you do
Like the stars above me
How I love you
When it's cold at night
Everything's alright
Does she really love me
I think she does
Like the stars above me
I know because
When the sky is bright
Everything's alright
Wait where's Dewey?
Took me till now to come across this video again and realize I just didn't recognize Dewey with shorter hair XD
He's at the front and centre of the stage.
Horrible!
Yes, you are horrible.
Awesome memories of the 70s. Glad we can still here this.
