Hey Kelly, never made fish soup but EVERY time we make chicken or turkey, I always follow it up with soup. 3:20 Not sure if it would help you out but what I do is use a colander to help get things out. Pour the meat/bones/broth through the colander and into a second pot. Then you can put the meat and bones aside. Clean out the 1st pot (if there's any stuff in the bottom or stuck to the sides) and then pour the broth through a finer mesh strainer back into the now clean 1st pot. Also, best tip I got from my dad was to keep cooked noodles (for soups with noodles) and meat out of the broth.... add them in as you're serving so they don't get soggy or break down while in the refrigerator. *Edit* 4:20, you're talking about straining... woot!

Soup looks delicious!! My only addition would be a couple cups of rice medley and some corn. I also use the purest cracked algae every day in my smoothie. :-) Hope you guys do a video on CCC for frog legs, one of the tastiest foods on earth.
Soup looks amazing! You should start your “fumet” with leek tops, celery and onions first. When it comes to a boil you should drop it to a simmer immediately so it ll keep your fumet clear. When you boil too long the impurities get all into your fumet. Overall great ingredients and I can only imagine how great it tasted!

Being from the islands, we make fish head soup often. We just boil everything down and remove the bigger bones. We add whatever we have available and dump them into the broth. When we eat the soup, we simply spit out the bones. Imagine a bunch of us sitting down and spitting randomly lol. Your recipe is looking good there too. I'll be trying that at some point when I am back on the island.

We have at least 3 local Sprouts in OKC. I love the healthy choices they offer as well as the fresh produce. Ok, I sound like a commercial. lol. Love this fish soup. I make a traditional Mexican "Caldo de Pescado" or Fish Soup, using whatever good fish and shrimp I can find at the market.Sometimes I get the frozen seafood mix packs that have some calamari, squid, oysters, scallops, and shrimp. I usually I have some squash or zucchini, some hominy, carrots, and it has more of a tomato based broth. I add a serving of spanish rice, a squeeze of fresh lemon or lime, and a bit of cilantro on the side to add to each bowl. Serve with hot corn tortillas! I want to try your version out next time.
So two things one is cheese cloth can be used inside the strainer and it will help you get even more of the gritty or sand or etc of the fish out. And you can just wash the cheese cloth between uses for one dish and it will be fine. The other is when I make my fish stock like you are. I make a lot then I end up freezing the rest inIn Ziploc bags so that I can have instant fish stock for a few months. I do the same with beef bacon and butter I make a lot of homemade butter. Fish head soup is the best ever, and it gets better with age, the left overs the next day are always better than fresh off the stove, a lot of love goes into this type of dish.

Great video! I am not sure about all those ingredients though. I would try it though....unlike Bluegabe!:P I would probably swap out some of the greens and add some russet potatoes and more onions and mushrooms. It looked delicious! Did you find the fish's ear stones? Also , There use to be a Filipino lady at our church ( Ms Norma). One day she ask me if I eat my fish heads when I clean fish . I said no mam they go in the trash. She ask me to please save them for her because she loved fish head soup. The next time I went crappie fishing I saved her a bucket of fish heads and I even threw a few nice size crappie in there for her . She was really appreciative . She is the only person I ever knew until now that made fish head soup. Now I know two :-) She came to the USA from Tacloban in the Philippines. A missionary from my church here in NC was there in her city to start a church and school is how she wound up coming to our church here in NC. I bet Gabe knows the Missionary , his name is Howard Wynn, I am pretty sure Gabe's home church there in Florida supports him monthly. Mr Wynn told me he had been fishing with Robert there in Florida also My Pastor grew up with the Arrangton guys , His name is Charles Hatcher. The aforementioned missionary is my pastors uncle etc. Small world :-)

Looks good🙂, for me i would have added some lobster head ends to boiled with the fish head for the stock, as the head ends are often thrown when people twist the tail end off, but there's still flavor to be had if you know how to get it. Also i'd add a heaped bowl of fresh mussels.
i do a turkey carcass or you can cook anything that way to make soup, but my mother has always used a cheese cloth as a final strainer, looks like some great soup

Hey Kelly Big up to you and Bluegabe. There is one important ingredient that definitely should be in your fish soup. That is Jamaican scotch bonnet pepper. It gives the soup a wicked flavor. I'm in Loxahatchee and would like to donate couple dozen from my trees to you and Bluegabe
Collagen is under the skin and in bones of just about any animal. When you cook them the collagen comes out and forms a jello like substance when it's cold. If you cook pig's feet bones, you get a ton of collagen. Collagen is neat stuff. They can make it into sausage casing which I use and much prefer instead of pig gut. It tastes much better than pig intestines.

If you cook pig's feet bones, you get a ton of collagen. Collagen is neat stuff. They can make it into sausage casing which I use and much prefer instead of pig gut. It tastes much better than pig intestines.
