Man I’m so happy I found your channel, every video I watch is like a masterclass about mechanics or electronics and even about handling. As a beginner I’m learning so so much from you. Huge thanks for that man! Btw your rival MT 10 is so cool, hope I can get mine soon :) anyway, cheers and blessings.
Very cool comparison!! That cheetah does break very, very easily so to me outweighs the performance. The MT10 is on my wish list do to everthing going for it, fast fun and durable (unless you smoke the inside of a ramp at full speed to many times LOL!) Great video!
Thanks!! Yes I agree. The 3s performances are not that far off anyway. I would feel pretty comfortable with the rival on 4s if the electronics could handle it. I should probably stuff my ramp with pillows 🤣🤣. Thanks again!!
Bro I bought this because your video but I got the V2 my chassis doesn't have the side plates. And the motor runs very cool. so far 8 pack in and 30-35 min runtime per pack only a caster block has broken($15). Handles good but pushes in the turns on grass. Doesn't backflip great but cart wheels awesome lol. GREAT TRUCK! NO REGRETS BUYING!
Oh I hear ya lol. I actually like my RC MT10E stock suspension so far. I took the motor, esc, and receiver off my cheetah and will just try to sell it as a roller lol
@@DerbyCityRC yikes. My wallet thinks it'll pass lol. Always wanted a MT10 but can never choose between that and the Granite. But that center diff man....ooowee
Yup! I wouldn’t buy it again, but I’d buy the mt10 5 times over. It has the center diff and the granite doesn’t! That was my main reason for choosing it. I think you’ll be happy!
After a year and a half owning both there is plenty to know about each. I sneeze on our Cheetah and it breaks. I absolutely love it though. Awesome on 3s and 4s its a monster. Belted Powerhobby tires that are just slightly smaller were a game changer. I also changed out shock oil and installed the upgraded control arm brackets. You just have to keep Cheetah parts in stock. Our MT10 on the other hand loves abuse. Tuned diffs per Heavy Metal RC's personal recommendation was all it needed. It's a shame that RPM doesn't tap into the Cheetah market. All we need is better control arms!!!
I agree! Though I believe the cheetah needs a few more parts to be upgraded than just the arms. Lol. The chassis, the body shell, and the 120a esc can all stay lol.
WOW! Very cool comparison. I was watching a ton of “Killeroffroadhobbyz” RUclips channel from 2017 to 2020 and his all time favorite 10 scale MT was the Helion Avenge (v1 Rival) and at 1 point his favorite 10 scale was the Cheetah just do to the fact that it is crazy fast and is similar to a Tekno with the thin chassis. That dude had EVERY RC for years and loved both of these RC’s.
Nice! Yes I feel this was a good comparison, but durability wise, that cheetah falls way short. Performance is killer but I didn’t even get to run it to its full potential because it kept breaking before I could warm up to it again, since it’s been close to a year since I’ve actually had it out. Much harder to line up for a jump and harder overall to keep it on its wheels.
@@DerbyCityRC That's unfortunate! I chose the DHK Maximus over the Cheetah back in 2018 and it was incredibly fun and tough but it's got one major problem... The wheel will fly off too often from big jumps. The whole wheel will fall off from the hub with the hex extender attached. It's a pin contained by a rubber grommet. Otherwise it is super tough and fun.
Back in 2021 when I started, I was mainly comparing the cheetah, the Maximus, zombie, and the bison. Luckily the cheetah didn’t make me give up on the hobby lol
Haha thanks man! Hopefully you like the new house set up. I should be adding about 60 feet of driveway in the back yard with a ramp spot here pretty soon, which will be even nicer! Hey I just watched your collabs with Aldo a couple days ago. I watched it on the tv so I couldn’t comment but looked super awesome!!
What is the quality of the materials of the jbl chetaah? Which brand has more durable electronic components? the stock esc and servo from the chetah or the associated gear electronics? I think the chetaah offers more features... but I haven't seen many current videos of the car in 2024, videos were only made when it was just released, but there are almost no videos talking about the durability of use after 15 or 10 play cycles... regards
There’s probably not as many videos because everyone who bought one ended up breaking it too many times and got rid of it lol The plastics are very fragile, the metals are weak. The ESC of the 120a version is very good. The motor seemed ok, but mine did break pretty early on still. The ESC is probably the only good part on the car from my experience. While the rival electronics are inferior in power, they’re still going strong!
Get a redcat kaiju 6s and run it on 5s 100c lipo's. Silicone ear plugs in the middle and rear diffs and send it! You can thank me later! It's literally my toughest rig out of over 50.
I’ve thought about one, but right now I’m really looking for a good cheetah replacement. More like 3-4s like outcast 4s or traxxas Maxx. Kaiju is an option for sure!
Now I’m scared to run my cheetah lol but parts seem reasonable & I’m definitely not as rough on my shit but it’s nice to know the weaknesses at $20 a pop for the front diff maybe once or twice would be okay but 4-5 idk think I’d be using it less lol I know that but you really test stuff man that’s for sure now I want a mt10 even though you managed to break it in half it’s a bad ass rig great vid man 👨👍🏼

I just purchased my son the Rival MT 10 Brushless V2. This is his first RC truck. Any suggestions for a new RC kid. I use to have a big expensive RC car back in the day. What is a good one for me to get to play with him? Thank you. 😊

I got the cheetah for like 1.5 years now when I first had it I broke it a lot but after like a year I broke 2 wheels and got some big badland wheels and I got a whole new cheetah without electric parts. I went to the skate park a lot of times and didn’t brake a lot. You never want to land with power on Because I broke a lot in that way.
Great video...I've been trying to get an MT10 for my son but bout to give up bc they've been out of stock for a while. Thinking about pulling the trigger on the Granite for him, though not as good control / handeling after looking at comparisons. We mostly would drive in the backyard, grass, dirt, ramps. Would u hold out the MT10 or suggest another?
I do think I would hold out for it. It will be back. You can use this link and I’m pretty sure you can buy it and they’ll send it when they get one. The way it controls makes it super fun. Cool and well put together entertaining video as always, buddy! Of those two, I'm rooting for the established brand, definitely the Rival all the way. For some reason, I have always avoided that JLB when I'm on Banggood and those places, if I get a big RC car, it's not a cheapo Chinese, ha ha! Having said that, I did just buy that Flyhal 610 that I have commented so much about, I'm looking forward to get my dirty little fingers on that thing, get it made into something I like, ha ha!
I agree! Funny thing is, the cheetah costs more than the rival at $389! The difference is, that does include a battery and cheapo charger. The fc610 is awesome and glad you got one! Beef it up and blast away!
This cheetah flips like crazy but still after all those upgrades breaks like Pringles potato crisps. My rival though not as crazy as your cheetah will easily double backflip if approached with the right speed to a ramp like yours and easily backflips in addition to being a willie master. That’s cool that the big rock is more durable, we may be getting one soon. And yes, I do plan on getting an outcast 4s as the cheetahs replacement since it should have similar performance but be much stronger! Thanks for always having great input!
@@DerbyCityRC If you take the outcast 4S the big rock is redundant. Big rock is something like kraton that gives you both senton like and outcast 4s like abilities only not as accurate as both but very good. Since you have a senton already the outcast 4S is a blast!!!! even crazier than the strong performance cheetah.
Thanks! Razor RC isn’t very impressed with the outcast 4s v2 durability I noticed. He’s broken a couple chassis. Everyone’s experience is different though and most of his jumps are higher than mine it looks like (though I plan on building a new ramp to change that). Still doing more research on it though.
MT10 seems like the most race inspired monster truck. Someone correct me if there's another more race oriented monster truck out there. Sway bars, center diff, adjustable camber, toe, shock mounts etc...
It’s kinda hard to call it a race truck, but I know what you mean. It’s solid control with the center diff definitely makes it good for racing, but still cant really take turns too fast, the the sway bars help a lot. So just depends on the type of racing. A lower center of gravity would help a lot, like the Arrma senton.
Let’s not forget about the MT10’s short course brother the Pro4 SC10😅. I’ve owned both sc10 and mt10. My sc10 can go toe to toe with my friends 4wd slash. Slash is around £439 mine only £310😂
Hi I don't have either of those but I have a granet and a stamped I have bin wanting to try both the jlb and the mt10 but the associated looks very similar to stampede the jlb seems to be the fastest
The jlb is definitely faster, but it’s hard to control. Even faster on 4s I’m sure! The rival could certainly use a bit of a motor upgrade but it’s one of my favorites for sure!
I don’t have a big rock, but I do have Senton. I can’t completely say how durable it is(though I did break a rear knuckle on a nasty jump). The big rock is probably close to the durability of the MT10, but I guarantee you it’s more durable than the cheetah.
Hi saw your Mjx 16208 and had to get one. Is it suppose to be slower in reverses . My 1st basher . I’m use to scx24 and fcx so not sure if that’s how it is with these Keep the vids coming they’re entertaining 🤙🏾
Lol! I actually removed a lot of negativity on that car lol. Even a scene where I threw it into a trash can lol Wanted to show it, but not be too mean 😂
Must be the cold making it break easer because you yousely run it way harder i live in Nfld Canada and it is cold on a warm day so I know all about breakuage from cold plastic basically u can't jump as hard here you would not like it the way you like to air them out lol
For sure! I haven’t run the cheetah in about a year. It broke so much and so easily, I didn’t even get used to it yet. Plus it is harder to control on the ground too (slow and weak servo) so really never got to hit the ramp at good speeds. Lol I repaired the car 5 different times for this video, which ended up being 9-10 parts. It really got frustrating!! Lol
My favorite stock suspension on a 10 scale is the Redcat MT10E. Team Magic has just unbelievable stock shocks! I gotta try the Team Associated Rival at some point or buy this kids Helion Avenge. I imagine the only reason most people say its better than the Redcat MT10E is it has a center diff and stock sway bars… otherwise no way is it as tough as the Redcat because of the front bulkhead that I’ve seen others break like “killeroffroadhobbyz”. Redcat sells both as upgrades and they sell stiffer springs as well but that brings the cost up about 100.00 dollars.
I was close to getting the redcat MT10E, but kept seeing videos with it breaking way more than I saw the rival breaking lol Everyone’s experience is different. It almost doesn’t matter cuz I break all of it lol!
@@DerbyCityRC I know but you enjoy breaking them 😂 👊! And I think the major problem with the MT10e is the servo saver needs a upgrade and it is available. 👊
I don’t mind breaking them, as long I get through atleast 80% of a battery pack first 🤣. The damn cheetah broke 5 times before going through a single pack 😂 I’ll add it back to my list of future possibilities lol!
Why are the Cheetah dog bones such dog 💩? I haven't had all of the issues shown in the video but the fragile axle shafts are maddening. Perhaps those from another car are beefier and still fit?
I know it!! Honestly until this video, it had been quite a while since I had a dogbone break. That chassis brace I made and installed worked wonders in helping keep axles from breaking! Gonna be selling my cheetah as a roller soon lol. Can’t stand it anymore 🤣
Thanks man. I’m pushing it out as quick as I can lol. Have a lot in the home and professional life going on as well, but my goal is one video a week. Lately it’s been more like 14-20 days which I hate! I’m trying though 😃
I agree with most of what you said but the bigger and heavier it is the easier it is to break so the rival is smaller you know from 1/16 scale cars there almost indestructible because if an ant falls out of a tree it does no damage if you fall out of a tree at the same height you get hurt so kind of apples and oranges here a little bit the cheetah is a great car and you and I'm not going to go into the fact that the NT was almost completely destroyed I know you're not anti cheetah and you like them but you kind of make it seem like a bad car and it's one of the best non american-made bashers in the world
Yes for sure the heavier it is, the easier it will break, but I still say these are similar comparisons. Someone looking at a true 1/10 scale under $400 would likely be looking at these two and usually weight isn’t a huge factor for a purchase. The cheetah is a good performing car, but even with its weight, I feel it breaks too easily. I’ve said that pretty much as long as I’ve had it. If the cheetah had less metal like the MT and had more flexible plastic, it would probably be cheaper to make, and be more durable. If they made those changes, I’d probably buy another one. Not trying to hate on the car, but I wish I would have seen this comparison 2 years ago.
@@DerbyCityRC okay I hear you thanks for straightening me out I really like both cars and thanks for the comparison you're doing good work you know I subscribe to you more power to you thanks
Had I had known about the Redcat Mt10e and Team Associated Rival MT10 at the time of purchase of the Cheetah, I would have both of those rigs instead of just having the always broken turd Cheetah and the RCMT10E
The Cheetah is a turd and a waste of money. You'll spend a lot more time waiting for parts than you will for the maybe 5 minute run time before something breaks.
Your videos are getting better and better. You've really gotten good at editing. The broken parts shoot is funny af!! 👊🏼

I’m use to scx24 and fcx so not sure if that’s how it is with these
Keep the vids coming they’re entertaining 🤙🏾
Ya they are usually slower in reverse. Most bashers are either a lot slower or a littler slower. Thanks! I keep going cuz of the great comments!!
@@DerbyCityRC that’s good to know . I’ll cancel my return for bang-goods 😅 and get bashing nice for quick response . Respect
Ya man! You bet!!!
OUTCAST V2 soooooo fun to drive!!!!
That may be one of my next ones. Is it durable?? Lol
So far I've broke a shock rod end back rear and the body gets banged up from the shocktowers.
Get an extra driveshaft! Thing is friggin awesome man!! Straight up! And over
I changed the servo. Was way slow
All good to know!! The drive shafts break easily? Or the center one?
What weight shock oil are u liking in your MT10?
Actually I’ve never changed it! Whatever it comes with is pretty good!
You should have made your new trash shoot big enough to throw the whole cheetah into 😂
Lol! I actually removed a lot of negativity on that car lol. Even a scene where I threw it into a trash can lol
Wanted to show it, but not be too mean 😂
Dang I feel like I jinxed you. Lol
lol you did!!
I was close to getting the redcat MT10E, but kept seeing videos with it breaking way more than I saw the rival breaking lol
Everyone’s experience is different.
The damn cheetah broke 5 times before going through a single pack 😂
I’ll add it back to my list of future possibilities lol!
we now know its metal lol. i love it..
Haha! It’s like the universe knew I needed to know!
😂 You hate the Cheetah.
Love that car.
lol I do. Don’t get me wrong it’s an amazing performer, but it breaks so easily. I drive like a psycho though so wouldn’t be bad for everyone lol
I’ve got a roller for sale lol
Why are the Cheetah dog bones such dog 💩?
I haven't had all of the issues shown in the video but the fragile axle shafts are maddening.
Perhaps those from another car are beefier and still fit?
I know it!!
Honestly until this video, it had been quite a while since I had a dogbone break. That chassis brace I made and installed worked wonders in helping keep axles from breaking!
Gonna be selling my cheetah as a roller soon lol.
Can’t stand it anymore 🤣
👍💪🇺🇦
The sensor drive shaft is a big steel dog bone
Oh I know that now 🤣
@@DerbyCityRC 🤣
I’ve been subscribed to you for a while your style is authentic you should push a lot more content you might be the next big thing
Thanks man. I’m pushing it out as quick as I can lol.
Have a lot in the home and professional life going on as well, but my goal is one video a week. Lately it’s been more like 14-20 days which I hate! I’m trying though 😃
Lol... Bigger
Haha! Exactly!
Not much of a comparison it seems. Cheetah will cost ya.
Ya not at all 🤣
My cheetah is for sale as a roller just haven’t listed it yet lol
First
Nice job! *hands over a cookie with only one bite already taken out
@Derby City RC I'll throw in the rest of my milk with that cookie!🙈🤣🤣👍👍🦾🦾
Nice man!! Kinda warm milk or you kept it chilled?? 😀
@@DerbyCityRC 🤣 it's as cool as I am brother! = downright cold‼️🤣🤣👍👍🦾🦾
Haha, nice! Can’t give a better gift than that! 😎👍🚀🤘
Thanks man!! It’s all relative to what people want out of their RC car 😎
The Cheetah is an over priced turd.
💯% 🤣
Had I had known about the Redcat Mt10e and Team Associated Rival MT10 at the time of purchase of the Cheetah, I would have both of those rigs instead of just having the always broken turd Cheetah and the RCMT10E
Me too I never would have bought it!!
The Cheetah is a turd and a waste of money. You'll spend a lot more time waiting for parts than you will for the maybe 5 minute run time before something breaks.
This is 100% correct!! Lol
