I am a beginner learning to play a 1960s OLDS cornet. OLDS cornet sounds seem more trombone-like sound. Still having difficulty with correct embouchure. I get tired after a little practice and then air sound comes out. Lots of physical on lips, teeth, etc. Does this seem correct? and normal? Thanks, Mr. Angelo

Great question. It's important to slowly build up your chops over time. Our brass instructors typically suggest practicing just 1-2 minutes at first and slowly adding time. Just like weightlifting, it's important to practice regularly to build up the musculature in your mouth. Once you do that, you should have no problem creating a beautiful sound for longer periods of time!

Air speed has NOTHING to do with it.
