Rastan is my favorite. I left all my new generation consoles aside just to be able to play these games on a Linux retro-gamimg distro. I am happy that I grew up in the 80's and had a chance to play some of these gems.

@@Theshark15z I used to work for Game Development. The thing with Game Development is that producing a game would take years before it gets released. This is also the reason why porting previously released games to newer consoles would have a significant number of years to be completed.

Taito, my favorite game developer. Amazing how MAME has this game as 1984, but the Taito Memories compilations have it listed as 1985. Looks like Taito goofed there. You can also tell this is one of the earliest Zuntata music compositions for Taito, no other game had music that rich sounding that early (that wasn't laserdisc). Return of the Invaders is an odd one, I've heard that one was more UPL made than anything Taito did. Same case with Last Duel on the second Capcom compilation, heard Toaplan guys worked on it.
Favorites are elevator action returns, rayforce, space invaders (original and 95), Kiki kaikai, liquid kids, frontline, zookeeper, rainbow island, and bubble bobble.

Continental Circus has the coolest crash I have ever seen for that time! If you rear end another car going full speed, your car will turn diagonally and flip multiple times before exploding the same way you saw here. Given the technology of the time, it’s a very impressive sight, and it’s hard to be mad when you see something like that.
Gun Buster (1992) was really something; An actual arcade FPS just before Doom invaded our PCs! It's like they _knew_ games like that were going to be major.
Also worth a mention: some of the home ports, and not necessarily because the port itself was any good. For instance, the C-64 version of Rastan was bugged, and impossible to finish as published. But the cover art? Oof. Now, THAT was impressive. It was painted by Tim Hildebrandt, so you'd kind of expect that. Unfortunately, that particular work is hard to find online--the few scans I've of it are either on the small side, or have damage in places.
Nice video but I believe you forgot a very important taito game called stratovox from like 1980 , it was I believe the first video game that had speech
I always thought Battle Fantasia was an Arksys game it must have been licensed through them would be awesome to see a sequel for that I felt it was one of the most Underatted hidden fighter games even though it had a small roster it's mechanics n gameplay combo system ate well balanced....

It's pretty rad that Taito was still making 2D arcade games into the mid-2000s.
so was Capcom and Snk. I think they just didn't have the resources to produce 3D games at the time so they hung on to 2D for a bit longer.

Muito obrigado, de verdade!
Frontline, elevator action, zoo keeper, and many others were quarter munchers in my day.
The legend of kage was the best taito game I ever played.
I had the Taito collection on XBOX we need more volumes for all the games.
7:50 Then Konami in 1986, took inspiration by this and they changed Salamander in Lifeforce in the US.
Bubble Bobble & Rastan - number 1
Missing Stratovox which is an iconic game. I believe the first arcade game to use synthesized sound.
The New Zeland Story and Liquid Kids are the most beautiful platforms of Taito
Taito of Japan, Taito of America.... they're all good!!
Vale la pena jugarlos todos
Some of these really need a re-release *coughElevatorActionReturnscough*
Some of their games also use “GOAL IN! " when you complete the level, not just Rainbow Islands only.
Battle Fantasia was actually Arc Systems. The game was just designed on the Taito Type X2 Board.
You know what's missing the original Double Dragon game with spike and hammer and Double Dragon 2 the revenge
Thankz Taito for a c😎😎l Videogame Childhood
🛸👾🚀SHMUPZ🚁🚂🕹
I miss japanese game developers
They still exist, Capcom or Nintendo are on the top, Sega still make a games.
Nice video but I believe you forgot a very important taito game called stratovox from like 1980 , it was I believe the first video game that had speech
I missed Superman arcade
The best Superman video game imo
I always thought Battle Fantasia was an Arksys game it must have been licensed through them would be awesome to see a sequel for that I felt it was one of the most Underatted hidden fighter games even though it had a small roster it's mechanics n gameplay combo system ate well balanced....

Do u know the japanese game, pac man concept but it's a blue egg caterpillar that extends? World 1 is island theme with crabs as ghost and world 3 or 4 is poker card theme.
From the cute to the bizarre, Taito earns it's reputation as one of the Big 5 of arcade games, the others being Capcom, Konami, Data East & SNK.
and Sega and Nintendo
