2: a person used by others for their own purposes.
Neither of those definitions say anything about gender, one way or the other.
The pawns in this game are male is what P.G. meant. As you can see, they all have beards.

Outside of the fact that I'm going to look for this game now, and that I understand it was played to show the animations more than anything, this had to have been one of the worst chess matches I've ever seen in my life.

Aunque desperdiciaron la oportunidad de hacer que los peones usaran algo así como un casco que les cubriera todo el rostro de forma tal que no se les notase ni siquiera el género ya que de esa forma cuando un peon llegase a la última línea del enemigo y por ejemplo se convirtiera en Reina el peon podría sacarse el casco y rebelar que era una mujer y ahí convertirse en Reina, lo mismo para convertirse en las demás piezas.

The horse model probably takes up too much space
There was at one point a similar game called War Chess that actually featured knights on horseback. The real reason the knights walk on two feet is an homage to the classic Battle Chess of the 1980s, when they likely did do it to save space; likewise, the original Battle Chess used red and blue rather than white and black to make its pieces stand out.
@@StuartSimon Are you talking about the one on windows XP? Because that one had elongated "squares" (actually rectangles) to accommodate the horse.
Even weirder is that the pawns and the king also use swords. In the original, the pawn used a spear, and the hidden weapon inside the king's scepter was a mace, which he swung to club pawns out. The knights in the original were the only pieces to use swords, and it was strictly right-handed, except when a knight being captured by another knight would futilely try to wield his sword in his left hand when he lost his right hand. He eventually lost all four extremities.
