    Good looking setup. Love the usw aggregation switch. It’s a sweet little device

      @CrazyCoastie - Thanks very much, I'm pleased with it. Yeah I agree the aggregation switch is great and has come in very handy, as you've no doubt already found out I presume :-)

      @CrazyCoastie - Sounds interesting and good, I don't blame you I think we will start to need 2.5Gbit soon as investments continue in to the ISP infrastructures. Mind you here in the UK we can get about 1Gbit maximum home internet now, but it's slowly becoming more widespread with more providers offering it thankfully.

    I actually managed to get a 30 cm DAC cable from 10GTek.
    They’re good, and work perfectly fine with Ubiquiti gear.

      @cousinluigi - That's not a bad length for a DAC cable to be honest. I might have a look at them.

    I was given this same exact setup. And have no idea how to link them together. They came linked together. I just don't know if this is ideal way. They are daisy chained . This video helps alot.

    would prefer to use DAC, hide it between switches with some sort of 1U management.

    • @MrTimTech2022
      @MrTimTech2022  Год назад +1

      Hi @Naif ALTAMIMI - I see your point. I've managed to use 2 DAC cables for uplinks between the switches and UDM and I've just pushed the excess down the side of the cabinet, doesn't look too bad.

    I would like to ask about my setup. I have 1 UDM SE, 1 Aggregation Switch, and 5 USW 24-port standard switches.
    I connected my UDM SE to port 11 on the USW Aggregation switch on port 8, and I connected all 5 USW 24-Port switches on each different area to the Aggregation switch via SFP module. However, I'm encountering STP blocking. Can you help me understand how to avoid this error?

    • @MrTimTech2022
      @MrTimTech2022  10 месяцев назад

      Hi @IzangsVlog - Thanks for your comment. This seems very odd as from what I'm understanding is that each of your switches and UDM all connect in to your Aggregation switches via separate ports with SFP modules on the Aggregation switch, so I cannot see how you are getting STP (Spanning Tree Protocol) blocking. Maybe try checking each port on the Aggregation switch under the 'Ports' section of your UniFi Network Controller has 'Native/VLAN Network' set to Default and underneath that 'Tagged VLAN Management' has also set to 'Allow All' and that the 'Operation' option is set to 'Switching' as I'm wondering if maybe one of those port profiles had previously been set to a specific VLAN, where I think it should be set to Default Networks so it allows all traffic to flow between switches. Just something to check first. Let me know how you get on. Maybe another channel member here can provide an answer if they've had the exact same issue, anyone ???
      I've not personally encountered that but would certainly like to help you resolve it if we can between us!

    i was looking how to connect the UDM to each switch, the problem is, i have 8Gbit internet speed and i need to use 1 SFP+ on the UDM as WAN connection, than i have only 1 SFP+ left to connect to the USW aggregation, behind that i have also a USW Pro 16 . is it better to go first from UDM to the Aggregation and than to the USW Pro 16, or first to the Pro 16 and than to the Aggregation ?

    • @MrTimTech2022
      @MrTimTech2022  3 месяца назад +1

      Hey thanks for your comment. Wow that's certainly a good WAN connection speed.
      Understood re the UDM connections and that you have it connected to the Aggregation.
      To answer your question it's always best to connect both your UDM and USW both in to the Aggregation so that the Aggregation sort of acts as a junction box. Then your Aggregation can either route traffic to the UDM or USW depending on where it's going to.
      Hopefully this makes sense. So to conclude it's best not to daisy chain them in a row.
      Take care!

    I have a copper DAC cable that goes from my UDMP to my unfi 48 POE switch but nothing happens. Always thought it was plug & play. Does the DAC need to be fiber?

    • @MrTimTech2022
      @MrTimTech2022  6 месяцев назад

      It should normally just be plug & play, however some SFP modules at each end of the DAC might possibly not be compatible as some are unique to specific brands, which one are you trying to use ?

    Hi, im just starting to have a some idea about networking solutions. But on the unify website, they say that USW pro 24 POE switch is capable of 1,0 Gbps, but in your unify OS, it shows it has 10Gbs experience. How is it? Just bcs of the aggregation switch?

    • @MrTimTech2022
      @MrTimTech2022  5 месяцев назад +2

      Hey there - It's because the USW Pro 24 PoE Switch also has 2 x 10Gbit SFP+ ports which of course support 10Gbit, the other RJ45 ports only support 1Gbit.
      Hope that helps.

  • @gregm.5960
    @gregm.5960 Год назад

    I thought that you should know that it isn't recommended to have more than 2 RJ45 spf+ modules in the aggregatation switch. Cause the temperature gets to hot.

    • @MrTimTech2022
      @MrTimTech2022  Год назад +1

      Hi @gregm.5960 - Thanks for the comment, this I find odd seeing as there are 8 SFP+ ports on the Aggregation Switch. I guess then it is recommended to use Fibre cables ? Where did you see that information, it would be useful to have a read of ?

      The RJ45 modules get hot, yes, but the recommendation is to not put them next to each other, but have a port between them that’s either free or used for a DAC.

    • @MrTimTech2022
      @MrTimTech2022  Год назад +1

      That's a good idea and to be honest I have not for that reason spaced my Fibre modules out on my Aggregation, but just for cable routing solutions. But that's certainly a good suggestion and if possible it's certainly worthwhile doing, so as to give better heat dissipation.

    What server rack do you use or is in the thumbnail?

      Good question.
      I found it on www.rackcabinets.co.uk
      It is an Orion Rack Cabinet, floor standing, grey colour, its a 12U - 600 mm x 600 mm one and the direct link to that is as follows
      www.rackcabinets.co.uk/collections/free-standing-data-cabinets/products/12u-free-standing-data-cabinet-600-x-600
      Hope that helps!
      One thing is that you have to purchase shelves separately, so you may want to bare that in mind.
