The price of these units is really great value for money. Just a few short years ago Boeing CDUs were advertised for nearly $3K, so this $130 price is a real breakthrough.
Perfect! This is one of the most irritating parts of MSFS 20/24. That you can’t undock the MCDU and program it on screen like you could in earlier versions of MS and in P3D. Together with the WW FCU/EFIS combo, this will make the simulator a lot more realistic.
I can't wait! Is it plug and play for PMDG??? Or do you have to program it??? Also, does it work with the other Boeing products or do you need to get one of each for the three Boeings(737/747/777)??? Thanks for the video!
Just awesome, a big thanks to you for sharing and to WinWing to build theses quality products. After FCU, joystick... we approach to get a full cockpit sim at home :D
Great review Doc! So good to see affordable sim widgets like this coming out now. The main thing stopping me from building a rig in the past was the extremely high costs of gadgets like this!
Crazy how affordable flights sims are today. I remember like 15 years ago you'd need to spend at least 100k. Nowadays you can build the same thing for 10k.
I see you went from triple monitors to a curved 49” and lastly to a flat OLED. Can you tell me why you settled on the OLED? Which do you feel gave you the best immersion? Thank you, and Beautiful setup btw!
question. if we got just the Boeing one. would it work somewhat with the airbus planes? or does it not work at all when you criss cross them? if you could try it out and let us know that would be amazing! thanks
If I buy a a-320 one and then want to do a flight in the PMDG 737 does the screen still show what’s being displayed in the 737 (aside from the buttons being mismatched)
@@TheFlightDocpls test it. As much as Id like to have it for 3 different aircrafts (a320, b777f & b737) I can’t afford it. Still need to get rudders, efis and throttle 😅 my god, that sounds expensive 😂
This is arguably more exciting than the efis/fcu combo. I'm sooooo excited to get this and an airbus radio panel. THEN, I have to do it all over again with the boeing set :D (winwing has direct access to my wallet at this point lol)
5:50 that answers your question from earlier on how it doesn't use an HDMI. It's getting the text info from the aircraft (m)cdu, and doing it's own rendering on device instead of just an hdmi output.
The buttons of the 777 MCDU are different enough to make this kind of irritating - Boeing smoking their socks or something. The physical layout is the same, but their are different buttons, and some of the same buttons, but in different places. I'm not sure if WW could include replacement labels/buttons, but the only thing that would need to change are the button labels. Specifically, we'd need FMC COMM, VNAV, NAV RAD, and ALTN buttons, and the ability to move some of the current ones around. If this is possible then this would also be 1:1 for the 777, but as it stands, it's different enough to be irritating, but not to stop it being used, I guess.
Is the display just a copy of the in-game display as if it was a popped out window? I was curious if Winwing were going to make their own version somehow, or if it is indeed the same display being shown. The fact it doesn't need some funky HDMI and pop out display setup is excellent.
Are the buttons rubber or a plastic feel? I think the ones they showed at expo were a rubber button. I’d prefer them to be plastic or at least a very hard rubber.
Exciting ... great video (smashing the 'like' button) but could do with a few more details like measurements and confirmation as to whether a single unit can access either side (Capt/FO) and also if it is possible to use two units to access both sides independently at the same time?
The measurements are 28.5mm thick, and essentially 1:1 for the real MCDU or CDU (measurements I wasn't sent, but readily online available) - you can change the side which the unit accesses (L, R, C in most cases) and you can indeed use two units to access each side INDEPENDANTLY (which is bloody awesome!)
@@TheFlightDoc Thanks buddy, very helpful ... can't wait to pre-order these bad boys ... currently using two wifi tablets which generally work well but sometimes disconnect and/or suffer from a bit of latency ...
Im so confused. This isn’t replicating the texture from the game, so it must be kept in sync via software on the device or on the PC. I can foresee this getting out of sync if Winwing doesnt support this device in the long term or there are sudden changes in planes.
Guys im really stuck on which I should get between the boeing or airbus mcdu eventually I will buy both but for now I can only pick one, any help on helping me choose?
Is the Boeing 737 version also compatible with the 777, or are there differences? If, then, I'd like to get the Airbus and kne of the Boeing versions first.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who thought that straight away. Also don’t forget the Chinook flight computer, or the Herc that’s still in development. IF these are also compatible with them, I’m purchasing at once. Or at least once they are back in stock, let’s be honest given winwings supply issues with new releases, we ain’t getting these for 6 months or so, unless we get lucky with the pre order. Pretty sure I’m getting at least 1 of these for MSFS anyway, and at such a great price it is even practical to get one for each type of aircraft and just swap them about. Winwing has scored yet another home run, these guys are magnificent, I thought their F18 stuff was stunning but the new civilian equipment. Wow.
@cowboy10uk totally agree. I fly various modules and would rather have something with lots of options. I only occasionally fly msfs these days as I can't get descent vr performance, but these winwing product do look excellent.
mikdu is crazy
Ugh 😮💨
Not half as crazy as panel flight of plan

I’m dead at this😭😭
LOOL, I saw real pylotes calling it a mikdu online, now I feel like an idiot 🤣

100%, it's a great time to be a flight simmer!
For this price is like insta buy. Finally we got some companies that are not greedy

Im 100% in for the Boeing. EXCELLENT value
$130 is pretty damn good, can't wait to see what they pop up for on second hand markets.
What's the second hand market and where does one access it from
Excellent review. Will wait to see what the first batch of buyers say and how long it takes to deliver their orders.
awesome video FD, excited to get these into the setup
you're gonne love it!
I’d honestly buy it just for decoration
Awesome bit of kit. Kudos to winwing that is a fantastic price too. Will definitely be adding one
They both look great. I'm going grab one of each when they come out.
They look great, thanks for the video 👋🏾
Hope they make some GA stuff. Not big into the airliners but, the price of these might make me reconsider. Would love to see a GTN-750.
The type face Airbus designed and uses is B612 and it’s free (licensed as SIL Open Font License), so why they didn’t use it is beyond me.
0:40 Can’t wait to get these. I want it for my Apache and Kiowa in DCS 😅
Lovely video mate!! Just got mine too :)
Thanks mate, I'm interested to see what you think !!!
Interesting to hear it works with Fenix. I thought Fenix doesn’t support external hardware due to license issues or something like that
Looking forward to the full Aurbus setup, this is exactly the route I am going, but from zero to hero.
28.5mm thick, all other dimensions are OEM (I wasnt provided with specifics, but there are lots of mcdu dimensions online which will be identical)

is the one for the 737 for NG or for the MAX? is it true that the one for the 777 will also work for the MAX?

From what I understand you can use either one for almost any plane. So you don’t need both if you mainly fly one.
yes this is important to me. Like, I want it to work on the A330, etc
Which one is better if I fly mainly bizjets?
Would the airbus mcdu work with boeing

can you use it on other planes or just for the 737 cause it isn't worth it if its for one plane only
what powered usb bank do you have ?
Will the A320 work with the Headwind and ini A330 ? and will the 737 work with 777 and 747?

Why won’t some manufacturers make cdu and mcp for the 777?

Hey Doc when I get my chair with a seatbelt we should fly together. Like your videos and setup. 👏👍🏼
Can you use both for any type of aircraft? Does it matter if I get the MCDU or the FMC or is it just a style thing?
I believe *at the moment* they only work with their respective aircraft, but will be mobiflight compatible!
