Thank you! I was just thinking if you like Red because of VErsatil - you would also like the 3-brush Versatil set. I never reviewed it specifically because it's just 3 Versatils in different sizes, but its quite nice [the case is leather too so it looks and feels amazing]. Either way you can't go wrong:)
Another fantastic review! I ordered a Perla and a Prado to try. I am not a big fan of the Perla but I love the Prado as much as the Versatil, I think. Can't wait for your next review. Thank you!
Thank you! :) Totally agree on Perla - it can be hit or miss, I am more and more reserving it for my ink because i can see the pigment load on the white synthetic well and I like that. Otherwise sticking to my Versatil :))) You will like Prado I think - it's close to Versatil, better than Perla.
i want to say thank you for doing these!! descriptions online don't really say what a set might be used FOR, so it's like.... which would a landscape painter try versus portrait or other applications...? these reviews were thorough and very helpful (whether an artist paints the same subjects or not). seems like a set of just Versatils might actually be the good thing to do. : )
Thank you so much for your feedback! I am so glad the format made sense - it totally depends on WHAT you paint 😊 I feel the same way about camera lense reviews (I shoot top down and want to know exactly what video lense works best specifically for that but most reviews on RUclips focus on random tech specs that make zero sense to me 🤣 which is why I still haven’t upgraded my basic lense)
@@AnnaBucciarelli Oh yes, seen plenty of those myself. Well, if you figure, it’s a fixed distance. So I would look at reviews based on the distance you would have your camera from the surface. And that would probably put you in the realm of short focal range lenses. For cheaper options generally Tamron is very good overall. (For dslr. Assuming you’re running digital). My camera is an canon 80D. What setup do you currently have?
I got a few Escoda Versátil brushes for myself thanks to you and they have been wonderful so far! Thank you for this video, it was very thorough and helpful. I intend to add this set to my collection soon. By the way, what is the song playing in the background? It's been stuck in my head for a while, but can't identify it.
Oh my, these brushes are beautiful. But I got more curious about your nail polish color! I am in long search for soft (not bright) bordo-wine nail color, I am Soft Autumn color type (by 12 sci art system) and it's just what I need to winter. Please, please, please, can you tell me the name and brand of your nail polish? Please.
Hello. I really enjoyed this review. I recently purchased a Reserve #6 and previously a Reserve #10. I keep feeling like they splay out. Do you notice this? Would you say that all Versatil and/or the red which mixes Versatil and Perla also have this splaying factor?
Would you be willing to review some more affordable brushes or brush sets? it makes sense that you are a professional artist that you would use the best brushes available but these days with the pandemic people are living on constrained budgets and pricey watercolor brushes are out of the question but would like to explore painting with water color with more affordable brushes?
I love this brushes but I didn't find them in Argentina. Love your videos too! I have a doubt, how is called the accessories you have in your hand? As a begginer I didn't see I before.
Thank you so much ❤️ It's a glove protector - technically made for ipad artists. You can find them on amazon: Protective Glove from Laughing Paw: amzn.to/2LLqcyC
Hi, thanks for taking the time to do this informative review! I am interested in the black set but at the same time wanted to order a smaller versatil travel brush separately. Have you tried #4? I was wondering if there is much difference in terms of water capacity/point. Are you satisfied with #6 for small details or you normally use another brush?
Great question Tamara - I definitely prefer Versatil in size 4 and size 2 for smaller details. I have another travel set with just 3 Versatils - it’s not part of these series (the casing is leather) and it contains #2. I find their #2 is a bit thicker / fuller than regular 2’s... Enjoy! Hope this helps ❤️
I’m a beginner painter, and I welcome your advice. I’ve watched your reviews on all 4 sets, particularly the red and black repeatedly. Which of those 2 would recommend for a beginner, when I don’t yet know what kind of painting I’ll prefer or be good at? The diversity of brush styles in the black set interests me, but having 2 versatile brushes in the red set also makes it a little hard to pass up. Any advice if I can only purchase one? Thanks for your help!
Great question! I like the way you are thinking about this and I would 100% recommend the red set for a beginner. In general, round brushes are best to start with for watercolour 😊 It has 2 of my favourite synthetic sables there but also that soft Perla which I am loving more and more these days. You are absolutely right - it takes time to figure out what style you like and type of specialty brushes (and sizes!) you need in the future. It took me about 5 years of consistent practice to get to the point where I go to the art store and know EXACTLY what I like... Happy New Year and Enjoy your watercolour journey !!! 💙❄️🎨
@@AnnaBucciarelli Hi! It took a while, but I was finally able to receive my red travel set. Quick question...if I decide to use acrylic or gouache with these brushes, should I use anything other than water to clean them? I want to be sure I take care of them properly. 😊
Katie Blue Lotus Crystals that’s right - Jackson’s art distributes to US and I believe Canada:) I don’t think they can ship directly from their website (it’s a relatively small family business). Jackson’s art is your best bet😊

It would be nice if they did not make the handles so thick for the large sizes, and if they made travel brushes in other shapes with the Versatil. Do you find that the Perla wears out its point quickly?
I agree - a bit too big for my small fingers too but as the comment below mentions ity's due tothe amount of hair, so kind of unavoidable... I've been using Perla's for about a year. So far so good but I am not confident long-term. I also don't use it as much as others. I can say that Versatil definitely lasts because I use it almost daily and take it through a lot especially on landscapes. You can use a natural preserver soap / oil to extend the life of any brush and make sure the tip stays pointed :)
@@dollarstoremakeupisokay335 Right, but the comment was not questioning why. They are still a bit thicker than they need to be. Some other brands are not so thick.
ThingOfSome that’s great to know! My other large size favourites are Nevskaya Palitra and their handles are super thick 😕What’s the brand you use - I’d live to try?
You’re an awesome reviewer. I really appreciate the time taken with each brush in different applications to discover and demonstrate the qualities.
Thank you so much for your feedback! :)

It would be nice if they did not make the handles so thick for the large sizes, and if they made travel brushes in other shapes with the Versatil. Do you find that the Perla wears out its point quickly?
The handles are that thick because the brush hairs need to fit inside them comfortably so they don't bend oddly.
