I used to have the same problem. It was solved in a couple of months when I learned how to count the pulse (out loud) while I play anything. So only count the beats, not the subdivisions of the beat. If you can't count while you play, you'll have these "independence" problems forever. I never had a teacher make me do it, so at age 30 I finally did it after seeing a great youtube video on "how to improve your rhythm". It has made me way better! Now, rhythm is no problem, singing and playing is no problem, talking and playing is no problem, and I'm able to memorize things quicker. Count!

You start by listening and then try out simple straight lines (play by ear) to get a feel for the instrument. Then - go for videos on RUclips (or get a teacher) I think you will discover that the good teachers give you "no method" but a lot of bluesy "licks" - melody lines - and explain harmony to you (I mean to people who watch their videos).

My journey with jazz was fraught with peril. I've studied a little of everything over the past 10 or so years and have landed on Barry Harris's method. My honest advice is to forget this channel and everything else, and dive into his method completely. There is no other method that makes as much sense as his. The earlier you jump to it, the easier it will be to make your mind think that way. Trust me. I've got a lot of bad habits I've picked up from channels like this that I've had to unlearn.

I just bought your 26 intro's through Paypal. The proces wound up in an all-Korean sequence. You should adjust your site to an all English and and all Korean one and not use the language switch for at a certain point there is no switching to English, after having become irritated that every new page is first in Korean, then you have to click the switch to English, at each page!!! A paying customer gets into an all-Korean webpage sequence and the only recognizable sign is a download sign. I clicked it and now have the download, thanks very much, but also an invoice that is all Korean characters. Split it. One English, and a separate one Korean. What you have now does not work properly. A non-Korean should never get stuck in an all-Korean webpage sequence.
