Totally agree with you. I love the pinch opening knives. Makes it so much easier to work with. When I'm working, I generally open my knife then make a few cuts and close it again. After opening a knife several times, you really start to appreciate an easy to open knife.

Perfection! I would never know the easy opens were not factory! I want a match striker pull notch on a knife so bad! I would use it as a nail file :) your work is superb Randy! Hopefully the hurricane stays well away from you guys!

Enjoyed the video i saw a comment of not likeing nail nicks i also am not fond of them. I put a KWIK thumb stud on mine. All so for those that might not no they make thumb nick openers and they also can be highly collectable all have a blessed day Randy.

That particular knife is spectacular. Wish I had one. Hope you are still enjoying it. I would be compelled to have a look at it at least weekly as well. ✌🏼

Those secondary blades are called "coping" blades. They are prized by master craftsmen of leather, wood, textiles, etc, for their ability to do super fine cuts & even shapes. Here is a fact: "Production" knife companies CANNOT AFFORD to put a perfect razor edge on their knives. You take a brand new blade that has been heat treated, annealled & ground from a blank. Now, go sharpen it to perfection. Time it & see how long it takes. Now, multiply that by dozens, if not hundreds of knives PER DAY. You would have to pay a small army of craftsmen to keep up. And it would add an incredible price increase to every knife & slow down sales. Would you rather pay 20 extra bucks or do it yourself? That's the truth. Actually, GEC does a pretty good job with theirs. I would like to see any of us use a STONE WHEEL the way those old masters do it, with quick one-handed passes, and not screw up on a bunch of blades & scratch the crap out of em. Back to the drawing board for "that knife". I would be scared to try........with a stone wheel? Not ME.......ha ha. You did an excellent job on those EZ open mods. And making those pen blades into coping blades. That's a sweet SFO. You should see the SFO I got from Mike Latham, it's a single spear blade EZ open in smooth ivory bone. It has all the same stuff, like the match striker long pull.........PLUS a really nice liner lock!!! Rob at ApostleP has it right now, to do a video on it soon. Unfortunately, they all sold out. I just love it when you come out with a whole slew of traditional knife videos Randy. I always look forward to them. Thanks man!!!

@@larrymackerethjr.3812 Thanks for the kind words Larry. I'm now 60 yrs old, and I grew up at the tail end of an era where traditional knives were about to lose their quality, not to mention all the great old factories in which very few remained in the 60's & 70's. Practically every man & boy in the south had a traditional pocketknife when I was a kid. I grew up carrying & using the #54 Case Trapper. So finally, around 2010, I decided to really dive in and start collecting & researching traditional folder history going all the way back to the mid 1800's here in America. A sea of information was at hand, and I'm still learning. I propositioned Rob of youtube ch: "TheApostleP" to start a joint effort on traditional folders, the famous old factories, the various patterns, and their history. I would supply knives from my collection for both new GEC knives as well as very old knives, and write a complete detailed history of various old factories for each video. The series is called: "Traditional Knives Anthology" on Rob's channel, where he shows my knives and reads the body of work I researched & wrote, which requires a lot of time & effort. Over 20 videos in the series beginning about 10 yrs ago I believe. Check em out, if ya haven't already. Go to Rob's homepage on his channel & select "Play Lists"......scroll down & you'll see "Traditional Knives Anthology". We still manage a new video once in a great while, as we are both very busy these days. Thanks again Larry. Steve.....Melbourne, Fl.

Love the video! The easy open hole isn't my thing but I am a bit unusual my self. Not a lot of spendy blades my self but I do own two case One brand new and another from the late 40s and a old boker camp knife from 51. Other then that my main collection is new bucks and old.... old timers . No desire to own any new old timers due to radical difference in quality between the new and the old and horrible compared to my bucks
