You are one of the Life Savers thrown to us drowning newbies on RUclips , honestly your tutorials have helped me through some dark days of trying to understand how to play with the bow , thank you.
Great video - Jason is ace! I've already picked up tips just from this (wounded animal sums up my bowing perfectly) - looking forward to the full course.
Thanks for this, it's really useful. The idea of looking down and seeing the top of the bow was really helpful as well as when you demonstrated the poor tone that results from being too far from the bridge. The biggest drawback of video lessons is not being able to get feedback from the teacher. Telling the students how to know whether or not we are doing something correctly is really helpful.
It's really hard to say as it's different for all basses...but a 'low' string height would typically be around 4mm on the G string and 7mm (measured at the end of the fingerboard). This is a rough guide and shouldn't be followed as it may not be possible to lower the strings that much on your bass without string noise. The set up and strings will make a big difference. If you want to get the heights as low as possible I would recommend an adjustable bridge so you can find that point on your bass. Good luck :-)

Great to hear, I'm glad it helped :-)
Could you guys make a video on sixteenth notes on the lower strings?
We might be able to cover this in a future video.
Awesome! Thank you!
What is optimum string heights for comfortable thumb position playing especially jazz pizzicato?
