As an engineer, that 3D printed jig insert was absolutely brilliant!
If you want to have a higher degree of precision over the spacing, you could either use a digital caliper to set the position of each insert relative to some fixed reference point, or you could print a Vernier scale onto the top edge of the insert and print a matching scale to be attacheched to the top of the wood. A Vernier scale could theoretically give you the ability to control thickness down to below 0.001in (0.0254mm) by eye without extra tools. However the digital calipers are generally simpler to use, if you've got some money to spend on them and don't mind having to remeasure everytime you set the jig up
Me totally understanding what you said.
I don't.
@@ctcrusader7479 in the following video, imagine the top edge of the 3D printed inserts he made as having the 11 marks, with the wood jig having ten marks. This can measure very very tiny distance changes easily
ruclips.net/video/F9bThpevHfA/видео.html
@@ctcrusader7479 He just said you could use a ruler [caliper] to make a guide, or print a ruler onto the guide.
I definitely understood that
😬
I understood all of that
I really did

The creativity and ingenuity involved in creating different kinds of yaruki never ceases to amaze me. That jig for doing the diagonal cuts is very clever!
The engineering behind making this yaruki is so phenomenal, it inspires me to maybe try my hand with making something of my own 😅
Agreed. Them being able to do it after giving up for awhile and taking a long break is really inspiring
The 3D printed jig is very smart, I wouldn't have thought of that.

Even though I don’t do woodworking, I still really appreciate how in depth your videos are about the process
OOH, those 3D printed jigs with the catch-flaps are INGENIOUS!
Kudos! Very well done!
i love how it twists! now i’m curious about how these would work as table legs…
floppy table hehe

Not quite the same thing since it's the 90 degree cuts rather than diagonal, but he's got a video on that too.

Your Yaruki innovations are wonderful to see. Congratulations on inventing a useful jig setup!

wow, the twisting is really interesting! this one seems so flexible, I wonder if it's stronger compared to the other yaruki

I feel this is one of the few applications in modern life where the hand tool method would be easier to implement. I would have given up and used a hand saw for these cuts.
However technology is always more efficient once you discover the proper tools to help.

When you say it took half a year to make do you mean it took 6 months to figure out how to cut it efficiently? It looks like you have found a great method. I had never seen wood cut this way before I found your channel. It is so satisfying to watch the way it bends when you finish each piece.🙂
