I had a Bit One keyboard version. I bought it used for $50 because 3 voices were blown leaving only 3 voice polyphony. I did like the sound but ended up trading it for a Korg Poly-800 and Poly-61.
Bel pezzo Paolo, complimenti. Saluti. Fabrizio
You never seem to hear majestic and beautiful sounds like this anymore in mainstream music. I cannot find anything to criticise which is VERY rare for me! I love all of it!
I remember seeing the Bit 99 ads in Keyboard and wondering how difficult it must have been to program - but I suppose the Bit 01 was pretty easy? I don't knowingly hear much of this -- it's nice to but a "sound" with the gear. COOL! Sounds really nice. New subscriber here!
The 99 and the 01 rack are pretty much the same. They are both hard to program but not at horrible as the original bit one. BUT! someone made a free VST editor for them all so you can program them easy in the DAW :D .. So if you use a DAW anyway and ever come across one of these for cheap GET ONE! ..
I've been listening and watching your fantastic compositions and well-produced video and have been enjoying them immensely. Listening to this composition had me wonder if you've ever listened to "Moog Cookbook's" rock cover albums, and what you thought of them. Best wishes to you.
Thank you, Ken, yes, I bought the Moog Cookbook's CDs when it came out in the '90s, mostly because I was reading Keyboard Magazine and they had a good article on them (this was just before the Internet took off, people still used paper magazines back then). I haven't listened to it in a long time, but at the time, I thought it was cool and they were one of the few first bands to do electronic covers. The problem with covers is that you're leveraging other people's already established and popular music. It's a lot harder to come up with original material that people want to listen to.
Haha... sorry! I knew it was some computer noise. Since I have used both I mixed it up!! But maybe he was running Windows 8+ on a Mac?? (is that with 8+ possible??)
RE: Windows vs. Mac for music production... Not that Windows isn't capable, but it has such horrible lag issues w/o low-level ASIO drivers whereas Mac (and even Linux) has no such need. Even my 30yo Atari ST (8MHz CPU) has better MIDI timing than your avg new Windows PC (2.5-3.5GHz) as-is and it astonishes me that Microsoft has never addressed it themselves (thus the need for ASIO drivers). Why is it that Windows seems to be the only OS w/ this issue? I've even seen posts online from Windows users who switched to Mac asking where to find ASIO drivers for Mac only to get replies telling them they don't need such a thing. If Microsoft cares about multimedia professionals using their OS, they really need to fix this at the OS level.
how THE HELL did u achieve to get a CHOIR sound out of it??? lol. really...tell me, i own a bit 99, for a long time now...i certainly wann a TRY THAT OUT! (i love this machine, trust me. i never thought, this might be posssible.
There are actually choir patches in the factory programs already... what you can do to learn that technique is load them in, analyze them, and then you can even do your own variants: synthmania.com/bit_99.htm
@@SynthManiaDotCom i NEVER had the factory programs on it to begin with...lol. But now, that i know, this is another reason, to get me the newly released CONTROLLER BOX with KNOBS for it. (Stereoping) ....I actually learned about synthesis by using the matrix printed on the units front. Lol. But just by listening to the link's factory sound, i can imagine, what to do....it just never dawned on me, that this might be possible. My favourite sound, i did on it is a 99% accurate "It's more fun to compute" Bass Sound i recreated on it. I used it on a Song, and Friends asked me, why i use such an outdated "sample". Nobody believed me, i actually did it myself on THAT thing, not on a minimoog or something. Some call the crumar's " cheesy" and "too italian sounding"... I keep asking myself...: "well, what is WRONG with that?" lol. I'm not the italo Disco guy, but sho nuff the bit 99 is PERFECT for Electro. (That's basically what i am in for) I use this thing a lot, maybe it's even my favourite synth in here, next to my Juno 106....
Total random - it could have happened while recording too, I don't know what triggered it. I was doing something else while rendering the final mix and didn't notice it -
+SynthMania That particular sound is the sound Windows makes when a hardware device is disconnected from your PC. I really don't get how that leaked into your sound though. I don't know how you have your recording setup, but it should only record sound from the sound card inputs, or whatever it is you are using to record. There is a way to record the "Stereo Mix", but that might cause an echo if that was on, so that's probably not the issue.
It is really cool to hear an 80s tune with modern fidelity.
Thousands of artists are doing it now.
The sound of the Crumar Bit 01 and Bit 99 really amaze me. I wish someone would recreate those synths... great job as always!
We love your song so much!!! 80s forever! The Bit1 was the first Synthesizer i got in touch with. I think it was 1985 :)
The bulb sound kind of works.
Blub, Blub Blub ...
It even was in tune lol
I think it's the "usb unplugged" noise. I wonder if he knocked a cable.
This is so pure 80's but with bright fidelity. At times this song i just wait Sandra start sing :) so much memories this kind stuff.
Sandra or Limahl! :)
It had 303 likes before I upvoted it. I guess we have to get it up to 505, now!
Viva Italia!
The bass is groovy. Catchy lick.
Very nice. The vox pad is killing me, in a good way.
Remember my early synth times in the eighties. Great mood.
Sweet! Puts a big smile on my face! :-D Inspiring!
I'll go to my "studio" at once now ...

That choir sound is luscious.
The blub sound was cool... I was sort of expecting it in the next bar after hearing it once:)) Gran lavoro, come sempre!
Dang I really really to find one these asap!!! Great job and great synth!!!
Something intriguing about the Crumar Bit One. That bass sounds so phatt.
I had a Bit One keyboard version. I bought it used for $50 because 3 voices were blown leaving only 3 voice polyphony. I did like the sound but ended up trading it for a Korg Poly-800 and Poly-61.
This thing sounds amazing. I know very little about these but now I need to know more.

@0:14 the pad sound reminds me of the movie 'Hardware' with Dylan McDermott. The soundtrack is 'The order of death'.
Bless you! Fantastic piece.Got some discolights ON @ home & going for it! :D
(and that's really something in these times)
Greetings from Holland
OMG!!.. it's that soft, warm and clear sound that does it. it sort of slides into you.. genius!! thanks man!
The brass sound is like Howard jones track I forget the name. It’s so sick !
Bel pezzo Paolo, complimenti.

Wow man, you've made another masterpiece! This one's going to my favourites! :-D
This is awesome!!!!!
Adrián, thank you!
You never seem to hear majestic and beautiful sounds like this anymore in mainstream music. I cannot find anything to criticise which is VERY rare for me! I love all of it!
the very first synth sound is called bit 01 pulse
it's a time machine back to the 80's

The blub blub blub is even in time and in tune hahaha!
I've become addicted to this one
What a beautiful song! Thank you for composing and sharing. Nice patches, and choice of voicing. :)

Nice. Got any links for that editor? I've been looking at the used gear sites ... kind of drooling now. :)
Yer here is a link to the win version download2.nust.na/pub4/sourceforge/b/bi/bitcontrol.berlios/ .. :)
oh wait! it only works with the 01 and 99 .. so the bit one is still without an editor ... so i would not recommend that one.
the Bit One only support note on/off via midi
This is awesome, love the composition too :)
Never heard of these before. Great demo ;-)
(Very CoolPunch!)
This is my jam right now

I bought a Bit 01for super cheap in the mid 90's it did not work very well, and I got rid of it. I wish I would have got it fixed, and really used it.
this sounds awesome I love it
Vamos a la playa or so:-)))
Very inspiring stuff!
i could easily play this in my dj set
Nice song, I like it!
love the 80s
I just danced the slowest, yet the funkiest dance of my entire life.

This instrument somehow sounds interessting.
Fantastico :D Thank you....
Grazie, Michele!
This is really, really amazing!
AWESOME
Very nice music! Love it!! Nice Apple signature blub! It kind of works! :D
Actually, it's a Windows 8+ device disconnect sound.
Haha... sorry! I knew it was some computer noise. Since I have used both I mixed it up!! But maybe he was running Windows 8+ on a Mac?? (is that with 8+ possible??)
yes it is possible, you can run win 8 same time with osx parallels, but it doesn't make noise very easy you need to configure little bit
Thanks for the info, lownrgy!! :)
sounds like I'm playing Sonic the Hedgehog! :)
It's a cool instrument , I don't remember this one at all
Sweet sounds! :)

Does the bit01 have the same sounds as the bit one synth?
basically all three versions are the same. so, yes...!
Wow! Fantastic! The bass sound instantly took me to Blancmange. What year were these released?
Thanks! '85
Are the drums compressed ?
Sounds amazing
Perfect demo, perfect mix
They sound like they have a gated reverb.
+xnonsuchx Otherwise it wouldn't be 80s
Yeah... check the prices on Ebay for the Bit 01. No fun.Interesting little synth, but no way worth what they're asking for it.

you got the bit 99 too right?
if so both synthesizers are nearly identical in architecture.
Howard Jones?
What kind of simmons it is? And Bass Drum from simmons?
So the system sound leaked into your audio not while recording but while rendering? How does that work?
