- This is how to fix a crack in the ceiling or wall for good DIY. Very simple project that anyone can do it yourself. A crack in the wall or ceiling is usually caused by structural movement, poor installation or inadequate support. If you have access to the back of the Drywall, gyprock, sheetrock, plasterboard or dry wall then you can ensure it never comes back by simply adding and providing the support needed so the crack will never come back. Bill, my favorite part of your videos is when you say things are common issues so I don’t feel like I’m the only one with all these fuckin problems. Thank you! Doing this in the kitchen this weekend. Perfect timing.
Lol, you’re welcome 👍👍
One of the best channels I've seen for diy. Well presented and easy to understand instructions.
👍👍👍
Thank you so much for your clear, straightforward instructions. You've got a great talent in helping beginners understand why something has happened and what can be done to fix it without creating more fear/stress. Your videos are really encouraging for newbies to give it a go. 👍
Everything is easy once you know how👍
Very true. People like you help us to live a better life.
Just bought a place and getting into renos for the first time with quite a few ceiling cracks. Love your work Bill.
Great video, I've been a Decorator 40 years but you still learn something new everyday
We’re all forever learning 👍👍👍
Brilliant job
Absolutely amazing job, great finish. Well done, Bill!
Thanks 👍👍👍
This is brilliant, thanks.

Brilliant..... thankyou
Good proper repair, i like it!
Thanks mate that's really help U are very good 👍 thanks again cheers from Perth western Australia 👍
Awesome Bill. Thanks again. I learn so much from you.
Simple things will save you heaps of money👍👍👍
love your videos Bill, makes me feel like I can give this a go and get a half competent job done!
You’re very welcome 👍👍👍
Thank you SO much Bill. I've just cut some tiles from a kitchen wall and have screwed a patching panel into place and filled the gaps as you have described. The application of fibre tape was the bit I was gonna figure out myself, until you made it crystal clear how to properly use it. Love the videos mate. Please keep it up 👍
You’re very welcome 👍
Bill, what a great video - you are a class act !
👍
Thanks Bill. Good work and explanation.
👍
Great job
Excellent thanks ❤❤
Awesome job well done. We have so many poorly filled cracks all over our bedroom ceiling in our 1930's house the whole ceiling could probably do with new plasterboard!
Sometimes it’s better and easier to start fresh👍👍
Hi Bill, just after your recommendation for a mitre saw for the beginner diy’er. thanks mate
Thank You Bill.
You’re welcome 👍
Nice job.
Beautiful job.
If it's a wall and one side of the crack moves, what can you do to reinforce it?
This is art
Great video bill... im a total novice, could I ask by priming then final coat do you just use a watered down paint to apply a coat to prime before the final coat or do you use some over primer before the final coat? 😬🙏
Hadnt thought about using cornice cement as a base coat. Top suggestion. Particularly for drying time. Thanks for another informative video.
Once you use it you will love it👍
Awesome video Bill, cornice cement the best product to use for cracks 👍👍👍
That was very satisfying to watch, and love the accent. My problem is that my attic is teeny tiny plus crowded with duct work and it’s bloddy hot here in Florida 😅 I’d have to see how to squeeze in there and get those wood support beams installed.. thank you!
Nice one Billy! I've got a heap small rennos to do from fixing cracked Gyprock to replacing sliding door locks so your tutorials are becoming a staple so I know what the hell I'm doing 👌
Great work Bill.. just told my friend a few hours ago that l need to paint my bedroom, spot on timing
👍👍👍
Thank Bill. Would you be able to do another video on how to fix cracked and split corner cornices and broken door architraves please? Thanks
Top job!
How much would you charge for that sort of repair?
I don’t think people realise that all plaster joins aren’t truly flush when taped and mudded correctly. This was a great video 👍
Blown away! How did you get so good at so many different things? Very impressed.
Nothing is hard , just take a bit of knowledge and can do attitude 👍
How you go about a small hairline crack that goes through an area of the cornice down to underneath (onto wall). Is the tape and compound method the way to go?
Great clip. Good insight and easy to fix. Thanks.
Glad I can help 👍
Love using cornice cement instead too! Best tip and holds up better IMO
👍
hi have a similar situation with the ceiling roof, the ceiling has no where to get into the roof, because its a thin roof ? do you have any ideas how to repair it in this situation.
Hi bill....could you offer me some advice if possible please...after a leak in the bathroom upstairs the ceiling downstairs has a crack..1 side of the crack has dropped a couple off mm, its not much but I can visibly see its dropped, I cant get under the bath to lift the floorboards to add an extra peice of timber where I would need to to give me something to screw the dropped side of the ceiling into😢... any suggestions on how to proceed? I'm thinking my only option is to use some mud and tape to repair the crack and spread the mud out a foot or so either side of the crack so the drop isn't so visible but im worried the ceiling not being gripped up on the side where its dropped and has a slight movement in it will just result in the crack reoccurring.
Any suggestions would be great 👍
Great video too 👍 👏
Please come to my house! I have ceiling cracks in every single room 😱
Thanks for this video!
Beautiful job Bill! I gotta get a pair of those joint knives
Makes work much easier 👍
So what do you do if you have this issue but don't have access to the inside of the ceiling? How do you shore up the drywall along the truss?
Hi Bill, wonderful helpful video - so happy I came across your channel. Please could you advise what joint compound you recommend?
Which country do you live in?
Great info as always Bill! What would you recommend for a crack running along the middle of a cornice that keeps coming back? Just go with no more gaps? Fill seems to let the crack come back and I cant reinforce it
Cornice cracks are usually due to movement. I don’t like repairing cornices and prefer to replace them . I’ll do a video on how to replace them when I get time. Not a fun job👍
Got a crack in the bedroom so i now have the knowledge to fix it big thanks Bill. 👍
You’re very welcome 👍
Which screw are you using for the ceiling ?
Going back through your plaster repair videos Bill as I am now retired and finally having a go at fixing things up at my place. Do you cover fixing internal corners where the paper tape is lifting in any of your videos? Not been able to find anything using the search function.
Unfortunately, I have not uploaded a video on this topic as yet. I’ll add it to my to do list👍
Thanks Bill. What do with cracks running across the flat vertical edge of a cornice where it meets the ceiling
Usually near corners is due to structural movement
Do you have a video for where you can't access the ceiling? I have this downstairs where I can't access the ceiling space...
Love your video. What’s the quarter cement?
Lol, sorry it’s cornice cement 👍
Please explain how much time you waited in between coats, particularly how much time you waited until you applied the last coat? Thank you!
Depends on what compound you use. Always coat when the previous coat is dry
Thanks for another one bill. I think a good episode would be how to replace a broken glass window if possible 👍
👍
Bill, what tap do you use?
Fibafuse 👍
does the fibre fuse make your hand itchy?
Some people say it makes their hand’s itchy, I don’t have a problem with it 👍
PVA-FOAM
👍👍👍
👍👍👍
Try concrete board mesh tape ……
Trust me try it .. ^^
Just use some tape and paint. Simples
Your repair process is correct but do you not own a pan or hawk? Who uses a knife as a holder for their mud?
Lol I’ve got both but prefer to use the knife👍
Looks like bills list a little bit of weight... lol
Lol, Too much work 👍
What the fuck do you have walls there?
👍👍👍
👍👍👍
