@@harshithsubramaniam5924 What a horrible thing to say. So... people who go bankrupt because of medical bills just deserve to die of that cancer or whatever when they can't work because of it or afford it anymore, and people born with disabilities should what...just BEG? WOW, dude. That is foolish. Poverty is not always a choice either. People work hard and still live in poverty. You are an obtuse fool if you really believe that. The math is very clear that when the cost of living increases 300% while wages do not increase at all over three decades it results in more poverty. Math is no liar. Besides, every other developed country sees the overall fiscal benefit to a non profit, taxpayer provided healthcare system, the core being prevention is worth a pound of cure approach as opposed to the keep them sick and in debt approach that capitalist healthcare employs. The fact is, Genius, you pay MORE in taxpayer subsidies for all the unpaid, for profit emergency room visits to hospitals than the M4A system would cost to keep the entire populace more healthy and subsequently, more productive.
      Enjoy your new information.

He got no Peace At Last headline from any media (lib/con/corp/indy), nothing but bi-partisan scorn. Had he got that, I probably wouldn't have been affected in the same way. I kind of feel isolated. The lefties won't recognize that ending that war was a Fundamental Change. I think he's grown as a person as potus. His 17 trillion cost for Medicare is way off, and many believe it will be 30 Trillion. Saunders believes this will be paid for largely by the part-nationalisation of the US energy industry, and from tax increases on the fossil fuel industry and other large corporations. If you don’t believe those costs won’t be passed onto workers and consumers your quite frankly..an imbecile!!
He will also be reducing unemployment benefit to pay for this. But that’s ok, he believes his plans will also add 20 million new “green” jobs!!!

So how will a hospital continue to run when insurance companies pay 1.6 to 2.5 times more than the government?
A hospitals operating cost won't go down unless labor is cut.

No copays, no premiums. Nothing. You just show your Medicare card when you first see a doctor, and after that, zip. Just walk in, walk out. Hospitals the same. If you want to have a private doctor, you can, and the government pays about 80% of the fee. Nobody, but nobody, goes bankrupt because of medical bills. And our taxes are lower here too because there is less burden on the state.

So glad you noted "since photos were in black and white." An IL native, 83 now, I saw one of those in a Chicago newspaper in 1963. It introduced me to Sanders. He was 21. There was a policeman "helping" him to the ground for marching against segregation when he was a poli sci undergrad at the U. of Chicago. Later that month he helped organize a busload to DC for MLK's historic "March for Jobs and Freedom" and his memorable "I Have a Dream" speech. The You Tube video, "Bernie Sanders and Civil Rights in Chicago" much impressed.
From the beginning, Bernie has worked--so hard and so smart--on the major issues facing our nation, including civil, economic, environmental, gender, racial and social justice....and for peace. Humble and modest, he's been awarded two honorary degrees. Earned the highest national honors from two of our largest veterans' organizations, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Written two major books: "Our Revolution" in 2016, #3 on the New York Times Best-Seller list, and "Where We Go from Here: Two Years in the Resistance," 2018.
Called "the Energizer Bunny" for good reason, Bernie should be in his 2nd term as our president--but both runs (2016 and 2020) were clearly sabotaged. I don't think we'd let that happen again. He's given our nation so much already as a true public servant: re-elected mayor, re-elected U.S. Rep and now in his 3rd term as U.S. Senator--winning #2 with 71% of the vote. One personal mantra has served him well in every arena: "NotMeUs." Thank you for everything, Bernie.

It's ironic.... Poland is providing free health care to the Ukrainian refugees who have flooded into their country. Somehow Poland can manage this, and yet here in the richest country in the world people go without healthcare unless they can pay for it. There's something not quite right about that ... Americans, it's time we stood up and said enough is enough. Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege. Poland understands that.

I also still think often about that night. Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada had been three strong wins in a row with South Carolina up next. Clyburn had at least been publicly, neutral. The Sanders campaign--staff and volunteers--had been working long, strong and smart in S.C. Then, the DNC reared out of neutral and sent in Buttigieg, Obama, Warren...and Clyburn...to prevent a Sanders sweep, which had certainly been a possibility, especially with Biden faltering.
Buttigieg got a major reward, the Transportation post. Clyburn, something, too. I was surprised at Elizabeth Warren's participation. Still, in December 2017, Bernie and she would write an op-ed piece for the New York Times in joint support of strong childcare funding in the Appropriations bill. Then, for a unique town hall in the Capitol Visitor Center the following March, he included her on a high level six-member panel about the high level of poverty and the income and wealth inequality in our country. He simply does not hold grudges. That a former president got involved at a primary level had probably bothered me the most.

We need Medicare For All here in the U.S., especially during this time with the Coronavirus pandemic!
What's more "pro-life" than ensuring that every person living here has guaranteed affordable healthcare regardless of their job?
If we all had access to basic healthcare, we would have the "freedom" to live long lives and rarely have to worry about medical bankruptcies.
Taxes will go up, but the overall costs will go down.
If some of us need additional healthcare than Medicare, then we have the "choice" to get additional insurance.
If every other developed country (Canada, Germany, U.K., France, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Taiwan, Japan, S.K., H.K., Singapore, Australia, and N.Z.) can implement this system and save money, then why can't we do the same and help "Make America Great Again" for everybody at least on the issue of healthcare?
If American citizens die from lacking access to affordable health insurance then we are failing our country's promise of defending "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" for its citizens as well as "promoting the general welfare" of everyone living here.

    • @aylbdrmadison1051
      @aylbdrmadison1051 2 года назад +6

@@danwalton2698 : Let me start by saying I essentially fully agree with you. But feel the need to clear up some terms, because I see how misusing terms has weakened public perceptions of many things, and that's absolutely by design. _The Southern Strategy_ (basically the beginning of the mass of racist dog whistles) is a good example to read about.
So _"left wing of the GOP"_ You sort of get it, but socialists are left-wing, and capitalists are right-wing. That's it. The liberal/authoritarian axis and the progressive/conservative/regressive axis are not the same things. Most democrats by far are capitalists, making the democrat party the center-right-wing, whereas the republicans are the extreme-right-wing, with independents who see themselves as "in between" the two parties are the far-right-wing.
There has never been a major party for the left in the U.S. Only during the great depression did the left gain much power at all. This is exactly why our government is failing The People.
Manchinenema are not centrists, they are far-right-wing capitalists at best, and I assert they are fascist simps, like anyone who so obviously supports the republicans now (and the republicans are indeed fascists, feel free to fact check me and read _The Fourteen Characteristics of Fascism)._
As far as Americans not caring about each other: here are some actual numbers to consider: in 2020 at their most numerous ever, the republicans represented less than 30% of the U.S. (74 million out of 255 million). On Jan 6th 2021, many thousands of republicans immediately left the party, officially. By the summer of 2021 we found out that only about 2/3 of what was left of the republican party still wanted the orange fascist as president.
That comes out to less than 20% of the country, giving them the full benefit of the doubt, not even including the many thousands who left the party after J6. That is less than 1 in 5 Americans. Yes that's really bad, and certainly a danger to democracy that we have so many fascists, but it's nowhere near what center-right-wing corporate media like CNN, and extreme-right-wing fascist media like Fox makes it out to be.
For many decades (centuries and even millennia really, if one goes back before there was a U.S.), We The People have been lied to about what these terms even mean. The greatest lie ever told is a perfect example..
Here is a riddle: _can you name even one country in known history that has ever been classless, moneyless, or stateless? Let alone all three at once._ Because that is the very definition of Communism. The actual fact is that *no* Communist country has ever existed in known history. Yet most of the people on the planet still believe this absurdly blatant lie. I did for half my life too, until I actually read the source material and the lies immediately became evident.
So I'm not berating you or anyone else for believing any of these lies, we were *all* indoctrinated as children. I simply strive to lay bare at least the most obvious of these lies.
As for leftists in our government: there aren't any (to our great detriment). Although people like Bernie and AOC are likely left-wing at heart, neither of them openly expresses nor pushes for anything more than centrism; a mixture of socialism and capitalism like what the U.S. had more of before 1981 when the reagan administration began paving the road to fascism in America, starting with trickledown.
I wish you and all my fellow Earthlings peace and prosperity. ^-^
We can all have it too, all that stands in our way is bigotry: the great divider. That is all that has allowed one or a few people to so completely dominate and control hundreds, thousands, and even millions of times their number, for thousands of years now.
When we humans finally rid ourselves of bigotry, we will all stand in solidarity and take back both the peace and the prosperity that has been stolen from all of humanity. ❤🌍🌎🌏
Note: You may already know some, or most of this. In particular I post knowing others can read this too, others that likely need to far more than someone like you who is obviously both intelligent and wise. I do not mean be presumptive beyond addressing what you've posted in the comment I'm replying to. My apologies if it even seems so. I do tend to post walls of texts. lols
There are a whole lot of lies and distractions We The People need to debunk if we are to progress beyond what the majority of democrats are trying to conserve (because they are mostly conservatives), and what the majority of republicans are trying to regress back to (because they are mostly regressives, not conservatives: _make America great *again)*._

    • @virginialawler7725
      @virginialawler7725 2 года назад +1

So Right...on both points! Actually, to me, he seems 20 years younger than his age right now. Of course, I'm 83, which might influence my opinion of Bernie a tad. Particularly quick of mind, with a lifetime of knowledge and commitment to All of Us, he also has the continuing stamina of a far...far...younger man. Could that stem in part from being a competitive long-distance runner in high school in the Bronx? Or, perhaps because he also managed to graduate from the highly regarded...challenging...University of Chicago, while also a student activist--member of CORE (the Congress on Racial Equality) and SNCC (the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee...sprung from an overnight in jail by the NAACP.
You're in good company with your call for Bernie to run for POTUS again. I've read that many times over many months as a volunteer poster trying to keep the record straight about Bernie...and also perhaps help educate new recruits. It's great that more than one poster has noted some version of "Third Times a Charm" when urging him to run for President again.
I don't know yet what I think about that road yet, not that what I think matters at all. It's just that he was specifically thwarted by the DNC, and it seemed to me and thousands of others that "the elite" didn't play fair, either time. Evenso, in 2016, starting at about 3% as a relative unknown from a very small state, he won 22 states and over 3 million votes. Still, in 2020, even with the especially huge and enthusiastic rallies and long Election Day lines, not enough votes were tallied for him then either. The opportunities seemed there: 1) early voting, 2) voting by mail, usually well publicized Election Days. I'll never understand it, altho' I'll always believe he somehow didn't get reasonable media coverage, for whatever reason.
