The entire cultural thing is so much BS. They never once have said the "N" word in any of their songs. There is a Korean word that sounds like it but means something completely different. The song Lisa is dancing to is sung by someone else so fault them. To her it was a song with a good beat for her to dance to. It is cultural APPRECIATION. I'm black myself so im commenting and saying lisa already gets a lot of backlash by black Kpop fans in general. because of the terrible misuse of AAVE they give Lisa in their songs she gets called all types of names sadly. also Lisa has done CA which was her wearing braids. did it once and didn't get called out and the second time fans told her that braids were offensive. she apologized and said she will be more careful in the future. just wanted to say to me I truly believe she loves hip hop and is a big fans of it but sadly bc of her mistakes people truly believe she's just a culture vulture. I’m black and honestly people that claim CA for braids most of the time aren’t even in the right because the word cultural appropriation itself is a word only applies 1. When you try to claim another culture as your own 2. Use an aspect of a minority’s culture to portray a negative stereotype 3.. directly profit off that culture eg a white person selling durags. The word was created to police people that take advantage of cultures in that way because those 3 things have real life consequences. Someone who is non black wearing braids doesn’t have any effect on the black community as a whole and therefore isn’t enough to make that act cultural appropriation. And people don’t understand that because the word cultural appropriation is thrown around for every context and now people on stan Twitter who don’t know the proper meaning have taught themselves to get mad at someone that’s simply appreciating the culture rather than making fun of it or stealing it. Black people who aren’t invested in stan Twitter know this which is why you see so many videos of black reactors defending her on this issue. Also the second time she wore braids wasn’t even box braids it was just regular braids itself so I really don’t know why people made a big deal about it. Literally around that same time I saw other idols and dancers wearing braids and no one said anything about it. Also she really only missed aave one time and people ran with it saying she’s a vulture. And it was literally because she was given lyrics to the song to sing and ofc she’s not gonna know that the word “finna” isnt suppose to be used that way. In regards to Lisa specifically a lot of people that constantly talk shit about her are just doing it because they don’t like her. They don’t like that she’s the most popular female kpop idol and they don’t like that she’s from Thailand and not Korea, a lot of them single her out as if she’s the worst person on this planet when in reality she’s one of the kindest and realest idols you’ll ever see. One example would be the Giselle situation where she said the n slur a couple days ago. People on Twitter and Tik tok were way less rude and understanding than when the picture came out if Lisa’s money teasers. This really shocked me because saying the n word is really something everyone agrees is racist but cultural appropriation in itself is mostly ignorance. That was proof enough to me that there are really double standards when it comes to her VS any other kpop idol. She apologized for the braids more genuinely than I’ve ever seen an idol apologize ever. She hardly goes on social media and knows NONE of her own achievements she doesn’t see herself as a celebrity at all. And on top of that she’s the one in her group that puts everyone else’s happiness first. People really misunderstand her a lot to a shocking extent. I also think it’s because she’s so badass on stage and in videos that people think that her persona portrays to real life and they don’t take the time to see who she really is. Also notice that most of the issues with Lisa is the same shit that happens to regular people in real life. We all use words incorrectly at times, we all try different hairstyles and there are times where we follow trends without knowing where they came from, but because she’s a celebrity, people treat her as if she’s suppose to be perfect and they don’t cut her the same slack that they do regular people (this goes for all idols excluding the racist ones of course).
