      Learn then
      Abraham after this married Keturah, by whom six sons were born to him, men of courage, and of sagacious minds: Zambran, and Jazar, and Madan, and Madian, and Josabak, and Sous. Now the sons of Sous were Sabathan and Dadan. The sons of Dadan were Latusim, and Assur, and Luom. The sons of Madiau were Ephas, and Ophren, and Anoch, and Ebidas, and Eldas. Now, for all these sons and grandsons, Abraham contrived to settle them in colonies; and they took possession of Troglodytis, and the country of Arabia the Happy, as far as it reaches to the Red Sea. It is related of this Ophren, that he made war against Libya, and took it, and that his grandchildren, when they inhabited it, called it (from his name) Africa. ;
(it's actually Shemites that was first called Africans)
and that from the other two (Apher and Japbran) the country of Africa took its name, because these men were auxiliaries to Hercules, when he fought against Libya and Antaeus; and that Hercules married Aphra's daughter, and of her he begat a son, Diodorus; and that Sophon was his son, from whom that barbarous people called Sophacians were denominated."

Africa: Originated from the Egyptian word “Afru-ika”which is translated to “Motherland.”(Dr. Van Sertima)
“Africa,” comes from the Arabic word firk or frik, which means separate, divide, or conquer. (Sacred Woman by Queen Afua)
It is also reported the spelling of Africa originated from Romans who conquered Carthage and identified the continent as Africa terra (feminine form of Africus) meaning the land of the North African tribe, Afri.
Other theories for the origin of the spelling of Africa stems from the adjective for Africa in Latin“Afer,” which means Black or Dark and “Aprica” meaning “Sunny.”

Nyankopon (Akan people) and Olodumare(Yoruba people) are the names of the Supreme form of God in Spiritual/Abstract form.

Think of Olodumare as all of Time and Energy(Concept), and Olorun as Space and Matter(Tangible), but all of that combined is still most formally said is called Olodumare. Olodumare/Olorun IS all of existence itself both real and ideal, the names just describe the ACTIVE aspect of the same omnipotent, infinite/eternal all encompassing entity. Obatala however is a man-god, the first son of Olorun,( that is also Olodumare) Obatala is kind of like what jesus is but not really. Obatala is the physical King of the Orishas and is responsible for humanity creation in physical form but Olodumare/Olorun gave spirit and life to it. Orunmila first son of Olodumare(that is also Olorun) is also a Man-God but focused more so on the spiritual and responsible for the spirits and fates of humanity and grants Orishas their powers and spiritual guidance and humanity their energy.

I love this video, but my only criticism would be there really is no such thing as “African religion” but African-religions. The diversity in African ethnic religions can not be overstated. With that being said, this video was written & presented marvelously, & successfully conveyed one of the few elements similar across most religions of African origin. That being, the nature of a monotheistic & it’s council of deities.

In an earlier video you made about when the Portuguese first encountered Africans they didn't have the words to describe some of the social practices they witnessed. It suggests that learning about African culture is severely handicapped through the words and values of an entirely different society. I think African religion also can't be fully understood in the same vein. A person would have to unlearn and relearn the African way of thinking about these subjects. If you or anyone in the comments have a book, website or name of a scholar who specialises in helping to learn the African perspective on these subjects, it would be appreciated

I always felt like whether these spiritual powerful entities exist or not in any tangible format is completely beside the point. The point is what kind of impact these ideas have on our perception of life and how we choose to live as a result of it. The universe is filled with so many incredible secrets that one cannot help but meditate and ponder on it, sometimes.

Human intelligence requires us to wonder why we exist and to question what existence is. Even pre-humans might have had these thoughts. This could have led to creation myths and religion, and it had to take place in Africa because that's where humans and pre-humans came into being.

To understand; all that needs to be precieved is the concept of Family.
One man, one woman. Which leads to offspring. Which turns into Family, which turns to, relatives, which in turn comes to clan, then becomes tribe, in turn becoming nation, governed by "THE" MOST HIGH ONE! and His standing power/(host).
Whether or not this perspective is accepted and/or believed is the impetuous/start of worship. Which is entirely different from "religion" in the first place. Family deals with order/place.
"...pure and undefiled religion..." on the other hand is something inside of right(ness). Good work young sir. Keep'em thinking! Blessings for you and your work. Considering contributing... time will tell.😊 I see your thirst.🤲🏾. Stay strong!!

Would highly encourage looking at pre "Hindu" religion in India as well. This is another example of spirituality before religion which became more organized (and politicized" as time went on. We've named this now as "Vedic religion" but it's often understood that this was not a religion, and in fact had no name since it was just part of life.
There is lineage of African people arriving to Southern India very early, and the oldest god in Hinduism is also considered being too checked out and self interested to appeal to directly (or even to have temples to).

Maybe the ancestors believed in entities and what we refer to as deities because that's what they actually experienced?! Why is it so hard for people to grasp the concept of spiritual entities that exist in another realm that intertwines with our human existence? When I hear people questioning this reality it let's me know they haven't experienced this level of reality. Which is fine, because this level of awareness isn't meant for everyone.
In order to believe in your ancestors and their continued influence in your life today, just as you would believe in God and Jesus, in order for them to be real, you have to first believe it is possible. And in order to believe its possible, you have to first be humble in your heart to know that you do not know everything there is to know about life. Only then will you see. And when you do see you may not even believe it. It takes time.

I believe a birth of a child can significantly impact one’s emotions to make them believe In supernatural. For a man to witness a woman giving birth is supernatural in it self. To hear the first cry of a baby it’s like a miracle. So I can’t imagine what that experience had to be like for the first two humans to have an offspring it must have been like a miracle because I’m sure they didn’t know anything about human anatomy it’s been the first ever experience that ever happened. It’s magic it’s enchanting it’s supernatural and if you keep having more babies and more babies it’s religion . This is my fairy I just came up with while listening to you driving home lol
