    Really enjoyed this one. Loved the drive through the neighborhood and the walk up to the canal. The ship departure with that fantastic lighting was the cherry on the sundae. Real pleasure to watch.

    Perelik and her sisters are definitely among my favorite of the modern handy-size bulk carriers! At least from an aesthetic standpoint. I hope the crew like the accommodations and don't find them difficult to operate.

    She might make Italy by Christmas at that pace. 😅 She looks real good with the sun shining on her. Do you know why she was designed w/o a bulbous nose?

      @@danielmorris3687 From what I gather she’s designed specifically as a laker/saltie hybrid, similar to the Viking cruise ships. So she combines elements of the two ship types.

    Moin! I've got a really difficult question to you: What species are those trees on the lake shore (1:03)?

    • @jonathanellsworth21
      @jonathanellsworth21  Месяц назад +2

      Lol not difficult at all actually! My two big passions are trees and ships. Those two are boxelders (species of maple), there were also a few ash in there up until a couple months ago, the borers killed them. Was studying forestry/arbory before the pandemic hit, never really got back into it

      @@jonathanellsworth21 You got a very fulfilling profession. I only knew Acer negundo from some gardens, where they live a sheltered life. But these must be quite hardy if they can thrive in that exposed place.
      Next saturday, I'll take a long-planned trip to a tree farm in Holstein, hoping to return with a Wild Service Tree that shows the autumn colors I prefer. A ferry crossing downstream of Hamburg will be the second highlight. With a little luck, there can be impressive encounters.

    Some sort of weird upload error around 4:52, not sure what’s going on there but it’s only on the RUclips video. Can try reuploading the video if people want but it only lasts a couple seconds

      Did somebody jump when she blew her horn? lol 😂That can’t be louder then the bridge’s horns. I’d have to prepare myself for the bridge’s horns. I’m surprised they don’t hear them at the Soo. Those sound like train horns. I can’t remember exactly how many are up there. Too many as far as I’m concerned lol Sorry I have to tease you when you jump, me bad. 😊
