You live in Naples because your ancestors were colonizers. It’s one thing to name the violence in a place but what you did wasn’t there. You wanted this reactions tho. You’re clearly racist at heart. As a person born and raised in Montgomery, AL, the you Sir are misinformed, biased, and slanderous. The city is in decline and there are dangerous areas for sure, but this video is a very poor representation of my home town. We aren't hillbillies, inbred, gang members, or lazy. I was a teen during the height of the crack epidemic. This is when the decline began, yet my city produced doctors, nurses, architects, artists, entrepreneurs, scientists, educators, engineers, chefs, and almost any other professional you can imagine. Montgomery, despite its many deficits, produces more success stories than tragedies. If you're going to tell our story, please tell it in its entirety.

This video is VERY misleading. There are 200,000 residents in Montgomery, Alabama....the number of people, who live in the neighborhoods, shown on the video COMBINED is less than 3000 people. So, how does it look in the neighborhoods that the "other" 170,000 people live ? It looks very nice. Please take the time to view neighborhoods such as Deer Creek, Brekenridge, Monticello Cove, Wynlakes, Sturbridge, Stoneybrooke, Fox Hollow, New Park, Tuscany, Ryan Ridege......ALL BEAUTIFUL neighborhoods that most of the 170, 000 "other" Montgomerians live. When you tried to steer Maxwell Airforce Base workers/ Airmen & Women to Prattville, Alabama.....when you could have easily mentioned the beautiful Dalraida neighborhood, located right outside of the Maxwell- Gunter back gate, I found that to be VERY missleading. When you steer people to Prattville, Alabama...to live ..please advise how overcrowded that city is..... please tell the people that Prattville, Alabama has a high rate of pedophiles in the city....one old man ( Mr. George)was just sentenced to 150 years for more than 70 charges of pedophilia,in Prattville, Alabama. That city is not safe for children. A school teacher, was recently arrested there for sexual assault of a minor. When you talk about Montgomery Public Schools, as you talk negatively....please add this caveat : But, the #1 ranked school in Alabama is in the City of Montgomery, Alabama ( LAMP School)....an MPS school. Tell the people that the #14 ranked school, in the Nation, is part of the Montgomery Public School system ( Booker T. Washington). If you want a lot of views....make a video of the 10 nicest neighborhoods in Montgomery, Alabama. You said that you bought a house in Montgomery, Alabama....flipped it & gained a significant return on the investment (double). That is wonderful...but , what part of that statement is supposed to hurt Montgomery, Alabama? Being able to flip a house for a 100% return on investment is EVERY investors desire. It shows that there is PLENTY of growth in Montgomery, Alabama.

I lived in Montgomery from 1989-1994, when the demographics were rapidly changing. Lived on the southeast side off Virginia Loop Road and Troy Highway. Our house got broken into 4 different times successfully, a few other unsuccessful attempts. Montgomery Mall had a shooting near the food court, downright scary. South Boulevard or the Southern Bypass, down to Troy Highway, is the worst area. The west side Fairview Avenue west of I-65 is also very rough. Taylor Road is where most of the middle and upper class live now. I can say that for the most part, I hated living there. The other retail shopping mall in town Eastdale Mall, is all but dead. I was delighted to leave, and that was 28 years ago.

    This can't be real.
I was going to leave a simple comment laughing at the fact that you claimed Montgomery is a place you can easily make a lot of money in. Then I saw that nice little comment that your significant other seems to have left for the people that dared to do something as crazy as ~taking offense to someone talking bad about their home~. So now let me offer the two of you a little bit of constructive criticism instead.
You two are what we call "content creators". That means you provide value to people through the content (videos) you create, and share with the public. Once you've uploaded a video, the most important thing you should be seeking is engagement, and retainment of viewers and commenters. Knowing this, it becomes obvious that you should remain neutral and facilitate further discussion in the comments. This gives you a higher chance of both fostering greater engagement, and potentially retaining a viewer/commenter. A good example is myself finding this video almost a year after it was uploaded and choosing to leave a comment, which could've been potentially followed up by subscribing to the channel. What you should NEVER do, is sit here and leave some paragraph that looks like it was written by a child, seeking to shame the exact audience you're wanting further engagement from. It's a waste of time, it hurts your growth potential, and it makes you seem childish and immature, which are two traits most people don't want to be associated with their brand. If you don't think people take notice of that kind of stuff, think again.
Furthermore, if you're going to try and shame people just because of where they were born, you probably shouldn't immediately follow that up with proudly claiming you're from Cuba, seeing as that is one of the few places on Earth that can make even a shithole like Montgomery look like a decent place to live.

There’s barely any activities, trash schools, horrid crime rates, etc…The only thing good i can say about my city is that the housing is very affordable, great food, and nice people (from my experience) other then that, I wouldn’t advise anyone young or with children to move here. Save your time and money, move elsewhere. I’m 19 years old, and every adult I’ve encountered in my life has told me to get out because Montgomery has NOTHING. Hell, even my own teachers. I was always the first one home in the afternoon after school and I would walk right in the door without a key. I still have family and friends there though fewer with time. If I have to visit then I’m ALWAYS packing heat. Montgomery is a total and complete shithole....Eastside and all. If you are Air Force getting transferred there then you need to find a way to get discharged from service. I promise you will not be putting your kids in Montgomery’s public school system. I was feeling nostalgic about my hometown (Montgomery) so decided to do a random search on RUclips and stumbled upon your video. It’s funny that depending on where you grew up in Montgomery, there can be a huge and stark difference in the quality of life. I mainly grew up in the 90s on the east side as an Asian woman and despite being a minority, I didn’t face much racism or any violence at all. I can’t say the same for my other fellow Asian friends who grew up in downtown/westside. Besides that, people from the gump are always dissing the gump, mainly because it’s a boring place with not much opportunity for growth and development. My parents are still there because they made great friends over the years and helped built the Buddhist temple several years back so they feel firmly rooted in this place. Your perspective on Montgomery is definitely valid and it saddens me that the city is getting worse and worse every year 😢

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS How long ago was that and what generation of life was this man in? Why wouldn’t he be able to openly talk about his culture? Koreans are usually proud people (known to have the most superiority complex amongst all Asians) so I really wonder about this. There was a huge influx of Koreans into Montgomery during the early to mid 2000s due to the opening of the Hyundai factory but I’m not too familiar with that community because I moved away around that time. Only thing I heard is that most of their children went to my high school Alma mater, which is a magnet school, and they’re all high achievers with decent self esteem due to academic achievement I imagine. I can’t imagine one of their parents being in fear to talk about how Korean they are lol. Going back to the disparity between east side Montgomery and the rest, I feel like there’s also a wide gap between school experiences. For example, most of the graduates from the magnet school I mention go on to ivy leagues colleges/promising careers while graduates from other high schools have a more varied outcome. My point is that there are always good and bad aspects about every city, but I guess the bad outweighs the good for the majority of Montgomerians. I will always think Montgomery sucks but I can’t deny that I have fond childhood memories from that sucky place. Anyway thanks for sharing your honest opinion

The area on Ann Street right off of I-85 is also very rough. You're Southern Bypass part is spot on. I went through part of there earlier today, and the homes are very run down, parking lots that were once grocery stores are desolate and deserted. One building was collapsed. I want to say that this guy is exactly right about Alabama's capital city. 30 years, we were at Montgomery Mall, and eating dinner at the food court and a shooting broke out, and it was very scary. The people I know who live there have had similar experiences. When I lived there, in addition to being broken into 4 times, successfully, several other times, unsuccessfully, We saw 4 or 5 police cars pull out right outside our kitchen window and watched, as we were eating supper. A drunk driver shined his head lights right into my brother's bedroom in the middle of the night. People were outside another time in the middle of the night, and were about to fight, and the police came and had to separate them. Kids from a nearby elementary school walked through our yard, turned on our water hose, and you see many gas stations with bars on the windows to keep burglars out. I know someone else who lived in the Dalraida hood and she said crime was very rampant. Some others we knew had to get guard dogs outside their house, because the same thing happened to them, their home was broken into, and several things were stolen. Except for the far east side, Montgomery should be avoided. It's sad how things have gotten, as Montgomery didn't use to be like how he's describing it. 20 years ago, I talked to someone else I knew there, and she said about Montgomery Mall, "you don't dare go there at night". All these other comments stating that Montgomery is not how he's describing it, are DEAD, TOTALLY WRONG.

Montgomery is a typical dem run city (mayor, police chief, fire chief, school superintendent, etc,) with near 70 % dem constituency based on typical voting patterns. Of the 80-plus murders in 2021, almost all, if not all, were black on black. The public school system (with the exception of a few magnet schools) is deplorable, as is the landscape shown in the videos. However, the old sociological term "white flight" has taken on a new, more inclusive identity which includes families of all races wanting to get the hell away from the pervasive insanity that plagues this town. However, SL's comment that people from Montgomery should be ashamed of being from a "racist place" is akin to someone suggesting that he should be ashamed of being from a communist country. Just because someone happens to be from a particular place is not indicative of that person's full agreement with the goings on in that region. Much like SL expressed pride for being raised in a wealthy part of the U.S, I express my pride of having lived in Montgomery for several years. It was, at one time, a safe place to call home. Moreover, I express even more gratitude for having made the decision to get the hell out!

My parents live here and for the life of me I couldn’t understand why they loved it here and why they had no desire to leave until I visited. To be fair, I have literally only seen their neighborhood and a few surrounding blocks, as well as the drive from here (a housing community called Wynlakes or something) to Wetumpka. Living so close to East Chase is actually kind of awesome. I definitely wouldn’t say that all of Montgomery is a shithole, at least not where they live.

there are beautiful day trips and events and culture and history easily accessed
It’s centrally located with easy access to other areas
It’s basically safe with some accident prone areas
I worked in the most dangerous part of town for 2 years and never felt ‘unsafe’, but there was ‘never a dull moment’ of near miss accidents

I worked in one of the areas that he talks about so it was on a daily basis and at times was the only one in the office and never had any problems. Montgomery Ala is not a bad place to live. The poster who posted this, Sorry to inform you but you have an opinion that is completely inaccurate. You see there are plenty educated individuals that live here in this city. I'm retired military and currently have a job here as well. Certainly, there is racism everywhere you go. Meaning our government can change all the laws they want but you can't change the way a person thinks. I live here and the depictions that you've shared in this video are absolutely not true. Living here for a year and not getting to know the people or engaging or going to city council meetings or education board meetings is not solving the problem(s), but only adding to them. So, before you come here and put a city on blast; live here a "While" longer and become a part of the solution. Because truthfully you are the problem. The problem that causes individuals to not want to come here and visit or move here. Because individuals like you talk down on the good citizens that make up this city. Sure, there are problems. But before you call out a particular demographic area, ask yourself; "If I move here what can I do to help better this place I'm considering calling home". If you can't ask yourself that question. You're only a part of the problem Sir!!!!!!!

It's evident that everyone has had different experiences. Now what you said about the schools were kinda true 😂 They were trying to bake us in classes cant lie 😂 But you've only been here for a year..maybe staying a little longer and ACTUALLY getting more accurate accusations. Some comments were biased and disrespectful but everything else was pretty accurate especially since the pricing for living is expensive

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS what the hell is it with you and talking about bed bugs?? Either you had bed bugs or you climbed in other people's beds that had bed bugs. To say Montgomery is full of bed bugs is a completely stupid, untrue, and immature comment! So since you have made multiple comments about Montgomery and bed bugs the questions become did you bring them with you or were you being trashy and bed jumping with some not so clean people??

I grew up on the South Blvd.. in the 80's till 2003... the neighborhood i grew up, i was one of the maybe 15 white kids in the "hood"... being there taught me everything i know about other people and how to treat each other... but anyone saying its not that bad... is wrong.. and EVERY neighborhood in Montgomery is the damn hood... doesn't have anything to with demographics or money..

West montgomery is not a neighborhood, the city lines are defined by the people here, Millbrook is one of the most racist places in alabama, perry hill is not dangerous at all, but other than that, you're right

I love Montgomery. I think it’s great place! You just need to have a college degree so you can work in the nice parts. If you don’t talk to anyone nobody bothers you. Now I wouldn’t go walking down Ann street but still I’ve enjoyed the city especially the Shakespeare park and old cloverdale there are a lot of little hidden gems in Montgomery. It’s not for everyone but it’s my home and I love it. There is a lot to not like but I’m biased since I’m from central Alabama. The river is gorgeous at sunset as well.

Yes Montgomery's murder rate is very high, especially in 2020 and 2021. The city saw a record breaking 77 homicides in 2021, and 68 the previous year. Most cities saw steep increases in Murder rates in 2020 and another increase in 2021. Montgomery didn't have a dangerous murder rate before 2020. Montgomery hasn't always been like this, it's only gotten this way after 2020. If you haven't lived in Montgomery all your life you really don't know how Montgomery was before 2019. People were saying Montgomery was dangerous when Montgomery before 2020, when it was not even that dangerous. The number if people killed skyrocketed more than 60% in 2020, or 26 more cases in 2020, than in 2019, and 30 cases up from 2018.

If yall were not so racist latinos would have bought all those empty houses and fixed them up but now your city looks like a dump. Thats the reward for getting rid of the latinos who were 10% of the population but 35% of the labor force

The murder rate is high cause the racist president is high. Lets talk about the president in the Whitehouse who has failed asleep while talking on T.V
