Thank you very much, sifu jason for responding to this suggestion ... a wonderful man who always provide help & advice with all his best... I appreciate that... With all Respect
Bee Gees - you can tell by the way I walk I’m a woman’s man. Bag music for Sifu Jason gets him pumped on a Friday night. The Eagles- welcome to the hotel California. Cypress Hill - hits from the bong😀
this made me laugh a lot.. Defintely after stopping training for a while I thought win chun doesnt need any endurance so Ill be able to not train more but man did I feel slow and miscalculated. Working on my endurance to get the right forms and techniques, feeling way more confident after watching this and hearing you explain the workout!
Ha! Amen to that. Hitting and moving is far harder than it looks. The good news is that it’s the core of good self-defense skills, so keep it up and pace yourself. Go slow and smooth until its coming naturally.
You are " da man" sifu jason, fantastic drills from a humble master, instructors, "take note" you are a very kind and giving teacher, I have said this many times and I won't get tired saying it, please, stay safe, stay healthy, stay blessed, GOD BLESS you sifu jason
Hey, Sifu Jason: I am a Californian who once, many years ago, spent some time in Greenville. I really enjoy your videos. I have had some Wing Chun experience, and, during the COVID lockdown, decided to teach myself. I have a heavy bag, but not a wooden dummy, to practice on. As your video suggested, I have found that working with the bag just naturally leads to a more mobile, realistic Wing Chun. This may sound weird, but I have watched the fight scene from the movie Sherlock Holmes several times and it seems to me that this depicts more accurately than a lot of Wing Chun videos what a real fight with Wing Chun would look like (Robert Downey Jr., who plays Holmes, is a long time Wing Chun student.) Anyhow, I hope to get to Greenville someday and to drop by the academy. If you ever happen to be in Northern California, let me know. Five star dinner on me. (BTW: I am guessing that you are a classical rock guy. Do I get the teachable course?)
S-Club 7 "don't stop never give up" played on loop...definitely agree about the must win in 3 seconds should not be a limitation..it would be perfect to achieve but lifes not perfect...ie a wing chun master asks another wing chun master "hay ya trained ya whole life why did ya lose?" He replied "he moved his head out of the way and moved around for 4 seconds...wasn't expecting that to happen"🤪
Great video! I teach Wing Chun as well, but I also have a Boxing background. I like to put in things like slips, ducks, and pivots to the Wing Chun. I really believe that Wing Chun and Boxing are two parts of a whole. Too many Wing Chun guys are immobile and can't flow well. As far as music I think you listen to, I'm going to guess you like progressive classic rock like Rush, Deep Purple, and Yes. Am I right?
I’ve been studying Wing Chung for about a year. Would you recommend studying both boxing and wing Chung at same time? Or leaving Wing Chun and focusing on boxing exclusively and coming back to kung fu
@@investlikeawarrior I think it's a good idea to do them at the same time. They complement each other. Boxing has better footwork, head movement, and more powerful punches. Wing Chun has close range tactics, dirty strikes, and sensitivity contact reflex training. To me, they are two parts of a whole.
also Greenville Academy of Martial Arts wing chun is good and effective for self defense and fighting like jkd or is jkd the real deal because it can do many things that wing chun can not
The elbows are the driving force behind the wing chun punch and has more connection to the core, plus the elbow positions are still down leaving the body less exposed to takedowns. I'd recommend checking out a bare knuckle boxing champion from the 70's by the name of Paddy Monaghan (114-0-0)...he was a good friend of Mohamed Ali. He used the Wing Chun punch in his fights taught by his good friend Samuel Kwok. I personally don't like fast out of control chain punches, they turn out to be more like rabbit punches. You can chain punch and make eat shot count still without going all in, but that's my personal opinion
Lol had a friend I taught some basic WC to. He loved it but his ego was blown way outta control because he used it successfully on somebody at work one day. He didn’t want to train conditioning at all? He really thought 💭 he could take anyone out in a few seconds. Well I put the boxing gloves on and said “ ok just just defend yourself for 2 minutes “...he barely made it out the round, he was gassed and embarrassed. And I touched him quite a bit 🤕😑🤭😰He only train when I was around. I Gave him training instructions, but he really thought he was above training his tools and conditioning drills. Of course that was the beginning of the end working out with me.
Greenville Academy of Martial Arts i have chosen sanda and jkd because sanda is the best chinese military martial art and jkd is both style and philosophy and both are good better and more effective for self defense and fighting than shaolin and wing chun
What u could say is more effective in real fight conditions (practical?), kickboxing or WT? In WT is better to have a more modern stance as in boxing? Can you make a vid about fighting a boxer or a kick boxer, or both and bout jujitsu grappling legs plz?
This is just a JKD Drill, not Wing Chun. In Wing Chun there are Principles and this drill ignores the Wing Chun Principles. You just don't move 'in and out' in Wing Chun. You just move in and finish it.
I feel these guys are really bringing Wing Chun into the modern era.
Sifu Jason’s workout music is Journey

Great trading drill sifu, and you are very eclectic in your martial art talents, I will say Steely Dan is your genre.
It's nice to see Wing Chun applied more realistically.

Sifu Jason's worpout music is jimmy Hendrix & led zepplin

Is there enough content to talk about the best way to practice Wing Chun with a speed bag or is it pretty straight forward with doing chain punching
Great video, Sir. And my guess is you listen to Air Supply
Sifu Jason workout music...got to be James Brown!

Incubus is what Sifu Jason listens to. A Certain Shade of Green while doing bag drills. Do I get the free course?
ha. Not Incubus. I'm a classic rock guy!
@@JKDandWingChun aha dated yourself! Great vids btw
also
Greenville Academy of Martial Arts wing chun is good and effective for self defense and fighting like jkd or is jkd the real deal because it can do many things that wing chun can not
What's the advantage of those Wing Chun centre line punches over the boxing style straight punches which seem to generate more force ??
The elbows are the driving force behind the wing chun punch and has more connection to the core, plus the elbow positions are still down leaving the body less exposed to takedowns.

Listen To Some Slayer... Great Attack Music...
Classical music
Yes jason we want to know lol
I'd guess Sifu listens to combat classic "girls just wanna have fun"
Teacher I’m curious how your getting paid during the lockdown? 👋👍✔️✌️☝️🙏
Sifu Jason moves like he is listening to Creedence Clearwater Revival, which is a good thing! I think.....
I can see this guy rocking it to some k pop
Your music "Head-banger or Heavy-Metal. How about some Elbow and knee moves, as rarely practiced while sparring ?
Five finger death punch?
I'm guessing you listen to Hard Rock.... thanks for sharing!
Can you do a video on the top 3 kicks you should know?
Sifu Jason you listen to country music.
You love Journey! But your workout tunes are 80s music in general!!
Metálica?

He probably listens to Bach, Beethoven, and opera :)
And maybe some Modern Christian music.

Eye of the tiger that's my best guess
I think you like rock music
Survivor - Eye of the Tiger. Metallica - Enter Sandman (or, Sad but True)
Minnie Ripperton, Lovin You? 🎸🤔

Im thinking music like Bonjovi
I'm guessing Neil Diamond
31
im guessing he listens to salsa music or anything along the lines of Latin music xD
the offspring
I have a different drills based on Wing Chun that I do at the heavy bag.
This is just a JKD Drill, not Wing Chun. In Wing Chun there are Principles and this drill ignores the Wing Chun Principles. You just don't move 'in and out' in Wing Chun. You just move in and finish it.
Mike tyson does that with head bobs
Michael Jackson!
I have gas problems too my opponent is always moving far away from me and refuses to come close
I would guess 80s metal. Def Leopard perhaps :)
Jazz......you listen to Jazz. Or Iron Maiden
“Hook punches and overhand punches aren’t scientific” thats the most ego defending, petty thing ive heard this month
Thrash metal
