The Kursenieki are also known as Curonians.
The Curonians or Kurs (Curonian: Kursi; German: Kuren; Latvian: kurši; Lithuanian: kuršiai; Estonian: kuralased; Polish: Kurowie) were a Baltic[1] tribe living on the shores of the Baltic Sea in what are now the western parts of Latvia and Lithuania from the 5th to the 16th centuries, when they merged with other Baltic tribes. They gave their name to the region of Courland (Kurzeme), and they spoke the Old Curonian language. Curonian lands were conquered by the Livonian Order in 1266 and they eventually merged with other Baltic tribes participating in the ethnogenesis of Lithuanians and Latvians. Direct descendants of the Curonians include the Kuršininkai of the Curonian Spit and the so-called Curonian Kings of Courland.

Kurši - Curonians
Or better known as Baltic Vikings - Even Danish Vikings where afraid of em (at least what can be found in some historical information). Curonians still exist in our days in Latvia - they live in west side of Latvia country and locals know them more as imba pitty people and these who don't welcome any strangers or enemys :)
Actually All Nordic was Terrified! Vikings started not from Sweden 🇸🇪, but From Baltics! We all have Curonian blood! 🇱🇹 ♥️ 🇱🇻 Mes esma Mazzi, bet turamies! Lithuania always with you Brothers N Sisters!

Anybody know how old these guys are? I turn 50 in about 7 months, and these guys look like they're my age. I'm picturing these guys growing up under Soviet oppression, and rocking underground, and now they can finally cut loose and show the world what they've got. And what they got is epic.

Oops, sorry! It's the beards :) They make you look a bit older. My dad could grow a beard, but here I am, 50 years old, and still can't grow a beard. Granted, given that I cook for a living, long beards are frowned on. But when I get a couple weeks off for vacation, and don't shave for the whole two weeks ... it just looks like I forgot to shave for a couple days.
In any case, age doesn't matter when it comes to METAL! And you guys are true metal. I especially enjoy your song, "Migla migla, Rasa rasa". Many years ago, David Lee Roth, the singer for Van Halen, said, "Heavy metal is just high-speed folk music." I am a student of many different kinds of music, and I love how Skyforger has incorporated folk into metal.
Finding your music also inspired me to actually look up Latvia and learn about your country. When I was a young metalhead, I wasn't interested in history and geography. But once I got into my 40s, I took an interest in history (particularly European history, since my ancestry is European). Most of my reading these past few years has been histories. I was 25 years old when the Soviet Union broke up (1991), and my American schooling didn't really tell me much about the smaller countries that had been swallowed up by the Soviets. So, when I saw that you were from Latvia, I took time to read about your country and its history.
You have a beautiful country, and I would love to visit it some day.
For instance, the main singer is born on June 24, 1973.

Meaning viking is not nation, but occupation :D, therefore Curonians was vikings too. Scandivanians just want that title applied only to them , while is not historically correct.
@@shrekas2966 Curonians were definitely Vikings. Their main occupation was piracy (viking = pirate) in the baltic sea. Even if you read wiki article on Curonians "The Curonians were known as fierce warriors, excellent sailors and pirates. They were involved in several wars and alliances with Swedish, Danish and Icelandic Vikings."
They fought with and against other vikings in many battles. They even pillaged Sweden's main city Sigtuna. Very rich tribe, and you can still visit their old settlements in Latvia.

I used to listen to Skyforger a lot a few years ago when my band was signed under the same label as them. We were both signed under Folter Rec.
Man kā kurzemniekam jāsaka, ka pat nav kauns par šādu skaņdarbu. Vienīgi vajadzētu šo sen ierakstīto dziesmu ierakstīt pa jaunu normālā kvalitātē. Iztīrīt laukā to "balto troksni", kur visi instrumenti/vokāls skan viens otram pa virsu, kā no brīvdabas koncerta.

+christofer silvestro well half june, whole july and some august weeks are red hot, and you need a dip in the sea to remain at beach for long time)) august and start of september is still warm, but more popular to swim in lakes as sea begins to cool off. Still much warmer than for instance UK summer. If going to Europe, pop in you wouldn't regreat - nature, great food peace and quiet

Why is it bad, in what sense? It looks like one of the best metal videos out there. Absolutely stunning nature. Although it still has unnecessary stuff like guitars.
I think you guys misinterpreted what I was saying. I love the video, when I say ‘bad’ I don’t mean crap, I mean cheesy, which in general is seen as ‘bad’ it’s hard to explain…but in essence I love the video and the band, and no offense was meant, it was a compliment 🤘🏿
@@matthewburdett55 I mean it's not especially cheesy. Cheesy in a so bad it's good style would be something like Immortal - Blashyrkh. Remove the musical instruments here and it will be not cheesy at all. See Negura Bunget - Vazduh for comparison.

Correct transation to Kurshi would be "Curonians". It was a Baltic tribe living in western parts of Latvia and Lithuania. They were warriors, excellent sailors and pirates. More information in Wikipedia.
