to me it is way too g6-like, same with the axolorl and bulldog. like if you're going g2 you HAVE to go g2, new designers either don't want or don't get what made g1-g2 molds so appealing. where is the fur. where ate the necks. make them look just a tiny bit realistic proportion-wise, i really don't like this kind of"cute" if you know what i mean. old molds had personality and charm, these don't
i think the axolotl looked kinda like g2. i agree with the others though.

To be honest yeah, they brought back g2 molds and the g2 molds look like G6. I think it’s the bright colors and just cartoony look, I still like them tho:]
I think it's very G6 vibes? I had no idea of this other sloth but i'm absolutely foaming at the mouth for more of this pink sloth mold. It's actually so gentle and precious. Not a bigggg fan of the downturned eyes on the new one ;w;

In my opinion, the nose/muzzle makes it look a lot more ape like, the colors are definitely off too, I hope they make some slight changes because it definitely would be a lot cuter🥰
don't get me wrong, I like the goofy little farm animals/safari animals/jungle animals, but I kind of agree with a comment I saw (I don't remember where)
like "it is littlest PET shop, and I kinda wish they'd recreate more dog/cat molds" as well as other commonly kept pets :') but we're still in early days so I'm fairly hopeful that we'll see those big 5 lps at some point lol as well as other dogs/cats of course!

Yeah this is a good point. I do like that they are focusing on uncommon molds but I do want more dogs and cats. Especially the main five.
i miss how realistically the st. bernards were in G1, i really want not only the mold but also the realistic feel of the colors of the pets

Ok I think the G6 sloths we got were definitely waaaaay cuter, but I feel like this new design feels more like a G2 pet. Either way, very curious to see how it’ll look in real life

I think it’s cute! Though I’d love to see more of the main 5, I like how they’re creating new LPS and I’m just grateful that we got LPS back after begging for so many years.
The only critique I have about the sloth is the mouth. I feel like the mouth is the part that throws it off because it does look like an ape a little bit. But I still think it’s hecka cute!
I actually like the mold a lot, like sure it would look great if it had more fur like the magazine pet but i still like it and it still looks enough like a sloth to me. The colors.. yeah they're not it but that's fine. I'm honestly okay with waiting for them to make a sloth with better colors if i ever want to add one to my collection, or i could even customize to give it more natural fur patterns. I'm just glad we're getting new molds even if they can't quite get the g2 style to look perfect

I dont like how his legs are shaped, also the smoothness, also I dont like how they're trying to add expression to the pets, then being expressionless was part of the charm

Agreed 100%! probably why she thought it looked like an ape/monkey, at least in my opinion that’s what makes it look less like a sloth.

I think this mold is okay. It should most importantly keep the old style and not look like another generation ;/ I'm waiting for new wolfs since they made the grey one (with the fish and sushi) 😁 I would use it in my videos the whole time 🌝
I personally think the sloth is cute and I’d be excited to see it as a new mold. I think new molds are always exciting and they keep things fresh. I like the sloth.
I personally really like the sloth, especially the mold itself! The only thing I don't like is that I also thought it was some sort of orangutan at first. I even like the colors, I just don't think they help in making the sloth look sloth-y, lol.
The sad thing is why aren't they bringing back the actual old molds like we don't see that much of the original molds yet but like the old style new versions are coming out but like can't they bring out more of the molds of the old LPs like we need more 👑💓

It looks very just okay to me, it definitely feels more stylistically like g5. I do like the fact that it has more of an actual pose than the other two new molds, especially the french bulldog, do. That feels like an improvement to me. Basic fun definitely doesn't have the g2 style down in terms of molds yet (which is very understandable) so I'm personally more interested in what they do with preexisting molds from g2 since it's more likely to be something I like.
Something about the mold feels very g6-like. I'm not really a fan of it. A g2 sloth would be sosooo cute but I feel like they went at it the wrong way??? Either way I won't complain. I'm grateful everything Basic Fun is doing for us! Remember, they didn't HAVE to bring old lps back, but they still did.❤
why are you complaining about the colours when THE purple kiwi exists
it isnt actually that bad, like the muzzle and nose could use some work but overall its pretty cute, id buy it

Aside from the choice of colors, I think the muzzle is what breaks its cuteness factor. By comparison, the magazine release of the sloth has an adorable muzzle that I think would've saved the unreleased Sloth's design.

I actually love the g6 sloth so I hope they go with that one or make a better one. The muzzle needs to changed like g6 one and I personally don't the sleepy eye but I see it makes sense for a sloth

I'm not really interested in all the different animals, I want more cats and dogs and bunnies and geckos. But I don't think the sloth looks that bad, compared to the catastrophe that was g4, with it's really skinny and sharp shapes and wackyness.
I don't understand the hype with 'main 5 pets', my favorite molds have always been more uncommon ones, chinchillas, deer, lambs, pelicans, angoras and sharks. I'm really excited for new animal molds to come, i think we need more variety then just the same 5 cats and dogs over and over, we already have tons of them.
lps always was about variety/diversity, but then the community created themselves a holy shrine for these 5 molds because of a toy fan series. i swear when I collected lps a long time ago i didn't knew or care about big 5 enough and was so happy to have a panda, a dalmatian, a persian and a hamster

i wish they would just stick to the original molds of g2. and i wish they made more popular molds that people like. like for example main 5 pets and more cats and dogs since people like those

I think I’ve got it, at least partially.
The new bulldog and sloth’s foreheads are too big. G2 rarely ever did foreheads like that, with exceptions like the donkey.
In g2 the lps eyes tend to be around the middle of the face, just a little bit below, and their heads are more oval shaped than circular. That is to say, their heads are wider than they’re tall.
Other generations have more circular heads with lower eyes, and that’s why these new pets don’t feel like g2
Also g2 LPS tend to be more… detailed? With fur and scales and stuff, y’know? The new bulldog has no textured fur on its mold, OR the iconic bulldog wrinkles. It kinda just looks like a cuter Great Dane to me.
Personally, I think it’s debatable whether this is all a bad thing. This most recent generation of lps is NOT g2, it’s g7. Yes g7 is emulating the style of g2 in a a LOT of ways, but it’s still technically its own thing.
Personally I really like the new sloth (those colours are GORGEOUS) and the bulldog is cute too, but I understand why people are upset considering this was hyped up as the “return of g2”. I do hope the new molds feel more like g2 over time, but for now, I’m not super mad about them
tbh I feel like the sloth (at least this leaked version) has too much of a big forehead for me to the point it doesn't feel as sloth-like (which have a more flatter/wide head-shape irl). If it had a shape closer to that G6 magazine pet I think it'd work a lot better. But I guess this is a wait-and-see since it's just a 3D render.
+ since other people are talking about it, I'm ok with getting a lot of non-big 5 pets in the beginning & I'm pretty sure they'll eventually get released due to how popular they are. But I have a feeling them dropping will be a monkey's paw situation due to how crazy scalping's gotten without them, let alone pets from molds that are heavily price gouged in the collectors market as is. So I wonder if not releasing them is a way of soft-negating hoarding and scalping issues that will come when they're dropped.
(seriously, i'm calling it as soon as a G7 collie / shorthair / dane / dauchund / spaniel gets released we're gonna see them listings up to $1k for them on ebay 😭)

I actually think the thing that’s throwing it off if it is a sloth is the fact that the nose isn’t a different colour to the rest of the face like on a sloths face

The sloth’s body is very good, I would accept it as a sloth. The head though, it does look more like an ape or monkey than a sloth.

Yall, they didn't have a G2 reference to go off of. Yeah the design could be better but frankly the mold is fine.

To me, this just looks like a digital mockup for prototyping and marketing, not an official or finalized concept. Think about the g3 MH prototype mockups, they were FAR from official. So the actual pet will likely look different.

I'm a little disappointed with how the sloth looks :( It's cute, but it doesn't fit with the style of G2. The new G7 sculpts are very smooth, leaving a lot of blank surface area- and noticeably more with the lack of sculpted details. I think the head sculpt would've worked much better had it been a variation of the chimpanzee mold (wider and flatter head + raised muzzle)

I think the new ones alright but i agree that the colours are not it, i also really hope they change how the nose and mouth looks in the final version because in my opinion its just ugly lol

I’m just disappointed tbh they are barely making any cats and dogs and the accessories are useless like what am i supposed to do with 5 buckets and 6 binoculars 😢 i definitely hope they stick with the older g2 molds in the future…

i want pets not exotic animals. like an axolotl makes sense because you can have a pet axo. but a sloth D: or the rhino or whatever. give me guinea pigs and more hamsters and dog breeds. how many diff dogs or cats can they make.. even in the next blind box set theres only 1 remold and everyone else is new. we need dachshunds and guinea pigs

I don't think lps was ever meant to "look realistic", the older generations had more pets with natural colours but even then they would stray from that, some of the more beloved pets are bright unnatural colours. The new gen has plenty of naturally coloured pets, they just have *more* unnatural ones then gen 2 did.

Not every single pet model is going to be a cute fluffy kitty nor are they gonna only release popular molds. Even gen 2 had straight up ugly or undesirable models even for dogs and cats
Wow, magazine LPS? When were they released? Maybe they'll do more in the future, an exciting thought. That pink sloth is adorable, I love moulds with layers and extra details!!! Honestly, I say bring on the sloth, not a popular opinion I hear, but I'm just really appreciative of the fact that Basic Fun are stretching out to more exotic animals :). Unpopular opinion. Both are ugly. I do like the giraffe that comes with the sloth tho. I really hope we get some fantasy molds soon

Hot take incoming I guess. People have been asking for new, better pets but now that we finally have them all they want are the older pets and older molds back. I think it's interesting, and fun, that we're getting more "obscure" and "niche" animals. People forget that not everyone owns cats or dogs. I enjoy seeing reptiles, bugs, and the like. I love cats and dogs as much as the next person but it'd get boring real quick if that's the only kind of merchandise they made. I guess all I really have left to say is? People should learn to be patient. They'll make your favorites eventually. It's not the end of the world. 😭😭😭😭
