Good morning, Joshua. There is a German language video of it and there are specifications on the R18 forums if you can google for it BUT I do have the valve specs in hand and the instructions for how to do it. I’m just under 6,000 miles right now so it’s going to be a while since I’m about to go and get shoulder surgery done but I will post a video as soon as I get around to doing them. Thanks for your patience.
@@AdamChandler86 thanks man! I’ll keep looking around, just had it done at my 6000 service and after paying 900$ for that service I felt it’s time to start learning. Best of luck with the surgery!
It’s possible that the oil is just a little low. I would add starting with about 200ML and wait a few minutes and see if you can see any in the sight glass. Then just keep adding until you see some. It takes some time for the oil to flow down to the bottom of the reservoir so be careful not to add too much. Just to be safe, check underneath and make sure there isn’t a leak.
Valves are checked every 6,000 miles the same as oil change. This video is only focusing on the oil change how to. I'll do one for valves in the next few months.
SAE 15W-50 API JASO MA2 There aren't any car 15w/50 that are JSAO MA2 specification. That's the issue your'e going to have. I'd recommend BMW brand, Liqui-Moly or Motul. They all make a 15w50 synthetic that meets that MA2 spec.
@@AdamChandler86 I have a K1 which has been run on car oil for 50,000 miles and it ok-------I was of the impression as long as it had a dry clutch and separate gear box the engine is then the same as a car.
@@E39M5SPEED ouch! My DCT Tour Wing calls for oil changes every 8k and oil filters every 16k. Valve adj every 24k. I've heard BMW dealer maintenance was very costly but damn!
Another excellent video for the owners of the R-18, thank you, Adam.
Glad you enjoyed it
just perfect, thank you!
Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the info! Hard to find this kind of information on the new R18s. Any chance you’ll be doing one on valve adjustments?

Adam, great videos & info! Do you know if there's a service manual available for the R18? Thanks, Tom
There is not a service manual. BMW won’t publish it anymore for newer bikes. These specs ARE from the official service manual. I just can’t share it.
Great video. Right to the point. 👍👍👍
I'm glad it was helpful.
Superb video Adam, loved it.
Thanks Beans!
@@AdamChandler86 its great info as hopefully my Bagger arrives just before Christmas. Nice black one too.
Thank you for the video.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Adam
Glad it was helpful.
whats the electric on the head ? , would it drain more if level ?
That’s a sensor or spark plug.
How u reset service light?
You'll need a GS-911 hardware kit to do that or take it to a dealer and they can do it for a fee.
How about resetting the oil change reminder?? Thanks
I made a video but you’re going to need a pricey dongle to do it -

Thanks Adam your videos have been helpful. I bought a 2023 R18B Hope your surgery went well
This is the 6,000 mile service? I'm going to assume that the valve check is not necessary at 6k? Thanks for content!
It actually is but I didn’t do that in this video. I had rotator cuff surgery so I had the dealer do the valve check at 6K.
@@AdamChandler86 I was quoted $1k to do the 6k maintenance...
Nice n simple..very cool..definately will ck one out..😊
Ok so I bought this used R18 TC with 6000 km. And when I put the bike center, can't see a thing in the sight glass....

They said you supposed to check valve clearance?

You should be able to use a 15/50 car oil ?

It’s your bike. You can run what you’d like. I was just quoting what the manual calls for.
thanks, but none of the part #'s you posted at the end of the video match up to anything on BMW Motorad.
That’s super weird. They didn’t change and I just google search them and it comes up. I’m sorry.
Lol. Dealer wanted $500 for this. Bmw of Las Vegas.
Phew. That’s pricey for an oil change.
Probably included the valve adjustment, diff oil change, and whatever else is included in the laundry list of service BMW recommends.
@@markman7 no for that they wanted $1900
