      In this case, it's all-aluminum, so rifles may pass through some bulkheads. At least the other class has steel hulls, but aluminum superstructure.

      BigWater59 none of the worlds navy's have seen combat. The US navy has definitely seen the most of "combat" if you call it that between the ANTI-pirate missions and the little skirmishes with Iranian speed boats.

      Better than the rest of the worlds Navies! When I was in, we trained constantly, put to sea constantly before even going on our 6 month deployment. And if you don’t think we were out there mixing it up with pirates, or hostile nations, well, let’s just say we knew how to get the job done.

    What is up with the blue shotguns, and rifles? I thought the Navy did away with small arms training. Do littoral combat ships train more small arms? Is it also for ground or just aboard ship?

    • @brentparks2292
      @brentparks2292 4 года назад

      Probably master at arms? Could be training for raiding other ships, Pirates, drug smugglers and such. And no, the US Navy keeps all ships stocked with small arms. Watch videos where they do small arms training, such as firing off the fantail with .50 down to M1A, looks like fun times.

    • @jimmellenberger8505
      @jimmellenberger8505 4 года назад +3

      That's called the Ship's Security Alert Team and Backup Alert force. It's practice to repel intruders or boarders at sea.
      The dummy rifles reduce wear and tear on the real weapons, especially since extra crew to maintain the weapons regularly from handling aren't available. They can also practice maneuvers, simulate boarding another ship for search and seizure.
      Lots of reasons for them, especially a small crew, to practice procedures when they can.

      BS, they are building 20 of each hull design, have around ten of each now. The problem was the Navy had to use them as frigates because we have none. So they are now building 20 FFGX to fill that role and these will go back to fulfill their original missions, shallow water, drug interdiction, pirate, protect littoral waters. And trust me, the Navy will have them ready to rock’n’roll. Best thing is if needed, they can perform blue water missions, and can act as a corvette if needed.

      RobTzu 1 they have some pretty good updated modules rolling out now

    • @RobTzu
      @RobTzu 6 лет назад

      I liked the concept - other navies use modules on their corvettes, but we some how are way over budget and way behind schedule. I am not a rabid anti LCS guy, but what we are buying is not what was being sold.

    • @Mike-gz4xn
      @Mike-gz4xn 6 лет назад +1

      RobTzu 1 yes they are over budget and behind schedule. I do like what I see with the new equipment coming online however. It seems the Navy in general is over budget and behind on just about every project they have, from the new Ford class aircraft carriers, LPDs, Zumwalt, etc. LCS is no different.

    • @00calvinlee00
      @00calvinlee00 6 лет назад

      RobTzu 1 And they cannot even defend themselves. They need DDGs and CGs to survive.

    • @Mike-gz4xn
      @Mike-gz4xn 6 лет назад +2

      Calvin Lee it has a better hard kill (RAM) and the same soft kill as DDGs and CGs. It does not have an anti air module, so that it would need a DDG or CCG for. A DDG however is not capable of mine warfare, and would need an LCS for that.. you see every ship plays a roll. Also, this is a corvette/frigate, not a DDG or CG, and should not be compared to one. Again different roles.

    Giffords was on the House Armed Services Committee. That, with being the victim of a brutal assault connected with her service as a Member of Congress, is enough reason to name a ship after her. People who don’t like it should try to think of something more important to complain about.

      @AdamosDad 6 лет назад +4

      John Johnson, Please don't feel bad for them. Richard Nixon came out into 7th Fleet when I was a young sailor because of my security clearances, the Secret Service picked me to be one of the presidents guards. I was a liberal democrat of the times but felt no animosity toward him I was protecting the president not Richard Nixon, if you've never been in the military you won't understand the difference. It is the office we follow not the man, however in the case of Donald J Trump I'm sure that the men and women of the services breathed a great sigh of relief after his election because Republicans traditionally better support our military in practical ways such as pay and better support of military life.

      AdamosDad do you support gun laws that would keep mentally ill people from getting access to guns?

    • @AdamosDad
      @AdamosDad 6 лет назад +2

      Micheal Taylor, those laws already exist. You are not able to buy a firearm if you are adjudicated as mentally ill or mentally deficient. If you had ever purchased a firearm you would know that, the problem comes from the fact that many agency's simply do not report mental cases to The National Instant Criminal Background Check System, also known as NICS, is intended to identify people prohibited under federal law from acquiring firearms. Records of people who are seriously mentally ill or have been convicted of crimes aren't ending up on the background checks list.

    • @michealtaylor4078
      @michealtaylor4078 6 лет назад

      AdamosDad I have purchased a firearm and I do know about the national registry. My question was if you support it. Your answer indicates to me that you also a gun grabber like you say Gabrielle Gifford is because that is what she was campaigning for a tighter enforcement of the national mental illness registery.

    Just one of the wonderful things that the previous administration did for the Navy. Aside from spit-canning senior leadership in DC who werent kissing his "ring".
    They saddled this USN vessel with that name. Im sure there'll be a few who serve and have no problem with the name, as they probably fall amongst that ilk.
    Its those who dont follow her or the previous administration, who want to be sick and eyes roll back in their heads when they see the message saying they have orders to that vessel. They will serve and obey with a cheery Aye Aye, but every time they rack out, the thought will haunt them of the name of what theyre on.
