Building Resilience: Forest Genetic Resources for Forest Landscape Restoration

Biodiversity is considered key to ensuring forest landscape restoration targets are met globally - but how do we ensure these projects have the diverse genetic resources they need to do so? To discuss, we were joined by Somidh Saha (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)) and Santiago Gonzalez Martinez (INRAE) at IUFRO World Congress in Sweden. We examine the challenges in getting access to forest genetic resources in different regions as well as how to achieve the levels of resources needed for projects like 20x20 in Latin America and AFR100 in Africa.
