No hell no, at the time when this movie came out and till this day Leo’s acting was horrible and his accent was so forced and not on point! Don’t get me wrong Leo is an amazing actor and has other good films but this film wasn’t it!!!!
For all its flaws, this movie is easily in my top-5 movies. Don't know why, but I'm constantly drawn back to it. The story, the duality of the search for physical (Archer) and emotional prosperity (Vandy), the acting, the scenery.. it gives me a warm feelings every time I watch it.
Sadly, I don't think people would stop buying diamonds "if they knew." They already know. It's different if you see it in person, feel it's effects or even second hand feel it's effect. But on another continent?
I made a promise to myself to never buy them after seeing this movie. I saw a protest poster in my local shopping mall saying the mall would not support jewellers who sell blood diamonds. That's what led me to watch this movie and I learned what they meant. The movie was shocking, tragic and it left me outraged. I suppose that's what the director intended. I have no diamond jewelry and am glad. I couldn't sleep at night with a diamond necklace, wondering if a child was slaughtered for it. This is one of the most important fictional films I have ever seen because it is based on real events and people like Solomon are VERY real...
@@largol33t1I saw this a WHILE ago too, it really is a shame. I learned about LAB-MADE diamonds and would get that if I ever do shop around. It's not CZ, it's genuine diamond. A nice cruelty free alternative
@@largol33t1 What is never reported is how well the world came together to stop the atrocities in Sierra Leone. The UN backed by the British Army were massively successful in destroying the RUF and bringing back peace. They made sure ex-fighters were educated and could reintegrate back in society. The RUF no longer exists so miners are no longer abused, but conditions are still pretty poor. Sierra Leone and Africa's biggest problems still remains the ease for leaders to act on their instincts of greed.

The tone of Leo absolutely made me like his character. The way he used to use huh.. in every sentence. But Djimou gave us the best acting especially his rage when he killed the captain. That scene is one of my favs.
What’s insane is when I hear ppl in America say their oppressed, starving, & say they are where they are bc of their environment it makes me sick. This is real. This happens now and I was born a slave. When we were sent into a room in the “hood,” we swore we were rich. If anyone from these areas had 1 opportunity in the Us- they’d be happy to have it just as we. I swept floors for tips in salons & we walked 2.6 miles each way to school & work. Starving is when a village fights for 1 piece of food.
Leo absolutely obliterated this role. This movie, along with Catch Me If You Can, Gangs of NY, Aviator, and The Departed cemented him as my favorite actor when I was a kid.
What a movie! Yet another DeCaprio masterwork that he got slighted for. How many Oscar worthy performances has this guy had now that he got snubbed for??
If anybody didn't watch this I highly recommend not to miss it. It's one of the few greatest movies of a life time.
The son's restoration scene , how his father talked, that was the most powerful moment of this movie.
leo should have won an oscar for this movie
Absolutely agree. You could say that about a lot of his movies 😞
Ong ! I seen this movie a really long time ago as a kid and I thought Leo was such a good actor man
Djimon as well
@@michiel1162he carried for damn sure

I remember watching this movie, shit was just so crazy but eye opening
I used to watch this movie from the beginning and the middle but not the end now I know what happened in the end
This was such a powerful movie
Oh my god Blood Diamond, I loved this movie when I saw it

Hmm is this where the "I'm from Rhodesia" clip was taken from?
1:18 correction, Danny is not South Africa he’s rhodesian( now known as Zimbabwe)
Leo and his friend? Does he not have a name like Leo🤔
In the film they aren’t even friends.
1:17 he’s from Rhodesia
What a great movie
I realized that he called him Leo instead of his character name
I thought Danny said he was born in Rhodesia not South Africa?
He did. Bunch of mistakes here.
I think we call it Zimbabwe now 😅
Great 😊
Danny is Rhodesian.
How ironic. Rappers love diamonds.
Leo nardo di fucking caprio
The goat
We "civilized" folk don't care who dies. As long as we can have our shiny rocks 🙂
Rhodesian, not south african.
África is hell, thats how México is becoming.
Lol.
I have it pretty good, don't know what part of Africa you talking about Jose.
Africa is a whole continent. Are you speaking of a specific country, Jose?
@NikkiRen I was about to say naming him "Jose" is racist, but then I looked at his name lol
@@NikkiRen which African country isn't hell?
he’s rhodesian
He's Rhodesian not South African !
Good
Excellent job explaining! Subscribed!
During black history month famous actors are reduced to “friend”
can you Shorten: Greylins
The guy is rhodesian not south african
Danny was a Rhodesian not a South African, this fool didn’t watch the film or only understands geography from an American perspective.
AI channel, Bot is reading the video
