The biggest thing for business is making sure you have disclaimers, liabilities and forms aligned. I damn near got sued when I was in business (I'm in CA aka The Sue State). Which also brings me to next point #2: make sure you structure your business properly (ie LLC, sole proprietor, incorporated etc). Then #3: get licensed, bonded and insured
great content, not starting a business anytime soon but good info! don't care about the mic quality, he's speaking off the cuff, he's literally offering help for anyone who needs it, that's awesome , solid guy
In addition to determining whether a market exists and how big it is, you also need to determine what competition exists - not just other exotic car rentals, but car rental companies in general and car "lending" like Turo - then determine how you are going to compete and how much of the market they are going to leave you. IMHO the exotic car rental business has too many probable big risks. It can be reasonably expected that most renters will "put the hammer down" at some point and given that most renters will not have had any experience with high powered vehicles it is quite probable bad (and expensive to fix) things will happen.
It appears the issue with the mic is that it’s on his undershirt and not the hoodie. When his throat hits the mic from his movement the audio goes bad. If it was on the hoodie it would be immune to his movements
Starting an exotic rental company seems a lot like trying to start an airline. Significant barriers to entry, high operating costs, fickle demand, and a customer base that shops almost exclusively on price. Yet people want to start them because it seems like a flashy and sexy business. You want to get involved in cars you're better off starting a buy-here-pay here lot and flipping volume making money hand over fist.
I love the business videos. You should do more on car-related business such as repair shops, tire shops, detailing, etc. with successful people in these areas.
You have given very invaluable information, specifically concerning insurance which is where I see a lot of these gurus cutting corners on by passing the liability in some for or another to everyone else. What also got my attention was that they use a lot of creative ways of renting the vehicles, such as renting other's vehicle. I wasn't aware of this being legal at all but it's practiced. Thank you again for sharing and providing this info.
Thank you for the information, as well as making yourself available to help out. I plan to take you up on the offer to answer specific questions when I've done enough work to have specific questions
Because the video has horrible audio, I will break down the video in a couple of sentences: Research the demand in the area. The business must own the cars (don't borrow). Get renters insurance (start with cheaper cars - sub 100k as they are easier to insure). Don't buy E-books on how to start exotic car rental business. Ask Rob specific questions of problems and he will help you. That's basically it.
Sorted has been the biggest balls up. 4 days ago Rob said it would be up “tomorrow”. Seeing how he signs off every video with “see you tomorrow” and we don’t see him for a while. I think his “tomorrow” mean 7-14 days. I understand he is a VERY busy man but give it to Hartford to upload etc! Then it might be consistent. I think every episode the views have been less and less! I don’t think that would have been the case with reliable uploads. Oh well....pretty sure it won’t be back after this season!
Btw you could always donate the proceeds to charity. It at least weeds out the 10 year olds and protects your time. If they're willing to pay up they're more likely to be serious about it.
@@JF-ns5zs To each their own. I own a couple businesses, and know why people do Montana plates... Please reach out to me when your finished with any rentals and your ready to sell. PORSCHE especially. If you can, do a video on a car dealership. I'm having issues getting good inventory right now w everyone running vars in the auctions. And the fees are insane now.
Thanks for the video. I'll be starting a business soon so I'm looking forward to the series. Hopefully I'll be able to afford an adventure drives ticket when the time comes.
You said the exotic rental company doesn't make money, how when you have three million dollars worth of cars that's a lot of down payments and monthly payments please explain? Plus you had a warehouse that you built that takes money.
I'm so sorry to bother you Rob. Out here in somerset Kentucky we have something called summer night cruise. A lot of people have nice old school cars that they show off as they drive em up and down the strip.. with that being said. A LOOOOT of people sit with their kids and friends on the sides of the strip WISHING that was them... I think it would be another place you could set up shop. I just hope you check it out. There are plenty of people who come out here from Ohio because of the lake in somerset Kentucky.
And everyone else that lives here just gets to watch as they all take over the city... and we all get jealous cause we can't afford to buy one but the rental idea isn't too far off. I was also thinking of an idea for a membership... monthly and yearly.. I think that it would take off here.. yes your cars will get more mileage.. but the membership means everyone would do it because they can afford it. They don't have to be all luxury. Just nice cars. I promise you will get a lot more revenue in somerset too. I'm just saying you should look into it.. I'm not a businessman. And I barely know anything about that side of it. But I promise this is a great spot.
If you would like... the beginning of the season is about to start and I will walk around and get opinions from multiple people watching cars on the strip. And I will even go to the marinas in case you would like to branch out to houseboats.
Population, Rob has about 25 million people in a 100-mile radius. and in a major business and tourist destination , How close to that are you is the first question you need to ask your self . And then ask what is the price of pineapples in Hawaii , and the price where you are?
My interest in cars rentals has been on hold for a long time, but I need to learn a lot more before getting into it. The truth is, Rob, I learned a lot from you, and I was drawn to your videos because of the way you delivered your tips (honest and straight to the point). I have a question for you today, Rob. What is the budget for marketing on Adsense, for example, on an annual basis? Thanks
Rob, this video is right up my alley. I have some questions on your view of the market and if my idea makes sense. I’d love to contact you and get your opinion.
Hey, Rob whats the best way to secure funding to purchase 5 cars in a high net worth area, say CA, OC, I bought a few cheaper end supercars during the pandemic and rented them through turo but I vetted the renters myself on top of what turo had, but I didn't feel good given them so much cut off my pie. Thanks for the input.

What GPS companies do you use?
What rental management software do you use?
How do you manage your calendar to not double book cars?
