Tina I don't know if you ever read these comments but just in case here goes. I have heard all the different stories and rumors about where you disappeared to. Doesn't matter. Here's what does. You have clearly established yourself as one of the absolute best guitarists on the planet. That is regardless of gender or age. You're one of the best...period. 2020 has been a god awful year. We've lost Neal Peart, Eddie Van Halen, and Sean Connery. There's been a horrible pandemic. Here in America there's been unrest, a racial divide and a serious lack of humanity. In times like this music is at the least a great distraction and at it's best can be a healing balm. Music can soothe the soul and heal the heart. As one of music's most gifted ambassadors I ask you to please consider returning to share your gift with us once again. We'd also love to hear you speak. No one can tell your story as well as you can. You lived it after all. You have fans that appreciate and admire your talent and will support you. @damian ponce not sure you understand how music works. At one point or another pretty much everybody's plays someone else's composition. Still takes alot of talent. Also if you watch more than just this video you will see how she adapts these songs. Example Herman Lee of Dragon Force explained how she adapted Through the Flames, that uses 2 guitars playing different parts on the solo, for a single player. That takes talent. Never understood why anybody would feel the need to knock someone else's ability.
This incredible masterpiece was composed by a school kid of Tina's age in this video all the way back in 1980s. When Jason got a chance to record it a year later in the studio after he was done composing, he played guitars (there are 2 guitars in places for harmony here and 'Air' has 3 guitars in places for counterpoint), bass, and keyboards all by himself and Atma Anur played the drums. He didn't just record this piece this way, he recorded entire 'Perpetual Burn' (1988) album that to this day remains a shred bible. Jason got diagnosed with a fast-progressing debilitating disease (ALS - think Stephen Hawking) only a couple years later at the age of 20 and was given only 3-5 years to live and hasn't played guitar at all since age 21. Today Jason remains the longest ALS survivor with over 30 years with this disease, a record held previously by Stephen Hawking who passed several years ago. Jason still composes amazing music but being unable to move anything but his eyes it's difficult to get the music out of his head. Never the less he still released highly acclaimed 'Triumphant Hearts' album in 2018. You should check it out as well as 'Perspective' album (1996) and of course 'Perpetual Burn' album. Jason is more than just a shredder, he's an incredible music composer that spans almost every genre of music from classical orchestration to pop to rock/metal, even some jazzy and choral works. My personal favorite arrangemement and orchestration of his is 'Life and Death' from his 'Perspective' album, everyone should go hear it just to get an idea what kind of musical mind he is. He composed this whole thing note by note while paralyzed and orchestrated it on MIDI. One day just like his 'Air' masterpiece, 'Life and Death' and others will be also covered by orchestra.
Jason Becker will, in probabiltiy, NEVER find a better rendition of this glorious piece of music he has created. What Tina has done here, as in all the other covers I have heard her play, she has set herself miles apart form the rest, to the point that she has, in my opinion, officially alienated.herself. The depth of her knowledge and skills to produce what she did in all known Tina S covers, is (something like...) beyond comprehension, unimaginable, unexplainable, unfathomable. Tina has sort of urged to me to discover of the world's really great guitarists, and belive me, there are many, mene and women, but I am convinced that Tina S has become the ultimate of my discoveries. Tina Setkic - in a class of her own - CLASSIFIED. There you have it. I have said it and I certainly neither retract or regret any of the above.
She hasn't played and skipped an entire arpeggio section. Literally every other cover on youtube is better, so idk what you are talking about. Not bragging but even my cover of altitudes is better than this. She has improvised a lot instead of playing what Jason did.
So stop saying that just because she's a girl and listen to it carefully again, you'll realise it too. But I'm not saying it's bad, it's a pretty damn awesome cover in fact but definitely not the best.
Tina just keeps getting better and better. Her immense guitar talent is constantly evolving. I think in this performance she injects a lot of emotion into her playing. Her facial expressions and body demeanor also reflect this display of emotional, heartfelt guitar playing in honor of the great Jason Becker.
This young girl, Tina S. unbelievable, listening to what she is doing on the guitar and watching her do it has got to be the most spectacular thing I have ever seen anybody do with a damn guitar and I've been playing and studing guitar for 50 years, how can a girl this young possibly be this advanced in the short time that she has even been alive, it does not even seem possible
I am crying right now... Tears running down my face... You ripped and tore my soul apart piece by piece. Thank you Jason Becker for this masterpiece and thank you Tina S for your amazing talent and your heart.
Each day I hope to see, hear, and feel Tina unveil her own complete compilation. This young guitarist is truly heading to epic fame. Genius mind. Depth of heart. And stunning beauty. Tina you have it all. Change the world. You changed mine. The Universe is all you.
What would it take for her to be willing to try a serious joint project with someone that has nothing but solid ideas. Tina S I need your gift on my vision.
My all time favorite guitarist. The most talented, artistic, technically superb, moving ever to walk the earth. Please come back Tina. The world is blessed to have you.
Well.. Jason Becker wrote and played all the parts of this song minus the drums at 19 years old. I think he gets first dibs on the credit and the play of this masterful piece..
@@dvr1337 how is she "better"? She's talented but Tina didn't miss a single note on this cover. Jasmin Starr is definitely talented, but until she does the full song, Tina S's rendition rules over the short clip Jasmin played. Both played the fast section solos exactly the same, but this song is more than just the fast bits - it's the bends, vibrato and other elements that really makes it an amazing song. Haven't seen that kind of playing out of Jasmin - she's technically very proficient, but that's not all there is to this.
To the 471 thumbs down. Jason Becker gave his thumbs up told her she did a nice job. You guys only think that you are great. I bet she could smoke every one of you.. My opinion, if you don't like her playing just go somewhere else. She is amazing, so very talented and now considered to be one of the best in the world. Lets see your credentials. Awesome Tina and you just get better and better. I bow to you. You are amazing.
This is an incredible performance. But, what's even more incredible is that Jason actually composed this piece. Phenomenal composing. His sense of melody almost brings a tear to the eye. Truly remarkable.
The piece is incredible, it's not incredible that Jason composed it imo bc Jason is a musical genius and gifted beyond words. It's very credible that he composed it. 😅
This was beautiful and talented. I am a fan of Jason Becker. This tune is very familiar to me. I have been dreaming a lot in listening to this song and the whole album. Tina performed it amazingly. I got back to the old days when i listened heavy metal and talented guitar players.
Jason becker is the only artists i have seen her cover where it's clear she is trying...the rest are so effortless for her. That says lots about both becker and this girls insane level of talent/hard work
This piece is insanely hard to play, not only for speed in the sweeping parts but also for the ridiculous legato and all the nuances Becker adds into his playing. The man was truly the greatest there ever was
+WeWantYouToStay You should see Gus Drax version of Altitudes on RUclips, talk about excellent, Gus cover is awesome, check it out and you will be a Gus Drax fan!
James McClellan Loomis' tone is atrocious and his cover is no more than by-the-numbers... I don't know what could possess you to enjoy the man's playing over Becker's, he's fast but insanely dull
It isn't just her technical ability to play this piece but the maturity, conviction, and emotional gift she displays in the interpretation of such masterpiece.
Jason Becker was a freak of guitar knowledge. Those who can grasp it are part of the downloading of the universe. How can anyone be so gifted as to understand music at such a young age? It has to be downloaded into you at the moment of birth which blows away all ideas of talent because it must be some other force that we cannot comprehend. I have played guitar for over 40 yrs and have tried to play Jason`s stuff but it comes so hard for me yet some youngster can just lay it out with ease? I can play some of it, but it is tough. These children are born and can just wail on it so easily? The universe has to be a computer program for this to happen.
Mozart already challenged any learning theories in his time. I have explanations which satisfy me, but the fact is not all humans are born equal. Anybody can increase their potential, but not everybody can reach the same heights. Self-made people are a myth; but effort and improvement are realities. I've been trying to play Air myself for the past 25 years... not there yet, might never be. XD
I first heard Tina about 5 years ago...was inspired to become a good guitarist...intead of the intermediate player I had been to that point. To this day, I find myself reinspired every single time I hear her play. Thanks Tina, I hope to hear from you again someday ! 👍
🎸 Words are insufficient to describe the skill level required to replicate this as well as she did. It’s always a pleasure to hear and watch her play. Hoping all is well with Tina S wherever she may be.
Stephen Davies It isn't so, she isn't very clean, if you slow down the video for example in the sweeping part you can't distinguished every notes, it's quite confused
I was in Glasgow today and walked past a little scallywag about 19 yrs old strumming a guitar badly. He had an adoring audience of about 15 girls listening to every pained chord he played. This girl has most of the youtube guitar community listening to her every note and she's only 16. Incredible talent
I am a big fan of all your guitar's covers, but this one is my favorite, so intense! Thanks so much Tina for having shared all these videos, and to have kept them available online. Very precious... Merci beauoup Tina!
Every time I watch a Tina S vid I lose track of reality for a moment... is this real? Is there actually talent like this on the planet somewhere? You could possibly be one of the most talented and captivating artists... you cause people to feel connected to music in ways words cannot express... hope you come back!!!
every time I see you, listen to you, I am blown away... no words are right enough to express what I feel. you have this real talent that distinguishes the very good from the legends. no matter what happened, what was said and right from wrong I don't care. I hope all is well with you. I never tire of listening to you. Thanks for these wonderful videos. sincerely i miss you so much ✌️
Seriously, who thumbs this down? I'm seriously fascinated by the depths of envy and/or inadequacy that would prompt someone to dislike a nearly flawless rendition of an extremely difficult track. 6 thumbs up!
@@ayybudayy i agree with the vibrato and the feel but the girl is playing so many many different artists music that it can be difficult to capture the exact feel of someone elses performance and that she is playing a very difficult piece to begin with. But i absolutely understand what you saying and I know that its not a insult or a negative comment in reference to her playing at all. however other people may sense it to be a negative comment but its not. What your saying that is lacking at least in this performance is correct and its not due to her lack of ability to do that its just a finesse thing that a person only gets whenever they continue to play for years years years etc. A person becomes polished and then the finesse sets in once they have developed their own style and its hard to say when that happens for each person bcuz some gain it quickly and others varie. Just depends really. But shes phenominal and hell i can look past all the hair splittin stuff bcuz that piece is out of my capability myself so i feel u on that one.

@@LogioTek True master, I'ved played keyboard improvised for 22 years and still get inspired by the amazing work Jason done and played by the talented girl before our eyes :D
The honest part that makes her covers stand out is how she doesn’t shy away from picking legato . Simply stated, at that speed picking legato is practically rendered as a feat surmounted by few. And to have them be discernable is mind boggling. I raise my figurative glass to you, and heck, I might give this one a go
This is literally the Mozart of our time, this song is the most spectacular song in my existence and certainly is the most meaningful piece of art I’ve ever known, Jason Becker was a prodigy and you have performed this with such passion and experience. @@salty21 The difference between the numbers is sad. So much of the music that blows up or is popular today (not all) is a big dumpster fire. @@salty21 I’m 21, and have played the Violin for 10 years now (started 6th grade). @@kylesmith9048 Have you seen Roman Kim playing violin? I listen to his amazing Concerto #1, '3 Romances', 'Dies Irae' all the time when I drive. His 'God Save The King' and 'I Palpiti' renditions are crazy good.
Lovely playing. I've never been able to approach this speed and dexterity. Love videos like this because they put my ego into place. Amazing stuff, and not "just for her age" Amazing, period!

I believe you are the most gifted and talented young lady I've ever seen and heard, and you are most certainly in the top tear of guitarists in the world. There is a very high probability that in the next 2 or 3 years you could be crowned guitar queen of the earth by the great council of the guitar gods. Bill Norris and how do you know this? Because In the documentary “not dead year” multiple people say that he recorded each song often in one take - and then would overdub some harmony lines but the main part was one take
@@willowsparks4576 Yes Jason did almost everything in one take. He even says he would record a piece and someone ask him to play it later and he wouldn't be able to recall and repeat what he played because it was just once in his head right there when he played it and he never wrote it down as notes. And we are talking about someone who still composes music to this day all in his head while fully paralyzed.

@@devourerofthots5598 no, he didn't mean for her age! Nor did he mean because she doesn't have what you have between your legs... or your ears for that matter!
as a guitarist myself, i second that. i ve heard so much gutiarist in my life, but this girl is one of a kind in many decades. she isnt only fast so to say. she even dont need to shred. she is highly accurate, timing and expression are absolutely flawless imo and she doesnt look like its the end of the line for her too haha. its not even my cup of tea what she is playing, its HOW she is playing it. nothin but love to say about that young ladies gifts.
@Sweet Science! Being able to play difficult songs for RUclips covers vs being able to write and play them live is a big difference. She is amazingly talented but I can guarantee you she will admit she's not one of the best of all time by any means. Jason Richardson, Jason Becker, Dr Viossy, Herman Li, Jackey Vincent, Rusty Cooly, Petrucci, and I could keep going for hundreds of names. She is incredible, but its impossible to call her one of the best from a few covers on the internet.
@Sweet Science! I have played lead guitar in a band as well but only for one live show then corona hit. Im not saying there's no chance she is or will be one of the best, but we simply haven't seen enough of her to know. There are hundreds if not thousands of people who could have done the covers shes done. Also, not to say she isn't an amazing song writer, but we have seen absolutely nothing from her to support that. I hope your right and she does create amazing music, but to call someone with no known original music one of the best ever is an insane leap. To call someone a troll or a moron for disagreeing with you about such a leap, is idiotic. Also, as far as playing live goes, that through the fire and the flames video was cut together. Its still incredibly impressive that she played both lead parts to such a difficult song, but you can't use it as proof she could play as good as the guitar greats do live.
One of my two favorites,Tina is sometimes reviewed as having no emotions while she’s playing, but I see just the opposite. Tina isn’t playing for entertainment, she’s playing for herself and that speaks volumes.
Magnificent! Those who have been following Tina for a few years and appreciate her qualities would be able to easily identify her playing in a crowd of covers. It would stand out clearly. She is relentlessly developing a distinct and individual style and sound. (Exciting, powerful, beautiful) Of course, she will always improve and learn as all players should throughout their careers. She should self-analyze her work (which I'm sure she does, probably very critically) and listen closely to her excellent instructor (and to a wide variety of music...rock, classical, jazz, blues...absorb it all). She should pay no attention to random RUclips commenters who pretend they know the "right" way. She should realize that there will always be large numbers of people who can't imagine diverting from the well-worn stylistic path, and everything truly individual will shock their sensibilities and will be "wrong" to them. ...Ignore them. Dig deep, Tina, into your own soul and power of individual expression (all the while learning). Be bold. You have the rare touch, dear. Many of us know it and have known it for quite a while.
+John McDonald Right U are plus she most likely is her own toughest critic, although I myself see nothing to critique!!!! and I`m sure she very much listens to her instructor, and the people that say she`s playing it wrong, she`s playing it in her style which is of course the way it should be,and she should definitely push the naysayers aside and not even pay attention to them! I for one will always be in her corner! Thumbs up to Renaud to {hope I spelled right}I had to edit and take 1 word out of caps anyone who has read this will know.
+John McDonald Her biggest mistake was playing the clean part with distortion! Haha, no I'm just kidding. This was definitely her most challenging cover yet, although that Dragon Force song is hard. I think the commenters tend to forget that she's only 16-17. Granted she has basically had professional, classical training most of her life, but most haters can't even comprehend how difficult covering something like this can be. She is seriously down to earth (based on an interview I read) and I think that, combined with obvious talent frustrates jealous people twice her age who can't play half as well. I really do enjoy catching up to all her latest videos as I tend to do from time to time. It's pretty cool to watch her progression through music and I really hope to listen to some of her own original music soon! There's no doubting she has the technical prowess required to play virtually any piece. Not to mention her good taste in music, a rare quality of the younger generations of today.
Scarified 2012 Yes, Tina is a strong, determined girl...very serious and professional (and, as you say, down to earth). RUclips comments. which are often jealous, foolish, and ignorant (goes with the territory, I guess) -- not to mention constricted and musically narrow-minded (usually to feign super-expertise) -- could very well damage a less secure and individual young guitarist. But Tina just keeps improving in her very individual manner and astonishing us relentlessly! I admire her very much.
Seriously how does a 16 year old play these very technical guitar tracks and she's not even looking? Wherever she is she needs to take this talent to a form a group. This is beyond talent, just a natural to nail tracks from some of the very best guitarist ever and make it look easy.
What you do is you start learning, properly, with relevant teaching, very young.. and keep going with all the best training. It happens with lots of classical musicians.
Thank you for sharing your talent with us mortals. Probably the 100th + time I've watched one of your vids. It helps take my mind off of other problems in life and just enjoy the moment. Seriously, thank you for this.
The bends in the intro part sound sort of lame. I know, 'artistic expression' and everything, but to me she is simply not hitting the mark there. Which is a shame because overall the technical brilliancy is stunning.
I've been coming back a bunch of her music over the years. It's been a good while since she posted anything and I get that stuff changes quickly when your young. But regardless where you are, what your doing I hope your well and enjoying life.
I spent hours listening to Guitar Masters tapes when I was 14. There was this tune which I know most of the notes. She's missing none of them ! Enormissime !

She is a prodigy and this shouldn't be ignored. My wife is a piano teacher and you wouldn't believe how musically under educated kids are these days. Their music "appreciation" is directed towards the most disgusting music I've ever heard in my 35 years. We need more of this girl and students who aspire to be at least half this good.
Well said. Btw Jason was her age 16-17 when he composed this and half a dozen other masterpieces like his 'Air' m.ruclips.net/video/Vt4YHlSbuk0/видео.html
I wonder how long it'll take for the next renaissance? Sculptures literally took over a thousand years the recover the skills of ancient Greeks. Admittedly, the amount of knowledge out there now has produced many more guitar 'virtuosos than in the 1960s, as evident with hundreds of RUclips of young people shredding in their bedrooms. However, I think you're right in suggesting most of Western civilization is currently decadent (which, ironically, seems to be championed as a sign of being 'progressive').

My goodness, that was well said.
He's just copying Jason Becker, this work is his composition, not hers.
people who copy songs from others are plenty and she is one more.

He's a genius, it just heartbreaking what has happened.
@@trankiltavu609 sure but that's the point I'm making, 16 year old Jason composed the thing she is playing

rbagel55 yeah the burning question is can she write music?

The man was truly the greatest there ever was
I'd like to see her attempt to cover perpetual burn next!!
+WeWantYouToStay You should see Gus Drax version of Altitudes on RUclips, talk about excellent, Gus cover is awesome, check it out and you will be a Gus Drax fan!
John Lozano Jeff Loomis does it better. Actually...I like Loomis better than Becker. Tina is a monster though.

Absolutely amazing! You make it look so easy! That's when you know you're looking at true talent!
Amazing musicality and precision. What a fantastic super guitarist.
For this cover, she gives so much of herself that her guitar cries, I get goose bumps.

Scarified 2012
Yes, Tina is a strong, determined girl...very serious and professional (and, as you say, down to earth).

Great precision on the bends and vibrato.. great shredding.. just wow..
So awesome !! Most people play over Jason's track but this is all her....Amazing.
You can hear Jason's track under Tina's playing, especially in parts where she rushes her bends and you hear Jason's bends.
What a feeling ! every note she plays is pure and round. Go on Tina !
mantap girl
This young lady is probably the best guitarist I'm ever gonna see on video, amazing talent
Можно смотреть и слушать и наслаждаться музыкой и созданным образом бесконечно ...
Ouaip pareil
She is a prodigy and this shouldn't be ignored. My wife is a piano teacher and you wouldn't believe how musically under educated kids are these days. Their music "appreciation" is directed towards the most disgusting music I've ever heard in my 35 years. We need more of this girl and students who aspire to be at least half this good.
Well said. Btw Jason was her age 16-17 when he composed this and half a dozen other masterpieces like his 'Air' m.ruclips.net/video/Vt4YHlSbuk0/видео.html
@@LogioTek i actually think its more impressive that jason composed air at age 15 than tina covering his song at age 16
@@Person-cv9dj oh for sure but Jason only composed mellow intro melody of Air at 15, most of the counter-point stuff was when he was 17
@@LogioTek i mean even just the intro melody sounds so great
I wonder how long it'll take for the next renaissance? Sculptures literally took over a thousand years the recover the skills of ancient Greeks. Admittedly, the amount of knowledge out there now has produced many more guitar 'virtuosos than in the 1960s, as evident with hundreds of RUclips of young people shredding in their bedrooms. However, I think you're right in suggesting most of Western civilization is currently decadent (which, ironically, seems to be championed as a sign of being 'progressive').
Wow!!! Super cool
I love her vibrato!!!
She is AWESOME!!!
Como pode parar de postar vídeos aqui meu Deus essa música é muito difícil e olha a perfeição que você tocou ela Tina ,não apenas essa música todas que eu vi aqui meu Deus 👏👏👏👏👏👏🦋🦋🦋🦋
She made Malmsteen look easy to play, but put all her heart and soul in this one. I am still convinced nobody ever topped Becker songwriting and playing.
Dear Tina, we miss you, but i hope you are well and do whatever makes you happy
Damn!, this girl can play from the opening note, I knew she could play and make Jason proud!
You have a phenomenal gift, thank you for sharing it.
This is a ravishingly beautiful cover. It sounds so good.
