    I‘m a citizen of Nara. 😊
    Why Nara's deer bow. ☝️
    ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
Deer🦌: Hey! Give what you have in your hand! ︎😎
If you don't give it to me soon, I'll bite your leg!
    Did you understand? 🦌
Human👤: Yes, I'll give it to you. 😱
Please, please stop biting me in the leg! 🍘🦌😁❤🍀

Ahh this is so good to see! I am also an ethical vegan and while I decided to not do any animal cafes in my upcoming trip, I was wondering what other ethical vegans felt about Nara since I love deer. I'm glad to see they look happy and fine and to see your firsthand experience doing it.

We felt a similar way about the animal cafes - from my understanding, the treatment of the deer in Nara is ethical. They are definitely not sedated in any way, and it just seems like they co-inhabit the town. I know they go through efforts to make sure the deer don't eat any litter or food that they can't have, and the crackers you feed them with are specifically made to suit the deer's nutritional needs. I'm also pretty sure that the antlers are trimmed on the deer to prevent them from hurting/killing each other when fighting over mates. Btw, if you're planning on stopping in Kyoto or Osaka, I made vegan food guides on those places which could be helpful

@@WanderlustWellman I'll definitely check the Kyoto one out! I think I saw the Osaka one first, and appreciated your weighing in on the two different vegan okonomiyaki options. A lot more nuanced than the other guides I saw.
