- Rishi Sunak declared “now is the moment for Britain to choose its future” as he announced the general election will be held on July 4.
Speaking in Downing Street in the pouring rain this afternoon, a soaked Mr Sunak vowed to “fight for every vote” as he pitched the election as a direct battle between him and Sir Keir Starmer.
The Prime Minister took a swipe at Sir Keir and suggested his counterpart was not fit to lead the nation, claiming the Labour leader had shown “time and time again that he will take the easy way out and do anything to get power”.

There are better systems that PR that still allow for constituent MP's whilst staying clear of FPTP which is blatantly bad for democracy, systems like Aditional Member system, Single Transferrable Vote or Supplementary Vote.

Nah, i’d say reform the HoL into a proportional representation, FPTP works well for what we need, i understand why people want this change but this allows for people to speak up to their MP and get issues into parliament instead of not being able to do anything, if it has to change, what scotland has would work better with additional member system

Mr Bray deserves to be given a Knighthood. Our economy is only growing faster than a few other economies because it's been set further back than theirs. People need to think more in the UK when politicians speak, and hold them to account. 14 years and we have higher taxes, less services and a far bigger national debt. Workers left and people seeking safety are told they will not be alliwed to work but we'll put them up in hotels (run by a guy who just leapt into the Times rich list making millions a day from this shamles... bet ge donates a touch back to tge oarty that minted him).

Self proclaimed Zionist Starmer walked back on the policy established under Corbyn when both the 2017 and 2019 election manifestos pledged to immediately recognise Palestine if Labour won power. However, now an election has been called he needs to recover the lost Muslim vote over his refusal to call - over many months - for a ceasefire in Gaza ...as well as his LBC recorded complicity in supporting collective punishment. A Palestinian statehood announcement now would potentially bring back those voters as well as disillusioned Labour supporters on the left of the party. Naturally he will consult with the BOD before making this bold move.
