    Just landed here without any effort on my part and I'm so glad!!! Imo, the reason 'some' decide all or nothing is a good choice is because of youtube creators who push those big ideas, because they ran out of others ideas and because other ideas long ago saturated these videos. And, the trendy thing now is women tackling these big renovations all by themselves and it's a great storyline. Some actually are able to renovate by themselves and I commend them for doing so but not all YT videos are true. That said, I love love your thinking here and it's also my own, mostly because major redos will never be in my budget. Moreso, I opt for solid maintenance, making sure the nuts and bolts of my house are in tiptop shape. And thankfully, there are so many ways in which to make a home lovely by using ideas such as these right here and I cannot wait to explore all the other videos. Thanks for this realistic approach?!!

    I’ve been following another designer here on RUclips. While her design suggestions are great, they are not in my budget. So glad this video popped up! My bathroom, unfortunately, need to be gutted. My husband owns a custom cabinet shop. You’d think everything in my house would be done, but you know the saying about the shoemaker’s children. Subscribed and am looking forward to your videos!

    All the four bathrooms I wished I could pick out colors like you do or I could really use you to come over and give me some hints. I’m in my 70s now and I would like to maybe make everything look brand new and shiny. Thanks for being you I enjoy your site. Hope to see you in more.❤

    Maria. You are the first designer who actually helps us save on renovations. The idea that one must tear down a fairly ok bathroom and spend oodles on a high end redo isn’t in the budget for most people I know. These suggestions put me on the right track as I consider updating my 90s bath. Thank you.

    Oh my gosh! How have I not seen your content before now! I loved everything about this video! After decades of moving all over the world (Thank you, USAF!) we moved into our current home 20 years ago. We’ve always enjoyed putting our own stamp on homes we’ve owned and this space was no different. We’ve updated our bathrooms and kitchen ourselves. We’ve never lived in a house long enough for our changes to go out of date. Although I’ve never chased fads, it’s time to make more changes again in this house. Painting the master bath is a fantastic idea. We have one whole wall of windows with fantastic light. The current color is a creamy, light coffee color. I’ve always gone for neutral colors, but I’m going to investigate color…particularly green which is the accent in the adjacent master bedroom. Thank you!

    I have spent the last three years updating my house. Top to bottom. I swear to God, I am never doing it again. I am going to hopefully live in this house for the next 30 years and watch the trends that I have right now come and go. I never want to do this again.

      Home renovations are not like they appear on HGTV. I can fully understand your vow to never do it again. Aside from the expense, the problem is having your house in disarray. All of the rehab shows start with an empty room. That is fine before you occupy a new home but if you have been living in a fully furnished house, emptying rooms is a nightmare and something is bound to be broken. And where do you store everything? In the garage? Rent a storage trailer that will be parked in your driveway (so you can’t use your garage)? Bathroom and kitchen renovations are the most disruptive if you plan on living in the house. My advice is to work on one room at a time.

      Yes and some of the trends that come and go, I never want to see again! I jumped on the band wagon at the time, usually a bit late, only to have to live with that color until I could rip it out and do something more pleasing to my personal taste.

    • @nogames8982
      @nogames8982 9 месяцев назад

      @@joyceschetter5871 I didn't get real trendy. The paint colors are bright and bold but I went more conservative with things like backsplash and shower tile. it's a small house, in a relatively poor neighborhood. Nothing fancy. But it works for me and I'm never gonna update anything else in this house again if I can help it. except for basic maintenance of course.

    Just found your channel by chance! My small bathroom is white with deep-aqua wall tiles with a few 'red' diamond accent tiles. [Hated at first], but huge job to replace them all]. So I embraced the red. Added the same deep red in bath mats and same red with two plant pots [1 med and 1 small]. 3 small-ish paintings with red frames across a wall. Looks okay now. I won't even mention the pale-aqua floor tiles! [we call the bathroom the 'swimming pool']. But replacing the floor tiles [3m x 1.8m] with a neutral light colour will make a cheaper, big difference, I think. So have SUBSCRIBED to your channel for more help with the rest of the house, haha. Thank you so much, Maria. Cheers from Sunshine Coast. Qld. Oz

    Ive just subscribed to your channel when I saw this video and it is so so up my alley and mindset! Thank you for your common sense approach. I’m trying right now to figure out a good undertone and paint color for my hall bathroom that has the floor, baseboard area and shower in light bujack walnut travertine. I can’t figure out if the travertine has a pink, orange or gold undertone. I don’t think it’s pink but I’m stumped. Anyone have any recommendations?

    One thing I do not think you mentioned was regarding the tile grout. I bought a house that was built in the 90s and it had thick grout lines in chocolate brown. I thought I would have to rip the whole thing out of four bathrooms as I could not live with the dark brown grout. One contractor suggested to me that I color the grout and I thought “yeah right that’s gonna look crummy. “. However I bought the Mapei Grout Refresh and Colorant & sealer in bisque to match the sinks. It was the perfect color with the creamy square tiles. Easy diy! Just prep the existing ties and grout thoroughly to remove any soap residue and apply with small paintbrush. Wipe off excess. Its been over two years❤ and all tile areas look as good as new requiring only minor touch up around the sinks. ( I prepped again and resealed). I couldn’t have chosen better tile, sinks, toilets, tubs etc if I was remodeling! Every color accent decor and towels/rugs complement those creamy colors!! So each bathroom has its own personality!! Thank You for creating such valuable videos. I am planning on looking at the rest of your videos as I have just found your channel!

    I like the last bathroom. Checkerboard floors are coming back. I think it has a Bridgerton look to it. I would google Regency Georgian checkerboard floor and look for inspiration there. I like the existing chandelier. To take off the 80’s edge I would get a different mirror. Some wood color in the room would be good to turn down the glam 80’s look. Maybe an antique wood chair or cabinet by the shower. A rug to soften the bold floor tile.
    The green idea seems ok, but takes it more towards an Art Deco/80’s look, or diner look as opposed to a regency/Georgian look. Other bold looks that I see online with checkerboard tile are more black (like black window trim, black doors, black picture frames), or green walls, or ornate wall paper… but these ideas need more careful consideration.

    Why do I see so many tub/shower curtains hanging 6" above the floor? Any type of curtain should come close to the floor, and the shower curtain liner can be on a separate rod so it hangs straight down inside the tub/shower. An option is to have the outside shower curtain hang from ceiling to floor!
