I miss the strange house days, this is what the horrors will always be to me. In saying that I really respect the direction their music has taken and that they are playing how they want to.
i was on this concert, only time ive seen the horrors sadly. but it was one of the best live acts i have ever been to. so much energy on stage that you could taste it. needless to say, i bought the album as soon as i got back home :3
oh my god, i just LOVE this - they're so raw live. to the person who said they arnt well known in America (and everyone else actually..) - spread the word already!
@JoshuaRFox Wrong. "Jack the Ripper" is a 1960s song by Screaming Lord Sutch. It's been a popular cover for garage-influenced bands, notably the White Stripes, The Black Lips, The Horrors, The Gruesomes, The Fuzztones, etc., etc.
You can't really top the old sleazy grind of the pioneers of this type of post-punk, (Birthday Party especially) but I give these guys props for doing it as well as they do.
the first time i ever heard of them was june or july 2006 in i-D magazine's Horror issue. They looked really emo to me too, but then i downloaded some of their music they sounded old school punk. im so glad they finally came out with an album :D
@rodheltir not emo ,garage punk ,please !!! and this song is by screaming lord sutch in the sixties ,produced by joe meek my friend!!! but yeah , birthday party is one of their influences.
Nice, its such a different song to listen to after listening to these versions. Its almost happy, horrors do a good job but ive been listening to the white stripes for a long time.
theres something very nick cave about this being played at that speed. when I saw the horrors a couple of years ago in belfast they played this even slower, not even half the speed. one of the best live bands ever
@PaintedTeleportation I am well aware of that song. I suppose the end of it sounds a bit like this, but just because of one song I wouldn't really call the two bands similar. When you look at songs like "Siberian Breaks" or "Someone's Missing", the styles are completely different than even the Horrors newest stuff.
saw them live in oxford. played dreary shit (really well...) all the way through - gave up sat at the back, and then they did their encore - the place vibrated and it was fucking amazing - but half the people left..
@Knudthebrute Yeah I saw them for Primary Colours and last month for Skying and of course they were amazing and nice everytime, but yeah that's really cool that you saw them then.
@tauroscorp The orignal of this version always sounds, to me, like it was recorded by a band that had heard the Sutch version once about a year before they recorded there's.
conozco el nombre de la banda pero desconozco su musica, prefiero el cover con the gruesomes , the fuzztones (mas garageras) o la de S.C.O.T.S,(mas surferona) la original no me late mucho (Screaming Lord Sutch).
i love all their new stuff, don't get me wrong. but i wish i could've seen them perform during this era ;_; also rhys looks like he's eating the mic. haha.
I miss the strange house days, this is what the horrors will always be to me. In saying that I really respect the direction their music has taken and that they are playing how they want to.
I miss THIS. the old Horrors
Sadly, I do too. They were so chaotic.
Perry Scinta definitely.ive seen them loads throughout the years and used to love the unpredictability of the early gigs
Young angry punk rock me agrees with you. Boring old current me disagrees with you and thinks they've gotten way better.
my favourite all the time
Concuerdo.
Well some folks don't know, but this was originally done by Screaming Lord Sutch way back when.
+Ricky Bobby and here we go: ruclips.net/video/c2ZsWENob1s/видео.html
Saw him live in the late seventies, an entertaining and funny show it was.
Marc Schnau I love it!!
"Jack the Ripper" is a song by English musician Screaming Lord Sutch, released as a 7" single in the UK and Germany in 1963 on Decca
O shit, i thought it was White Stripes! Thanks, lol.
The horrors taught me that!
Truly one of the greatest and most unique bands ever. I miss the strange house days though :/
Yeah, that was the times
That's one of the best live videos ive seen of them, I love Rhys when he says "Jack the Ripper"
The Horrors were ahead of their time
Rhys screaming
That was Josh, isn't it?
i was on this concert, only time ive seen the horrors sadly. but it was one of the best live acts i have ever been to. so much energy on stage that you could taste it.
needless to say, i bought the album as soon as i got back home :3
oh my god, i just LOVE this - they're so raw live. to the person who said they arnt well known in America (and everyone else actually..) - spread the word already!
Amazing performance!!
Favorite band of all time.

I kinda miss this kinda random chaos from the Horrors.
Go to a show its still there they bloody rock
@@droopy935 Its nothing like this show now
@@alan6 last time I saw them with about 40-50 people and they still went full energy! Faris crowdsurfed and Rhys was dancing along grooving
@@droopy935 Fair enough if its a good gig still. I have yet to see them live
i remember when the horrors were good
They still are, what tf u talking about
@@cannatacris Good but completely different , so many of the original listeners have gone
Lmao, Rhys' little movement across the stage
I love how Faris plugs his ears at 2:38 before Josh's epic scream XDDD
You can't really top the old sleazy grind of the pioneers of this type of post-punk, (Birthday Party especially) but I give these guys props for doing it as well as they do.
thanks man, i'll give it a listen
absurd number of good bands have covered the song
Nick Cave would be proud
the first time i ever heard of them was june or july 2006 in i-D magazine's Horror issue. They looked really emo to me too, but then i downloaded some of their music they sounded old school punk. im so glad they finally came out with an album :D
Oy mate, around 42 seconds in is my favorite part. Love you Farisss.
I listened to this show on the radio!
What a fucking good song
It is so rare to find a band that is equally good live as recorded (in my opinion they are even better live) :D i love the horrors :D
hey mate this song is a cover, and jack white's song is a cover too. the original was written by joe meek i think, i'm not 100% sure
i listen to them for their music and the way they look.

Oh my days I love love love this song so much! Amazing band love them
I adore the Horrors.
Actually, it's a Screaming Lord Sutch cover. White Stripes just happened to cover it too. The original song was written in the 60s.
what the hell is faris talking about at the start?
I cant wait i'm going to their houston concert!!
the way faris ascends when the music picks up LMFAO 😭
Love the backing vocals!!
Actually it's a cover. "Jack the Ripper" is by Screaming Lord Sutch, written/performed back in 1965. You can search him out on RUclips.
luv em, really good live!
Nice, its such a different song to listen to after listening to these versions. Its almost happy, horrors do a good job but ive been listening to the white stripes for a long time.

this guys are great :D
I just made a wee watching this. they are so epic
I really don't have a clue what you said, but Screamin' Lord Sutch was the bloke who wrote the song.
I don't think I have ever loved a band so much.
It's not even a fangirl thing, I just fucking adore them.
JOSH I LOVE YOU!!!!!

I miss these old performances where they screamed and danced around the stage :(
It's like a mixture of The Birthday Party and the Cramps' Garage Rock . . . I dig this stuff!

@JoshuaRFox Didn't use Wikipedia. Just love garage rock too much.
Really reminds me of Nick Cave. This song could easily appear on Murder Ballads.

@tauroscorp The orignal of this version always sounds, to me, like it was recorded by a band that had heard the Sutch version once about a year before they recorded there's.

@MariaShowScenes They're a deathly blend of shoegaze "noise pop" and Deathrock. It's glorious.
