Oh no! The Pinto pickup makes its millionth appearance on this channel! Ford never made one, get a clue! Now they made up a Vega and a Gremlin pickup to add to their lies...wow!
the worst was/is the boomer gM square body and lame sheet metal (consumers forget or don’t know how bad they were)they are not a safe vehicle shame on gM
@@bradzimmerman3171 you talking about the faked driver side impact fires that they had to use model rocket engine to get them to catch on fire?
@@MyNewUserName47 try and tell that to the people that had Relations that died in the Squair body pickups. Look up the facts there where a lot more people that died in the Chevy pickups than in Pintos.
@@mylanmiller9656
i was alive and driving during this time period. been behind the wheel since 1975.
it may have been one of the other shows, but i believe it was dateline that did it. after several failed attempts to film a side impact chevy pickup fire, they faked it using a model rocket engine with an igniter. this is 100% fact! they admitted that they did it. so i am telling you & everyone else, that show faked that fire.
do those pickups have an increased risk of fire in a side impact? yeah they do.
but there have been other vehicles that have caused people to die, firestone/ford exploders rolling over(mostly owner caused), dodge mini vans with back seats popping out,(mostly caused by the seat not being put back in properly by the owner) pre-65 corvairs rolling over. how many air bag deaths? and there are others.
there no such thing as a "safe" vehicle.
i knew and still know a lot of people who still own & drive these pickups. i've driven & rode in them alot.
i knew one guy that i know had totaled out 11 at least of those pickups. not all were his fault, but some were. his worst accident was in a brand new pickup sitting in traffic with both tanks full. a drunk chick doing about 50~60 mph ran into him on the passenger side. she nailed the bed/cab area, no fire. this was before seat belt laws and it tossed him out the passenger side window. it put him in the hospital for a few days.
till the day he died, he drove a square bodied chevy pickups.
yeah, life is dangerous.
live in fear under your bed and die, or get out there and take some risk and die, either way, you will die.
@@MyNewUserName47 Weather you were driving or not is not relative. You better look up the numbers More people died in the
My parents had the 1977 Dodge pickup with the 318 engine. It got 18 mpg loaded or empty. It was use in my parents store to haul freight. I carried a load of 4800 lbs of animal feed. It handled it with no problems. My Dad would haul a load of produce from Eastern Washington to the west side of the State. It wasn't fancy, but it was a very good work truck.
I remember 318s they were a good motor 😊
@@charliepatton6333 amazing the 360 got same mpg but hauling ability even better had two in vans pulling a camp trailer one 318 one 360
Love how almost all the photos were of different makes, shows how much this douch knows about anything
@@johnplatt8429 when you have an agenda accuracy doesn't matter
Ford never built a pinto pickup. No point in watching this video.
that is why he didn't show them
Different state probably.
@@drueatcer You mean different state of mind? Pinto pickups don't exist!
I agree.
I didn’t think I was that stoned, but I don’t remember a pinto pick up😮
There was no pinto pickup in America
That's what I thought never seen one 😅
I was seriously racking my brain like WOW am I that young I haven't seen one 😂 like nah dont think 🤔 so thats one car you dont forget seein either geez these days that mandella effect ya never know...
They actually did. There's one running around my town. It's like a mini Ranchero. Evidently, they didn't sell many. I talked with the owner, and it wasn't a mod. It came from Ford that way.
Are you kidding? I was in the leasing bus. in the 70s and early 80s. There was never a Pinto wagon from the factory! It's a kit! What bs!!
@@Abbysum1 You must be talking there was never a Ford pinto pickup, Because there where a bunch of pinto Wagons built, they were quite popular. The pickup he showed is some kind of custom.
Narrator talking about a Courier, but the video shows clips of a full sized Ford F100 , with the body style only from 1968 to 1972. Someof the F100 trucks were called Ranger.I owned a 1970 Ford F100 with 8 foot bed.
Nearly all of these pickups were just great!
Calls a 360 a 440 in the lil red express, this guy knows next to nothing about any of these trucks. I grade this an F!
WOW! You certainly are generous with your grading. F? Try Z.
my pinto pickup exploded when a woodpecker pecked on the rear bumper (little known fact : in an attempt the save steel for the burgeoning zeppelin industry , the rear bumpers on all cars from the 70s were made of balsa wood) , but my mustang helicopter , corvette riding mower , and the javelin submarine are still going strong .
Lmao
I had one too, with the 32-liter 1 cylinder 2 stroke!
I saw a Pinto pickup in a junkyard: It was a forklift.
Lmao
Worst pickups? How about anything modern.
My old man used to have a international pickup he loved it 😆 I
They were tough however here in the Adirondacks as with most vehicles they had a short life span due to the salt we pave our roads with in the winter.
Ford never manufacturered a Pinto pickup. Also out of the millions of actual Pinto's only 27 fires according to NTSB.
Did anybody ever write anything about these fires over the years that they would have happened? It seems that it took a long time to alert people about this. The Pinto, however, was always a crappy car, and in quite a few different ways.
Back in the late '60s, when that Corvair blew up, Ralph Nader was all over that case. Just couldn't keep his mouth shut and made many people view the Corvair as a dangerous and badly designed car. It was far better and more innovative than the Pinto, which he didn't seem to say anything about interestingly. At least not when it first hit the market.
@@joegiersher281 I couldn't disagree more. The Pinto in its day was a good car. Ford sold several million of them and they were the top selling compact car of the 1970. The number of Pinto's that actually caught fire was far lower than news outlets reported. Look it up. 27 deaths and 24 injuries. Which was a lower % than most other small cars then, like the Vega,Chevette, Maverick and Datsun B210. These are facts easily accessible online.
Different state probably.
Google it.
Different state ? Google it ? Yes you should so you can get your facts straight !
Maybe the worst video on trucks I've ever seen on U-Tube. Full of just plain lies ( Pinto pickup) and the pictures of engine bays display engines that have nothing to do with the vehicles being shown or what you're talking about.
Oh i guess you havent seen the one with jay lenos oldsi mob isle tore ea nido plus so much more
I don't know where you get your info and yes you are entitled to your own opinion. However you have rather than 13 WORST pickups , 13 pickups much loved in their day and now very popular for restoration. I lived and drove thru this time period nad actually either owned or drove many of these pickups. If I ever want more misinformation I will be sure to watch your channel, but I must say it is not likely.
So many errors i lost count
To the author of this clip .........you are so off base about the information you have here........please take it down!
It's AI clickbait garbage.
The pinto fuel tank exploding g was more myth than reality.
The square body Chevy/GMC trucks are highly sought after in my area
As a Ford man I even like them, they are easy to restore and being manufactured from 1973 until 1987 they're still out there.
Not in my area, you be you.
The J 10! I would kill for a J 10
With the 401 under the hood!
LS6 was not manufactured until 1997 ? How could a 1970 el Camino have one ?
I'll tell you right now that the Ford courier / Mazda was a tough little truck and I had over a dozen work pickups. Most everything else proclaimed in this video is total BS.
The LS6 was a 450 horse power 454 cubic inch big block Chevrolet engine introduced in 1970.
There was a 450 hp 454 called a LS6 long before 1997! The 454 was called LS standing For Long Stroke, The engine had a 4-inch Stroke. The LS engine you talk about LS stands for Long Skirt the Block extends below the center line of the Crank.
@@mylanmiller9656 yes you are correct. The 454 was a big block. I was thinking of the one that GM made from '97-2003 ? This LS6 was a small block.
The little red express is a sought-after truck does segment on pickup trucks not really knew what I was talking about
Ill take any of those trucks , no computers , no modules etc easy to work on , they did have a module for every little stinking thing . I wont own any thing that was built after 2006 ,the new trucks are garbage worthy of the dumpster for the price we pay . dont ask me how I know , I am a mechanic enough said .
This is one of THE $HITTY'S Videos for overall quality i have watched in a LOONG TIME. The audio and video almost never were in time with each other
Ford didn’t build a pickup-truck version of its compact Pinto hatchback. A one-of-a-kind 1980 Ford Pinto pickup is being sold by a collector car dealership.
There may have been a few other custom Pintero's built but NOT a pickup of the 70's! While the 2.8L Cologne V6 was available in the Pinto, neither the Diesel engine shown at 0:55 nor the 2.8 liter GM V6 shown at 0:57 were ever available in the FORD Pinto.
The International Pickups were tough trucks. My Father had a friend who had an International Travelall that he had for towing a good sized camper.
The LUV (,light utiliy vehicles) was a rebadged Isuzu truck
And they were junk. I worked in maintenance for a University. We had a few of them.
As I remember they didn't hold up too well, became ragged out within a short period of time. A local parts house got rid of their Chevy c10 SWB,got two LUV's,they didn't make it year
I'll be happy to buy any Chevy or Ford 60's and 70's
You are right, they will still be running when the new crap will be melted down and made int Hundi's
all lie's
This video has some of the worst production videos I've ever seen. Case in point[when talking about the small Ford Courier, they show a clip of the Ford F-150. Did they not know the difference???
The small trucks obviously didn’t have the cargo space or raw horsepower. They weren’t intended for that. The lower price and gas mileage lured people to them. So why the constant critical comparison?
Hell I’d take any pickup from the 70’s over the city slicker trucks they make now. The manufacturers had a better understanding of what customers needed.
Lol..this channel knows nothing about American cars and trucks..Ford pinto pickup..hshaha...confusing the blazer with a chevy luv..I couldn't watch the rest of this misinformation filled video
Click bait, non sense video for sure.
As I remember both cars and trucks were sorry, that’s why they are valuable now, none are left.
Can’t say I’ve ever seen a pinto pickup
Some bodyshop made one but I don't know how it got on this ridiculous video
Most of these are desirable today. 'nobody wants back' is very very misleading, as many of us would Love to have one of these.
I also can confirm the Pinto was never produced here in the US or overseas. This of course means the producer of this video is making stuff up right out of the gate.
To start with you never was a pinto Vega or gremlin pickup truck made by the manufacturers the next thing is all those small pickup trucks from the early seventies of Ford GM and Chrysler were all Japanese junk and Dodge they never could build a pickup truck not even to this day
I grade this comment a "F".
Japanese junk?
My '74 Power Wagon can beat your dad up. And pretty much any Shivete you own.
And I've owned it for 50 years and 6 months now
How old is your Shivy?.
Ditto!! Dodge has made great trucks, up to recently!! I own a 1986 D150, 360v8, 2wd, 115k, just broke in!! Near mint!! 1991 D150, 318, std cab, 2wd, 100k, old trusty rusty (my wood hauler)! 1996 Dodge, Club cab, 360 V8, 148k, rust free!! My Dodge's, will out last me!!😂👍💪
Sorry but here dodge sucks transmission issues galore electrical gremlins the stupid ballast resistor ect. Gm ford were still running while the dodge got towed to junk yard with 1/3 miles of rest. How many d s from 60 70s do you see ,? I see ford gm of same era daily multiple vehicles still driving
Dodge sucks count the numbers still on road @@Steve-l5v8o
@@KurtfromLaQuintayea the dodge was getting scrapped while ford gm powered on numbers dont lie dodge sucks
This guy must hate ford pickup by sticking the 77 ford pickup on the front of the video picture
Yea, what gives. All 70's Fords were the toughest trucks made.🤷♂️🇺🇸👍
This "guy" is a robot
Who in the hell said the jeep j10 was a truck none else would hand back and if we got them back Chevy would have to buy out jeep or AMC would have to make a come back , because Chrysler couldn't make a dodge or a jeep if they went back to AMC and Daimler blue prints.
Word salad.
Jeep J10? That was a awsome Truck!! I totally disagree with this video! What a waste of time!!
There's 25 minutes I'll never get back
There was never a pinto pickup
My Father had a friend who had an International Travelall for towing his camper. He was always goi g on about the fuel mileage. Then one evening we were going to our camper in Upstate New York and he passed us at 70 mph like we were standing still. I remember that my Father mentioned that maybe the poor fuel mileage was due to his right foot being so heavy.
This video is so full of infactually statements.
There's 20 minutes I'll never get back, what a load of crap!
The original LS6 came out in 1970.
I was doing ok on the video ( never saw a Pinto truck) but I have a 82 bigger brother J20. Those designations were used from 74-87. But these trucks in different designations were available from 1963-1987. Most of these trucks I would definitely own. Yeah, they're not the grocery getters they have now, but they had they're own class and style.
Im surprised that the Chevy convertible truck wasn't in this video the hard top you could take off remember them I do 😁 good views bro!!! Keep up the good work man!!! 💪
Worst trucks, give me a brake. Some may not have been as popular, but seriously GMC Sierra, J10 Jeep, Dodge D150. OK the Luv and Currier maybe, but I had a 1977 Luv in 1982 it did everything it was supposed to do. Handled great, good mpg, fun to drive. P. S 100 mph with the tail gate up and 110 mph with it down.
The 70s is when the big three got greedy and Toyota, Datson, Honda stepped up and people took notice and rest is history.
A slightly flawed look at pickups.
The editor needs a barrage of drug tests and possibly mental evaluation.
Guy knows nothing. Dodge transmission sluggish? Get real. 727 Torque flight tranny was bulletproof. Preferred by many MOPAR drag racers. Love to have any of these real American trucks, including the El camino and Caballero. Can't believe he overlooked the Ford Ranchero.
There was no Pinto pickup built by Ford, the only AMC was a prototype based on the Hornet but nothing came of it.
At least half these i would love to have
I would love to own any of these models
Speak for yourself on this except the FORD which wandered all over the place right from the manufacture. Twin I beam suspension sucked so bad I was pulled over for drunk driving. The trooper took it for a spin & let me go. Damn thing was brand new & was traded off the next day.
I’ve had 5 or 6 Ford F series trucks from a 74 up to 94 and I never had any problems with front suspension and handling issues. I was able to hammer the front end and never had any problem with it. I think maybe you have to pay attention to the road and not trying to get in your girlfriend’s pants.
This guy needs to do more home work as he has no idea what he`s talking about.
And he doesn't know what he is talking about the older pickups are much better the the ones built today
Looking forward to a video covering the almost forgotten competition dump trucks from the sixties and nineties with hydroelectric charged air conditioning compressors powering massive 1.7 liter ventilated piston seven cylinders B-8 engines and the upcoming title “School busses of the 70s that nobody wants back.”
Yeah I can see where there would be malcontent without a manual gearbox that is a huge issue that I have with Trucks in 2024 me I’m old school I use to drive Semi Tractor Trailers with 10 speeds & 13 speeds & 12 speed maxi torque gear box
Pickup trucks were a cheap vehicle in the 60 and 70s.
Dammit. Now in want to build a pinto pickup?😅
I been wanting to build one since I was a kid, my conception is take a wagon and cut it down then set it up on a bronco frame. Yes I'm a redneck hillbilly.
Wish I had my 76 ford 150 back plus my chevy
If the pinto truck was really a thing you would have more than one picture of one someone probably slapped together in their driveway. The Luv was a piece of crap they literally were rusting during shipping to the dealer.
Ford Courier was a Datsun, the Ranger was rebadged as the B2000
Ford Courier was a Mazda, Ford owned 49 % of Mazda back in the 1970s!
I would love to have an old Chevy Luv diesel right now !! Great little trucks.
Ford couriers had 1.8 liter 4 cyl. Not a 2.0...most the videos were wrong too. 😮
WTF I would love to have a Dodge Warlock. I found one with 4x4 with a 360.
Agree!. or most of these, including the GMC Sprint/El camino.
The luv was rotted out by three years. If they made it that long
I remember most vehicles back then would get rusty sitting on r dealership lot waiting to be sold.
One of the worst videos I've seen about pickup trucks.....
I would like have one of each
Where the hell do you guys get your facts . Do some research before you go spouting facts . There is so much wrong info in this video it is ridiculous !
Narrator probably is 'all in' on new electric pickups. These 70s trucks have much market appeal and even value.
The picture of a 2.8 is from an 80’s GM
This video is not very accurate. Some of these trucks were the best, not worst! The guy also doesn't post the correct pictures.
Where is the 1970 pickup that is featured in this video that is Istope Lemon green which is the color from the 2001 VW? We built that pickup from the ground up. We took it all apart sanded, painted and had the interior done. We rebuilt the motor too. No one could miss the pickup because of the color but it was a fun pickup to have. Just wondering where you had found that truck. We wish we had never sold it.
1972 4x4 ford f100 gemmer worm and roller steering is the grail of piss poor engineering.
There were plenty of things wrong with the 70's, that's why ee didn't stay there.
My father had a Chevy Luv
Why would anyone Want a Pickup Truck, Without an 8 foot Bed ???
Non - Work Truck. Ha !
Id take any of them except the Pinto
Not ever seeing a pinto pickup that would be my first choice. I'd bet I would be the only person in my town to have one, while you couldn't haul much hay on the back I think it would be a pretty cool grocery getter on the weekends.
I never had any interest in the foreign pickups, but I'd rather have any of the 4×4 versions of the pickup trucks from the 70s over any new truck. Hard to beat a big block Powerwagon. This video is full of $hit. The only people who got a Little Red Express truck with a 440 were a handful of Executives from Chrysler. The production model only had a 360.
Every one loves the 77 f series this is all ready a waste of time
The chevy Luv , the Mazda rotory along with the Ford courier were the worst , junky trucks imported into the USA in the 70s .
However , making points about cars as trucks ... such as US cars with the bed such as the GMC Caballero isn't exactly fair as these vehicals were a Sport vehical with car like ride and able to haul a load if needed . They were not trucks . For the record, The Jeep J10 and J20 now are very popular with restores and Jeep enthusiasts in many countries , also built in Argentina under IKA . Good video , but not really trucks Noone wants anymore as the video click baits
This Is disinformation they talk about a chevy luv but show pictures of 72 Cheyenne 4x4 with a 402 big block what are they trying to do to the young minds of up and coming motorheads
Dodge never built a good truck since 1957, Like their cars the Trucks were jam cans.
Is this supposed to be a joke? I'm quite confused.
Your comparing apples to oranges.
Too much to even address 👎🏻
Learn your facts before speaking on a subject you obviously know nothing about.
This video is full of mistakes and this person knows nothing about vehicles.
I had an 83 D150, transmission failed
I had an 82 D150. Nothing failed.
Remember kids .. downvote hot garbage.
Wrong pictures trucks that do not exist, Lies Lies
Don't know what you are smoking but whatever it is change it as usual you have no idea what you are talking about
you also donnot know your history on these trucks your information is wrong nice try dude go back to school
you donnot know crap about these trucks the dodge full size pick up truck was a great truck they were a work horse like jeep that was a pile of crap same as ford
But its coool
This guy is very confused
Ford never made pinto p,/u on the cover you show a dent side Ford one of the best trucks made
All be like usual
