I have no husband, Ive never married, I have no children, I rent, and I have no money. But I'm happy. I lived and worked in DE for 3 years, there I did experience hopelessness in others more than ever before, the consumerism destroyed my soul a little, and I ended up hightailing it back downundah! The drugs, homelessness, racism and situation burdened my soul, I was living in the hood, and experienced a lot. I'm in a small town now of 750 people, in a valley below the mountains. I think the environment has a lot to do to with our hope, and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs should be turned upside down an the environment added to the very top. I so look forward daily to your intelligent, thoughtful, educating, posts, thank you for sharing as you do. As I'm newish here, I'd also like to acknowledge your beautiful care of your wife, and empathise with such a big loss, and the bravery needed, hugs from the land of the roo.

We have ranges which look like your Yosemite and we bike up to stunning summits. My job is as humble as you can get - delivering circular newspapers (with adverts inside). I got this old bike a towbar and just bought a nice trailer - I can carry 300 papers a time! :) I have no desire ever to work in an office among backstabbing colleagues and political fights I used to have. I have seen that spark of light in people's eyes not be there anymore enough times to know what it means. It shakes me to my core every time I see this now. I may sometimes be heading in that direction along with them without realizing it at all until I notice it gone or going fast in others. Whenever I do notice this now, I have to do everything I possibly can to get them to understand the importance of making sure to never let that go out. It is literally the thing that is our will to continue to live and keep breathing. In our darkest hour, we must take measures to be sure that light never goes cold and dark. Even if it is the smallest of the tinyest pitiful little spark of hope, we are capable of picking ourselves up again, continuing to help each other eventually smile again. People can't live without it. You will literally, actually die if you give this up and let it completely go out. I plea to God to entervien to help people find the strength they need to keep hope alive so they don't leaver the rest of us hear alone in this world, without them.

I see these NPC people who have no spark in there eyes. They seem to be without the spark of hope. My granddaughter calls them filler people. She is just 16 years old and sees it. We try to stay away from these people because they can be contagious. They spread hopelessness and fear. It is very, very sad we have come to this.

I read The Host in middle school. In the book the aliens were called souls and they considered themselves benevolent beings saving the host. It was basically a romance story of a woman fostering love for yourself or another completely through your own soul rather than though a parasite...

The most powerful technology is the idea of hope. A knife is very useful. With a knife, you can fashion a hatchet. With a hatchet, you can construct a shelter and and traps to catch game. But, without hope, no amount of gear will help you survive.

@@redpillnibbler4423 You can carve a piece of hardwood into an axe-head, handle and cordage with a knife and split timber bamboo easily. Necessity is the mother of all invention.
If you've ever camped in a place like Florida, you know that, there are very few rocks that are suitable for making an axe-head. Also, if you have access to rocks, you don't need a knife, just your hands and the knowledge of how to fracture the material properly. 🌱
