    Wow it’s rare to see a mk4 that’s didn’t get shitted out by a bad owner! Good job building this one cleanly!

    I am currently looking far a 1.8t for my son as his first car, well my car but he will be on the insurance so he can learn manual (my main car is a VW Pasatt dsg auto).
    He will learn in it with me as his Instructor and use it occasionally after passing his test before getting his own car.
    After that I'm going full road legal track/rally prepared, weld in cage plumbed extinguisher perspex race windows, everything really.
    I'm lucky I am old at 47, it is old in terms of insurance 500hp cars are roughly £500 to insure for the year for me (the best cover aswel).
    Your build reminds me of my first GTI a 1982 mk1 gti 1.6 very late in the 1.6 production, I did different bits on it until it was an absolute beast I would leave my brother in his modified g60 rally.
    But I had a full engine build and super light

      That’s awesome that your son will be getting a GTI for his first car. Those plans for a track/rally spec GTI are going to be wicked. I’m sure you and him will love the build process and bonding time !

    I had a MK4 GTI before I upgraded to my MK4.:R32 (best VW ever!). Built up my GTI and my .:R32 and I hit all the SoCal tracks, AutoX, and canyon carve on the regular.... You need a rear chassis strut brace (unibrace, HPA -I have the HPA, EuroSport ect all the same) along with a 25mm rear antisway bar. Makes the MK4 chassis rotate in the corners way better. That will allow you to move your apex point deeper into a corner and thus carry more speed. I know you like the stock look but your giving up a ton of performance by not having lighter weight wheels like RPF1, OZ etc... I have Volk CE28Ns 18X8.5 on my .:R that only weigh 16 pounds! Wow the acceleration, breaking and handling I gained maximize all the other goodies I have in my .:R32. Plus get a battery relocation kit out of a MKV and throw the batt in the boot. Ohhhhhh I got much much more you can do to make that thing hum!!! Holla, plus if you see me we can hang....

    Damn finally someone who knows how to use a camera you can see everything clearly even when you're filming underneath of the car, your filming nice and smooth not all shaky like a lot of these videos out there and your audio is great too, by the way really nice golf I work on a lot of VW's my self I got 4 1.8t jetta's from 01 to 03 an 06 tdi Jetta turbo diesel, and I have a 98 Jetta I took out the weak 2.0 and put in 1.8 turbo out of an 03 Jetta Wolfsburg edition I had to modify the motor mounts, I suck with electrical so I took out the wire harness and put in my 98 Jetta even the dashboard went into my little 98, anyway great video and a fuckin bad ass ride you got, keep on building

    You’ve got Soooo much money into the supporting mods on this car, I went with ie drop in rifled rods and apr head studs with other mods but you can go maxspeeding I know that brand isn’t the best but a lot of guys are running those rods with no problems and do some drop in rods for super cheap. I think it would be worth it, slap on a gt30 and get your 350 to 400ho to the wheel so you can really take advantage of all your suspension and still keep it super reliable

    • @yolowrue2582

    Really clean build man! What issues did you have with Forge 008 DV? I just switched to a Forge DV a few months back and it's been great so far on my 1.8t. I think they suggest lubing the piston ever 10K miles though. I might look into the 034 you suggested but really like my Forge for now.

    • @yolowrue2582
      @yolowrue2582  Месяц назад

      Sorry for the late response, but issue was the piston would just give out. As if there was no spring load in it. I mean it’s fine if your car is stock or maybe stage 1-2? But I kept going through them within months. Decided to go 034 billet diverter and it hasn’t failed. Every 10k miles is a good service interval but when the diverter valve/blowoff would die before 10k miles I just gave up on them. As long as they last for you!

    • @BOOSTEDDUDE
      @BOOSTEDDUDE Месяц назад +1

      @@yolowrue2582 Oh wow, ok. I have probably about 10K on mine now and it's been great so far! I'll probably maintenance it soon though. I'm not stock and push about 20 psi on the medium spring that's good for upto 24psi I think.

    • @yolowrue2582

      Yes, oem GTI control arms are compatible with the JUST tubular subframe. Practically every control arm in the market will fit. The subframe allows you to use GTI sway bar or the r32/tt sway bar and has attachments to bolt in.

    Question,
    Why didn’t you install a reservoir system of coilovers. Far better for track days due to the system being able to maintain pressure when oil gets hot. Just a thought.

    • @yolowrue2582
      @yolowrue2582  Год назад +1

      The car was a daily driver for 5 years before it was garaged. When I installed the coilovers I was 19 and I didn’t have the money to buy expensive coils. So I went with coilovers that were made with bilstein internals. Recently bought riaction coilovers for the track but just blew the motor. Check out new video. Thanks for watching.

    • @yolowrue2582
      @yolowrue2582  Год назад

      Hey! The top strut mount is not too stiff. You will hardly tell the difference. I recommend poly bushings for all daily drivers. The car won’t rattle, it’ll just drive a bit better.

    • @yolowrue2582
      @yolowrue2582  Год назад

      Depends on your goals for the car, basic stage 2 set up is super common and easy to turn back to stock if you decide to sell it. If you do not have a tune, I recommend getting the car tuned so it can make power with those mods you have.
