You could focus more on the commentating side of your gameplay making it funnier rather than for pro gameplay

There's a niche for that. I'm subbed to a guy who makes a point of being terrible at every game he plays. He always does ridiculous things in the games and the commentary makes it hilarious.
Just start. Do your thing, play up your strengths. Over time you'll get a feel for what works best for you.

every few months i come back to this video and tell myself “i’ll get an Elgato when i make money” but every time i do make money i never buy one. that’s the only way i’ll be able to record gameplay since i play on xbox. i hope i stick with this and get one next time i make enough. :)

You can record with DVR too, but you should have your xbox record the gameplay and then it will be sent to any external USB 3.0 drive.
Don’t buy an Elgate save up for a pc trust me I recently switched over to PC and the amount of better features is insane. Mods are so much fun to play and there’s a wider variety of games
If you get a app called power director you can download your clips through xbox app to your phone then you can record you audio while your playing with an audio recorder and then all you have to do is line up the clips with the audio and you can also do face cam if you record your face with your phone and the videos come out pretty good if you dont believe me look at one of my videos if you wanna see the quality

Used screen recoreder on my Ps4 and then put it all on premier pro on my laptop to edit. At the moment just do pack openings and fut drafts. Hope this helps

I started my gaming channel with playing Kingdom Hearts. It's been a journey with editing for sure and I learned a bit of the rules for streaming it that Square Enix had in place.

Hey nick I know I'm watching this vid quite late but I just never seem to get any views not subs been on RUclips for about 2-3 years now only 30 something subs
Your videos are long and unedited, not to mention the lack of good titles and thumbnails. Unless you deleted a bunch of your old vids, it says your first upload was from eight months ago. RUclips is not easy. I would suggest recording your videos (as opposed to streaming), at least editing out the boring parts and if you get good enough, edit in some text and maybe some images, then come up with a creative title and thumbnail that will catch people’s attention. It takes time dude. You just gotta keep going until after some time you are really good and then you’ll start to rake in more views and then more subs.
