- Piers Morgan Uncensored is joined by oceanographer Dr David Gallo, friend of explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Fred Hagen, and submersible expert William Kohnen to discuss the latest on the missing 'Titan' submersible as recent reports suggest there are reports of 'banging' noises being heard from the depths of the sea.
David Gallo explains that he was initially skeptical of the reports of the banging noises - but admits that the sources that reported them are "very credible" and so now he is more hopeful and optimistic of a potential rescue.

Titanic was a cautionary tale of how arrogance, hubris and lack of safety regulations killed many people. And it's these same things that led to this tragedy.
Exactly.. some want to call it irony.. when it needs to be seen as another lesson, apparently for the rich…
People really need to stop deeming these man made things as “unsinkable” or “destructible”… nature is always gonna remind us who depends on who..
I hope they can make it back….
Wise words
Thats not truth; many other things happened...perfect storm...life is dangerous and not perfect. You could get out of your house and be run over on your way to wherever... I hope they found them. 🌠
No it wasn't
@@sunflower-oo1ff what other things happened to make it a perfect storm ? All we know for now is that the signal cut. For all we know they could be at the surface right now.
I don't think people are calling out rush for being a visionary for deep ocean exploration, they are calling him out for his lack of judgement in delpoying uncertified tech for commercial use and endangering others.
A father has taken his 19 year old son down there . He must be feeling devastated that he's endangered his son . Hindsight is a wonderful think . Some hope left 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Exactly.
How is he a visionary?🙂 By ignoring engineering principles and ignoring the concerns of his former employee and ignoring the regulatory body of engineers who sent him a letter citing each item of his sub that did not meet regulatory requirements? Including the XBox controller? The sub as a whole did not meet requirements. The best part is the Titan owner who is now trapped down there boasting that he did not want to , " hire a bunch of 50yr old whhyte guys," to design the sub. Of course not. Go hire diverse flakes.
True
They probably did not have time to second guess themselves if the submersible imploded. They had plenty of warnings and signed off on the risks. I would rather get launched into space on one of the several civilian vehicles then get in one of these things.
Piers, the duscussion you had with your guests was incredibly empathetic, kind and clear. Other news outlets are rather ignorant and insensitive to this sad situation, but in my opinion, you all brought a lot of humanity to this tragic issue.

And the young thai football team trapped in that cave that was filling with water.
The 4 children that survived the Amazon jungle is the most amazing survival story I've ever heard of
It's impossible to get to them.
The vessel has 7 possibilities to resurface, such as when the electricity fails. But it didn't show up. Because of this, I think there are mainly two scenarios what happened. The ship couldn't withstand the pressure and imploded or it's stuck somewhere. Stuck in the Titanic or craters on the sea floor... and that's why it doesn't reach the surface. I'm always for hope, but these people are 99.9% dead. A quick death from implosion, or a slow and painful death from lack of oxygen. Even if the vessel hasn't imploded and they locate it, it's already too late to save them. There's no equipment that would be able to recover this vessel at such a depth in time. I feel sorry for the families and the passengers. Especially for the 19-year-old boy who unlike all the other passengers was too young to make a mature decision to board this ship. The Ceo that fired the manager that warned him back in 2018 because of security issues... I have no words for his behavior.

@@Luke-kp1pxyes..
I've been interested in the Titanic since I'd first watched the 1950's film. I was convinced while watching this movie that the Titanic was long enough to hit the bottom with part of it sticking up as I had no perception of how deep the ocean really is. A few days after watching it I went to the library and borrowed Robert Ballard's book for kids that goes into the tragedy and the discovery of the wreck in 1985. The book has a few drawings that try to demonstrate how far down she is and just the illustration was enough to freak me out. The blackness in those 80's photographs of the boilers, the debris field, the railings, and understanding that no sunlight reaches that depth. The only aspect that later frightened me more was learning that those two and a half miles are almost shallow when compared to places like the Mariana Trench. It apparently takes something like four or five hours to free fall from the surface to where she is and, no. Absolutely not. As much as I love reading about and watching things about the Titanic, I could never be persuaded to visit her. The claustrophobia, the depth, the emotionally charged site... No.
1958 film : A Night To Remember. . In case anyone wants to watch it.
That is a great description of the underwater.
People forget that she js a GRAVE site. I don't think it should ever be a tourist attraction. And I think this would have the survivors of Titanic rolling in their graves.
LEAVE. IT. ALONE!
Your comment is really informative. Thank you.
A very eloquent comment and I agree with you. The remains of the Titanic should never have been allowed to become an attraction. I hope a valuable lesson is learned here, regardless of the outcome and Titanic can rest in peace in future.

My heartfelt prayers go out to all those trapped/lost in that submersible… my hope is that they are rescued and not retrieved. 💕 No monetary expense is too great to save a life, foolhardy endeavour or not…
The problem is there are so many lives which could be saved and buoyed up by resources. This was a uniquely talented group, and it is so sad, but not sure why throwing unlimited resources at people who signed up for the risk makes too much sense, especially when it risks others’ lives searching for them, and unfortunately they are not alive.

Agree. He’s talking about this like they are solving the world hunger problem or something
I can say that they are searching extra for these rich men. The reason I say this is because a low income building in Iowa had a crumbling infrastructure and some of it fell. The city and federal officials decided after a day and a half to demolish it. Not knowing if it was empty. A few hours before they made the press conference a lady was spotted ALIVE and stuck. Regarding the comment about the Wright Brothers, the Wrights did not take up paying passengers on an exploratory flight to finance their discoveries. Big difference. This sub was exploring a well documented shipwreck, not navigating an ocean valley.

If communication was lost just before this point it could be possible that they crashed into the ocean floor and got stuck in mud, or even into the wreck itself.
Usually not the biggest fan with the way you approach things. But you are doing an absolute amazing job updating us and bringing on the best people to listen too. Thanks Piers
Yawn. You idiots are so easily manipulated.
The concerns for not enough life boats for titanic and now the safety issue over the window being overlooked is quite eerie.
Did he not hit the nail on the head with the issue of the window 😮
I do not think that Titanic should be exploited as a tourist attraction. People forget that it is a literal underwater graveyard for 1500+ people. I think it should be limited to scientific and research exploration
@@khernandez46 I agree!!
It's nature saying don't disrespect me
Safety first!
It's a Titanic mistake not to have tested safety measures
Piers, Great interview, and your sensitivity and respect you show is amazing.
To Fred Hagen: I think it’s just fine if Stockton wants to go deeper, faster, whatever, in a tiny sub. It’s the fact that Stockton is selling his version of risk to unsuspecting people that is at issue. That’s what a “tourist” is, a person who has little knowledge of what “ride” he has chosen to ride, and wants to enjoy a little of this and a little of that, usually not in familiar surroundings, without worrying about anything. A tiny sub is a place where big worries can happen, much bigger than $250,000 per person, and I believe that Stockton knew this, and was irresponsible offering his version of risk to those who knew nothing about what they were getting into. NO KUDOS FOR STOCKTON ! You don’t get a pass for being irresponsible just because the government doesn’t pay for the research you think the government should pay for. FYI: The Wright Brothers weren’t selling tourist spots in their first plane.
The Wright brothers financed themselves and didn't rely on investors.
I genuinely believe this guy wants to make a safer submersible but he needs to keep the investors happy so he can carry on.
No private investor would give him money to create safe submersibles just for the sake of it.
There needs to be an actual business in place.
The problem is we have people who know nothing about the ocean, nothing about submersible and nothing about business giving their opinion.
Tourists assume all the necessary measures have been taken and everything has been thoroughly checked.
We take a level of risk when we fly with a company but we also expect them to do due diligence and thorough checks before flying as a responsible company. Rush was so irresponsible and his hubris was extraordinary. Thought he was more clever than anyone else. Joking about using a pc controller and camping lights.
You need dedicated people who understand the value of safety measures and not irresponsible risk takers!!
Thank you yes agree
Well said.

Finding the submersible is one thing.....connecting to it and bringing it to the surface in the required amount of time is quite the other.
Hopeful??? Insane! I've spent months in those waters, to the North Pole & back. The average human has NO IDEA how inhospitable those waters are, at depth. Frigid, cold, dark, damp, etc is a total understatement!!! RIP

The people who paid for this trip signed waivers indicating that death was possible during this exploration. I just wonder if they knew what could actually go wrong; especially the man who brought his teenage son with him. RIP all onboard.

They may have signed waivers but it doesn't sound like it was an informed decision with all these safety concerns glossed over by the CEO 🤷♂️
Death waivers are signed pretty willy nilly on adventures. I've signed a lot of them just for 4x4 rides, zip lining, etc on cruises.
@SirenaSpades exactly I've signed pretty much a handful of death wavers for scuba diving, helicopter riding, zip lining and even in school trips most of the times they actually care for your safety unlike rush...

Nah......the US navy rescued a sub in simular depths back in the 1960s. Pretty sure the technology is slightly more sophisticated these days bruh.
@@Scooby1984
The deepest underwater rescue ever accomplished, officially, was that of the commercial submarine Pisces III, off the coast of Ireland in 1973.
On April 10, 1963, the USS Thresher, an atomic submarine, sinks in the Atlantic Ocean, killing the entire crew. One hundred and twenty-nine sailors and civilians were lost when the sub unexpectedly plunged to the sea floor roughly 300 miles off the coast of New England. Now mind that Thresher's remains were located about 8,400 feet below the surface on the sea floor. For this new case we are talking about 12,500/15,000 feet as the Titanic wreck is lying at 12,500 feet below the surface on the sea floor.
Also, USS Thresher sank roughly 300 miles off the coast of New England. The search of this vessel is being expanded. Aircraft and ships, as well as remotely operated vehicles, are combing around 10,000 sq miles of ocean.

The first three have valid input but the engineers comments standout the most. The man said & wrote a letter saying the capsule was unsafe. He was trying to save lives & here we are.
Ya but why did he have a hard time answering the question direct? He never really answered the question.
He wrote the letter in 2018. And he didn't make any comment on whether they made changes to the submersible since then.

“Democratize the depths”
Um, no. Stockton Rush wanted to start a dive club for millionaire and billionaires. Full stop.
Now he set innovation back.
sadly, with private enterprise, this is often how it begins. Funding is extremely hard to get in the beginning so they must unfortunately give their focus to customers who have money that can fund further development. The man who made the statement on democratizing the depths even clarified that the funding should be government derived, but that's sadly not the case.
Exactly.

Apart from the last speaker , that was just a group wank trying to justify a blllionaires folly in the name of “ exploration “…total bullshit
This wasn’t ocean exploration. There are thousands of titanic pictures to view. This was $250,000 a ticket tourism. Nothing was ground breaking with his submersible other than it was a back yard built death trap. The lights and one switch inside the entire sub was purchased at camper world. Other parts were from Home Depot. The craft was controlled by a gaming controller. If they were floating on the surface miles away they are bolted in and cannot open a hatch! Death trap! That being said, I will continue to pray for all aboard. Just terrible 😞
I wish very much for these folks to make it safely back up to the surface; but please, stop describing this as a scientific, deep-sea mission. They were not collecting samples from hydrothermal vents to assess sulfuric concentrations, for instance. They were going to those depths exclusively to view the Titanic as tourists. I mean, if not, where do we draw the line? Can every-day citizens start building their own airplanes to explore the stratosphere?
Yes you can! This is what the billionaires did wrong, now we are going to save them!!
If ordinary citizens didn't try things we wouldn't be driving cars or flying in airplanes. The government didn't create these things.

Dive to Survive.
If the banging noise happened every half hour it is probably the people in the sub. There is a high chance they are all alive. Locating them on time, that is the huge challenge because they have hours left before running out of oxygen.
They haven't even analyzed if the noises were human made or not. There are also a lot of ships in the area making a lot of noises.
@@BadBrucey the noises were made every 30 minutes which is normal protocol for missing submarines so that they know its intelligent life and not another noise the ocean is making. however, the US coast guard did inform that they were not sure if it was actually 30 mins so it may have been fake news. Even if they do found out it is them down there, they only have 10 hours of oxygen left which is not nearly enough time to rescue them alive unfortunately :(
Noise thing makes no sense. They were almost 2 miles down when they disappeared. If they were stuck on the bottom they could set off a nuke and no one would probably know. If ships safety mechanisms had kicked in and they had floated to the top they would have most likely been found by now. Lastly, I'm not sure it would make sense to be banging on the walls or windows of a highly pressurized vessel that you have no ability to open from the inside.
And it seems like they are at a depth where few if any other craft can reach
I'd bang away my last few moments
This was a really amazing conversation. So cool hearing the insiders scoop on how it all works.
