Very creative performance.....there is a difference between art & entertainment this is real art - entertainers are a dime a dozen however these guys come around once in a blue moon and when they're gone they're gone for good -
The main rhythms on the bass strings feels like you are sailing in a calm, open ocean with waves gently pushing you up and down, ringing back and forth, almost like the pendulum on a grandfather clock. while the occasional tapping harmonics hit straight to your soul like a holy bell. It is amazing how close it feels to the original - hauntingly beautiful. One can only cover like this when they are in sync with the composer's mind. Both Sakamoto and Kotaro are brilliant artists!
Just moves me every time I listen to this, you sir are a very talented man and I think the amount of views means that there is a lot of people who have missed out on one of the most talented people EVER
Bin schwer beeindruckt!
I've been Playing for 35 years off and on, I thought I was making progress. Then I saw this. Thankyou for showing me that I need to live to 130. I'm giving up the cigarettes now. Amazing Sir, really Amazing. I have a long way to go :-)
How can he play every instrument in an orchestra on a single guitar? Near the top of my bucket list in life is to learn this piece in his style as well as the Kaori Muraji version.
i love this song but This is totally awesome and very beautifully done...the wood really produce a great sound that make me chill when heard it...totally amazing...so haunting...Kotaro Oshio , great!
@Artimoi18 I think you froze and stopped counting lol, I think it was four but you're freaking right! I look like someone with a disability trying to flick the table and do it. That was amazing!
Never ever shave your face whilst listening to this song I did that mistake and i almost cut miself when the part where kotaro is doing this three finger guitar drum stroke because immiediatly i had to smile so hard :D Absolutly love his vibes
There was another live performance of this that’s way better. It’s just him under a spotlight. And gets strobey during the fast part. Wish I can find that again.
I first saw your tutorials before this whole version. I must say technically it's quite an achievement you did and very well arranged and played, but... to be honest I am not so thrilled by the 'dark' sound it is produced by your guitar. I can not used to this version compared to the original piano version... Nevertheless a great job you did! Cheers, Nick
I always find it so odd to watch great fingerstyle players hammer on with the right hand and it looks like they're barely even touching the fretboard. When I know that they must be pushing down hard because otherwise, there would obviously be buzzing...

The guitar does not make a sound that he has not anticipated and used... definately a master of the accoustic. Beautiful.

Beautifully done and the technique so reminds me of the late great Michael Hedges.
My guitar is now a coffee table... Thank you very much, Mr Oshio.
Sounds so out of this world... amazing.

Very late comment! But just for anyone else reading, it’s actually four fingers.

"The Guitar is a little Orchestra"
-Andrés Segovia
No Kotaro Oshio?
Simply fantastic...
Beautiful
great, talent guy, i admire you
This is beautiful.
I play this loudly and sit at the window with the guitar in my hands. My neighbors think I'm an aged and reclusive old musical genius. Sweet.
Best cover on youtube Period! Stated by me on 202105 29,
No one plays this version better than he himself...

Hello i'm from future... 😁
Fantastic cover !
Amazing ! Awesome !!!
your right on the feeling, but the song is actually in reffrence to a 1980s movie about a japanese internment camp and the allied prisoners inside.
there's also tap harmonics and pinch harmonics, i can do them but not very easily as part of a piece of music
Pretty amazing
very nice interpretation

His hands are FUCKING HUGE
@drb12344 lol, actually this song is the main soundtrack of a movie of the same name.
A pretty bad movie in my opinion, but the song is great.
Is he Kotaro Oshio
I always find it so odd to watch great fingerstyle players hammer on with the right hand and it looks like they're barely even touching the fretboard. When I know that they must be pushing down hard because otherwise, there would obviously be buzzing...
Which part, man? I think what you meant not the hammer on, but it's the slap/tap harmonic, which look like they barely touch the fretboard.
