I just found a forgotten ‘87 mc-ss and was wondering what problems to expect with doing a swap like this. I also noticed that slick manual shifter in the console. Any advice would be great.

I did a LT1/Lt4 swap because it physically bolts in place of the original small block. Same motor mounts and exhaust. I used the cooling system from a lt1 fbody, fuel lines from a 90s Bbody and shortened them A grand national fuel tank because it bolts in place and has baffles for the fuel injection. there's a company out there that makes the bracket so you ac compressor stays in the same place. The t56 shifter fits perfectly in the console and i adapted a 3rd gen fbody shifter plate and boot and put it over the original monte carlo center console.

You uploaded this on my birthday lol. Did you have to do a frame notch to fit the 285's? I'm fixin to start working on my 87 T-top Gold Edition SS car and want to run 285 or 275's I almost want to build it like a track car and run 275's all the way around but, I'm not sure on that yet just something I've been kicking around in my head.

No notching necessary for 285s as long as you have the correct backspacing. I purchased the wheels 20 years ago so i don't remember the exact backspacing.
