    My friend you made me a hero
    I’ve been waging chemical warfare on the things down here in Florida for years ( I used to leave them alone and they left me alone but my wife blew up our peace agreement a few years ago and it’s been hell) I watched your video today at 3pm and by 4pm the war is over! I have done this with mosquitoes. It works. Insects have 3 breathing holes on each side of their body/Thorax. The soap blocks the holes and the critters suffocate 😉.

    • @hjc4604
      @hjc4604 Месяц назад +2

      Actually it breaks the surface tension and allows the water to enter their breathing holes so they drown. Like when you drop dish soap onto water that has an oily sheen an all the oil drops go to the edges.

    Long list of uses for Dawn, it's one of the few products that I only buy the Dawn brand name, it just seems to out perform all the other detergent options.
    One thing to add, if your mixture is extra extra soapy, you may want to give it a rinse later on with clean water. The detergent sitting on paint or on some coatings for an extended amount of time can soften or break it down.

    That's one I never heard of, but it sounds like a good use since it works. They say Dawn has a million uses and I guess they're right. One thing I recently tried that I heard about using it for is to put a little bit in my windshield washer fluid in my car to help it clean better and it works there too. You just have to make sure that you put enough, but also not too much either.

    yes, knew about this (about 2 yrs ago) but from watching videos like yours. another good way to use this method is try it with a car foaming bottle with your pressure washer set to max foam if you have some good sized nest fully built as this can shoot a good 20 feet keeping you safe and the foam is soo thick they dont have a chance :)

      There are very fine screens or filters in your sprayer, some where.
      A good thing would be to find some dielectric grease ( because it is safe on rubber o-rings ) and the light weight Teflon plumbers tape.
      Take your sprayer apart, give all the parts a wash, check out those screens.
      On the pump part, see if you can take that apart also, when you pop it back together a bit of grease on the o-ring in there insures you can make full pressure.
      Every o-ring needs a touch of grease and every thread a wrap of plumbers tape.
      "She" will be better than new when your done.
      If you spray pesticides or herbicides wear nitrite glove and happy spraying.

    Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) or sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) is the active ingredient in Dawn. It has a 'surfactant' quality that causes the liquid to cover the breathing surfaces of the insect, thereby suffocating it. There are a bunch of other things, including perfumes, in Dawn that would have me looking for similar, but different products to use.

    A spray bottle of Lysol cleaning liquid works great too. Normally wasp don’t bother you if you don’t bother them. Hornets , on the other hand, will attack and chase you down as you run away. Bees are occupied with suppling the nest with food for the queen and larvae. I had a wasp nest under the hood of my lawnmower and never had a problem when mowing the lawn. When I was done and parked my mower, the waiting wasps would fly over and under my mower hood to their nest.

    I did know this would work, but I had one that was up inside a location I couldn't see until one flew out when I walked by. I hooked up my pressure washer and a foam cannon on the wand. It basically gave them a foam bath which kept them from flying out and killed the nest at the same time. I then changed the tip of the wand to a typical sprayer tip and shot the paper wasp nest out with pressure.
    Hint: An old Windex Spray Bottle works fine as long as you can spray up close and the nest is just getting started with 3-5 Wasps. I've been using that for the past week, and so far no stings just plenty of Wasp Corpses.
    Hint 2: If they are just searching for a place to nest you can swat at them and they will not sting you. They are territorial insects and only attack when you attack their homes, so don't let them get started...Kind of like humans.

    Used non anti-microbial Palmolive/Dawn for years, and especially in the garden, great for the freaking squash bugs, and many other bugs with an exoskeleton . Once it dries it's worthless, so a long lasting barrier insect treatment like Ortho Home Defense is excellent for household pests. Been using both for years and Ortho can last for 1.5 years indoors. I usually spray my own house yearly but In laws ,I have gone longer. But warning, do not spray any plants in the summer with sun beating down, you can/will burn plants/grass etc......Even plain water can burn your plants and grass in mid summer and full sun.

    I did not know it would do that but now I will use it, but I did know this for black mold. You can use white vinegar down dish soap and spray it and it’ll kill the mold a little bit of water a little bit of warm water, I think yeah.
    And if you want to get rid of the little roach bugs that most people call water bugs in the east Tennessee, you can use. I have gallon white vinegar spray bottle now like you had to pump up and dish soap, but and cinnamon ground cinnamon mix it up in it spray around and it’ll get rid of them water bugs , oh something like a floor cleaning soap like mop and soap or mop floor

    Works even better if you use a lawn fertilizer sprayer attached to a hose. Cut the plastic end off so it sprays a long stream put about an inch off soap in the bottom fill the rest with water. Turn to highest fertilizer setting spray on... Sprays 20 feet or farther depending upon water pressure. Have to use this doing construction work around horses and cattle..

    Soap acts as a Surfactant, it makes the water tension too slippery and the wasps will drown in a 5 gallon bucket filled with soapy water because they can’t stand on the water and drink it

    Neat tip. Extra tip, wait till evening/night and all the wasps will be on the nest and mostly out of it.

  • @joshua646646
    @joshua646646 Месяц назад +1

    It doesn’t have to be Dawn. It’s expensive compared to the cheap stuff. You can use any liquid soap. You can use this mixture on any insect with an exoskeleton. Such as wasp,ants,roaches,crickets, beetles or any insect with a hard body.

      110% correct. Had to work 7 straight nights so I had to take care of these so the kids could get back to playing as they usually do. But yes, absolutely wait till the dark to get them all

    I use this on a smaller scale for insects inside the house. I have a spray bottle full of eater and Dawn. I've used it on ants and stray flying insects that resemble wasps but I don't think they sre. Works every time.

    I've used this for a couple of years now. I don't worry about pets or kids getting into the spray. I also don't have to try to be super frugal with the spray. Put half a gallon on, it costs a penny.

    Dawn and water mix also works for controlling an overpopulation of the ol daddy long legs. I live in the woods and had a crap ton of em. They'll slowly repopulate in a couple months then do it again. No gloves or mess or having to think about animals or other unintended "issues".

    We always got nests under our propane tank lid. I spray inside the lid with soapy water (Dawn) and the soap residue keeps them from building there.
