  • 3 days and 2 nights in the Ouachita National Forest in Arkansas in May 2023.
We started the Eagle Rock Loop hike at Little Missouri Falls and hiked counterclockwise.
This is our experience as average hikers.
    I hope you enjoy.
All footage shot on iPhone 11 regular camera app 1080p 30fps. Edited in iMovie on iPad.

Great video. I enjoyed the view from the Eagle Rock Vista. I plan to camp there next month.

Thanks. There are a few good campsites up on the ridge away from the trail that are worth checking out.

Just finished it for the second time over the weekend. Can confirm the steepness of those hills does not translate on camera. Great video!

Thanks so much. Those steep ridges make the hike interesting.

After using both apps for the trail, can you recommend one of them to use for ERL?
    Thanks
    Alex
Ps: do they show water and campsite distance from wherever you are at?

Well I cannot say we completely used both apps. The far out app was so off at one point we quit using it and just used AllTrails. Could have been user error on our part. So I’d recommend using AllTrails but I’m sure there are others that have had success with other apps.
If you download the map and the waypoints you can get info on water and campsites. Not the clearest on the mobile app imo.
Lots of nice campsites on the southern and south eastern part of the loop.

OK, I'll take your advice and go with alltrails! I haven't used any of the hiking apps before, the two years I hiked on the AT we just used a paper book-thingy lol, but it would tell you how far the water sources were from different locations.
I downloaded four hiking apps..Alltrails, Farout, onX backcountry, and Gaia.. and I have just tried to decide which one to pay for by looking through the free info. But I honestly didn't have a great feeling about any of them.
      Thanks again
      Alex

@@arkansasalex7288 I did pay for the AllTrails+. Primarily because it allowed me to download the maps and use the GPS on my iPhone.
I can’t say much about the other apps just that AllTrails worked for me.
      Happy Hiking.
