- Tips to help you conceal inconsistencies and achieve a smooth, straight and flawless silicone application easily!
Have you tried to silicone something and failed miserably? It’s nothing to be ashamed of- we all start there. It’s incredibly sticky (by design), which can make application a nightmare. Oh, and if you get it on a surface you didn’t intend to, good luck getting it off.
The bottom line is, siliconing can be difficult- but it doesn’t have to be! We’ll show you how using a high quality silicone (like the Translucent White Premium Silicone we recommend by DAP) and making a few small technique changes, you can achieve a perfect silicone application just like the pros!

what kind of tape is that?
Doesn’t really matter👍 any painters tape
some low tack maybe, and go buy a fresh roll.
Sometimes the roll's glue gets old and it leaves glue residue on the wall, or worse yet the tape tears while you're pulling it off from the tile or wall.
When you don't want to make mistakes due to prep work, best to buy a fresh roll and test it if you really want to be extra safe. It only takes a few minutes to see how the tape behaves and it's better than cursing when the tape rips and screws up your sweet bead you were so psyched about a second earlier.
But that's just me. I don't like surprises like that. 👍🏻
I find if used tape
Removing tape leaves I little lip
That’s a common issue, for sure! To eliminate that, apply a thinner bead of silicone and remove more of it when smoothing with either a tool or your finger. This should eliminate the ‘lip’ 👍
