    Your entire series is absolutely brilliant. I am a First Generation South African of Indian Origin. I speak Hindi, Urdu and Tamil. However, most South African Indians no longer speak any Indian Language. So your hard work is lost in translation as a result of the fact that you do not have subtitles. Most of my non-Indian friends also would find your work very engaging, but I sat interpreting your first episode for them. far too much hard work. Please subtitle your work so that I can share it more widely.

    Excellent presentation! Surprisingly, I read some of the events mentioned here in a 2014 novel “Full Circle” by an unknown Indo-American later published under a new title “ Full Circle Yuletide in Patna “ by Turning Point India, NOIDA.
    One event that took place In Danapur Cantonment was on 25 July 1857. 7th and 40th Bengal Native Infantry battalions were ordered to assemble in drill square with their rifles and percussion caps. The secret order issued by Commander in Chief General Anson was to disarm them. However, Maj Gen Lloyd, who respected Indian soldiers, ordered the soldiers to surrender only the bundles of percussion caps. The soldiers refused to do even that, as it amounted to the distrust of loyal soldiers and insults. Gen. Lloyd ordered the 10th Foot Regiment to open fire on the assembled Indian soldiers of the 7 and 20 BNI. That was one of the bloodiest episodes of mass killing of Indian soldiers of Bengal Native Army.

    Excellent, your research is praiseworthy, as always. In my school days, 60 years back, this incident was known as " sepoy mutiny," later termed as " freedom struggle". A movement , based on religious superstition , has no support either from learned Indians or from common man. Because everyone has different goals. But none of them has the aim of total freedom of the nation. Sorry, this platform is not meant for elaborate discussion.

    Calling this mutiny is grave injustice to our freedom fighters like Mangal Pande and Tataya Tope. 1857 was First War of Independence.

      There were no Bengalis in Bengal regiment. Those were majorly Rajputs along with Brahmins from UP & Bihar region. Those soldiers were very ritualistic Hindu. Go read British historians description about them. The finest tallest men they had seen in all the world were those soldiers.

  • @himaandagar
    @himaandagar 2 года назад

    sir there is an argument that should we consider those ruler who fought in 1857 as "freedom fighter" as they were just fighting for thier own kingdom and have no objective to throw British out of india or there was no demand of Independence, on the other side the nationalist thinking came into being after French Revolution(1789-1799) but no prevalent in India during 1850s.When western education forced on us in early 1850s moreover after the efforts of LAL BAL PAL and many other Intelligestia promoted the nationalist consiousness then only DEMAND OF FREEDOM ignited. Can you please explain this sir in your own views.

    explanations are mostly based on britishers point of you as documentation is maintained by britishers so definitely they will write it, in their own way ignoring all the crimes and discriminations they made towards indians.

    Out of 36 Hindu soldiers who revolted in Meerut, 34 were Rajputs, their names are still written in a wall, it was these Rajput & Brahmin soldiers of Ganga Belt who won the India for British. British historians have noted those Rajputs were the finest men they had seen anywhere in world, they were taller than even Europeans.
    And it was the rajput zamindars of Ganga belt along with soldiers who led from the front in the mutiny, after the mutiny was controlled by British, they took away 6 lakh arms, 2 thousand canons & destroyed the fortified havelis from these mainly Rajput zamindars, and the biggest landholders zamindars lost lots of land & arms holding rights leading to the emergence of other caste group zamindars who were loyal to British

      Thank you for this insightful comment. You may find it astonishing to read, ‘Full Circle Yuletide in Patna’ published by Turning Point India NOIDA in which its Book Two gives full details of the revolt and the parts played by Rajput and Poorabiya Brahmins in the War of Independence. The novel was first published in 2014 long before this presentation.
