  • Google Sheets instructions:
Go to "Tools" in the menu bar, then select "Script Editor". This will open a new tab. In that new Script Editor page go to "Publish" in the menu bar and select "Deploy as web app...". This will open a dialog box. At the bottom of the box where it asks "Who has access to the app" select "Anyone, even anonymous" (it's the last option in the drop down). Then click the blue button to publish and copy the URL at the top of that dialog box. Paste that URL in your Tilt app on your smartphone or tablet then uncheck and check the box just below again (it's easiest to email it to yourself rather than type it into that field). You should get a reading in "Sheet1" (tab at the bottom of the google sheets you just created). Go to the "Reports" tab at the bottom of your google sheet and select the color of your Tilt for the dropdown in cell B2.
Edit: I have discovered that the hydrometer will post data to the cloud every 15 minutes, using a dedicated smart phone or tablet.

Thanks! Using my new Tilt for the first time tomorrow. This was very useful to give me an idea of what to expect and a visual of how to setup logging to Google Sheets.

why SG going down 1.003- 0.885 (min7:47) was the hydrometer moved? do you also have the option to display the readings in Plato?

Christian N. I think it was a calibration error on my part. I don't think it displays in Plato, but you might be able to convert it with a formula function on Google Sheets

Interesting. Do you know how the Tilt actually measures SG in a wort solution?

      Neil Francis I do not.

Ok - spent some time looking how these work. Its using an accelerometer sensor inside the unit which is cleverly designed to just barely float upright in pure water as shown in your video. So it will obviously float much higher in the wort. As the wort ferments and gets less dense it starts to sink and up-end. Measure the output angles from the accelerator and do a bit of maths and you'll get the SG. Neat.

I used my Tilt for the first time in a brew I have in primary right now. Testing in water the SG was spot on. When I put the Tilt in my beer, it read 1.234 the entire fermentation. Pretty disappointed and will probably return it.

Travis McDuff don't give up that easily. Talk with the company or troubleshoot online and get it running. It's a really great product. I love mine. It allows me to save time by not guessing when to check SG. One of my beers fermented completely in THREE days man. I was going to wait two weeks to check but there was no need.

Sorry. It's a 3d printer. I should make a better video. It's been long overdue.

It might have been more useful if you'd figured out how to use it before making the video, man.
