First.

Had same issues with mine. The small red starter wire I removed some from harness and soldered in new section. Not easy to get wire stripper in there. some corrosion got in the wire, and it took several tries to solder it together, had to use a lot of solder flux. On mine the black plastic wire harness tubes crumbled away, and i am replacing with new ones, wrapped in electrical tape, just like from the factory, to protect the wires from weather and heat. Not sure where you can even get new wiring harnesses, but that would be tough to install, without pulling off the intake manifold. On my starter there are 3 wires going to one post on starter, and one small wire going to small middle post on starter. I figure the small post wire is the ignition switch wire, the big and small red wires go to alternator, but I cant figure where the 3rd wire goes to. just replace as best you can, and try to protect the finished product. The new wire tubes may get burned or beaten down over time, but will protect the wires.

Metal bits on the magnetic are normal for transfer cases manual transmission automatic tranmission on the other hand don't like the Metal in them but that normal when 2 gears are grinding together it's gonna make something I would be worried if it came out clean lol but yeah that all good 👍 looks good from my house slap that sucker in there an run it it till it give up the goose

Normally what happens on a gm transfer case is the fluid is run low because it isn’t checked. Then the chain gets slack and it rubs a hole in the case.
