I get sore throats all the time...But THIS. First time experiencing this at 23 years old and my gosh it is a living hell. Currently on day 7. The best thing you can do guys is buy numbing spray from your local pharmacy. Numbing spray and Ibuprofen. And you just have to wait it out. I have asthma too so night times are unbearable as I stop breathing as soon as I fall asleep and then wake up choking. I honestly would not wish this on my worst enemy. Good luck out there man, you'll need it

Had enough fevers and flu like symptoms in the past to be able to tell you that this sore throat infection is SO painfull. Never had 6 sleepless nights in a row before because of anything.

I went to urgent care and they told me it was a virus and I just needed to let it run it’s course. I had the worst sleep of my life 3 nights in a row. I was on the verge of tears and left for the ER at 2 in the morning. I have NEVER had a sore throat like that in my life

Bro same. I got to the doctor cuz it was SO BAD. never in my life had I wished for a quick death during sickness but this caused me to want to meet god lmao. I couldn't sleep for days and any kind of swallow was like I had to swallow a bunch of needles. My face was completely swollen and it was hard to just breathe. I didn't have a fever tho. I honestly never get a fever from any kind of sickness (don't know why tho). I went to the doc and without any swab tests they told me it was probably viral not bacterial lol. The only thing that helps me now is ibuprofen 800 mg and 1000 mg of paracetamol with a quetiapine 25 mg just to sleep!! Wtf. My joints hurt like shid and my jaw hurts so much. Its almost my birthday soon yippee ya yay. Fck me forreal. Wishing my fellow sufferers of the "swallow a bag o needles sickness" much luck❤

So, here’s the deal with my tonsil infection journey. I’m on day seven and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I’ve hit up two hospitals, gotten jabbed with injections twice, and I’m on a cocktail of paracetamol and antibiotics. Honestly, your girlfriend’s mood swings are nothing compared to this.Even with three different antibiotics, these microscopic Thors and Hulks are still wreaking havoc. Nights are the worst-you’ll be having nightmares about your ex, sweating, parched, and unable to swallow even a drop of water unless you pop some more pills. Eating? Forget about it. It's a struggle.So, brace yourself for the worst. Load up on hot water, antibiotics, painkillers, cold meds, and throat spray. Stay strong and keep fighting. I’ll let you know how long it takes for this torture to end!

After that it got progresivelly worse and worse again, my doctor prescribed me naproxen sodium 550 mg 3x a day which I don't think helped much. 2 days later I was feeling better cuz of antibiotics and now no problems with throat but severe GI issues. Doctor told me I am lucky to have been able to breathe on my own it was that bad
I just had a cold that was basically only slight fatigue and a sore throat. The throat is healing and doesn’t hurt anymore (just gets clogged sometimes and I have to clear it) but suddenly my body wants to develop a cough + runny nose. Idk wtf I contracted but it’s working backwards
Sore throat will forever be the worst symptom. Your throat feels swollen, just swallowing saliva is agonizing, you drink 5 bottles of water just to try and relieve it. Don’t even get me started on the lump you feel when you swallow food. Then, it starts triggering your gag reflex and you either A. Feel like you’re gonna throw up with each swallow, or B. You end up throwing up. My larynx don’t deserve this kind of abuse ✊🏾😔

And you try not to swallow to often but then your body is like SWALLOW and you can't help it, then with all the swallowing you end up having air and it's just a painful cycle 🤦

I had bacterial Strep throat. The difference is with bacterial you will actually bleed. Blood may be spit up or come through the nose. Happened to me

I suffer every winter even though I don't take any cold drinks or ice creams.. I was 13y/o when I got tonsillitis for the 1st time after that every winter I got it🥺.. it's hard.. I need permanent cure for this. I have swallow gland around ear it happens every time.. having horse voice but no fever or calcium deposits on my tonsil.

I remember when I was 17, I got literally the worst throat infection of my life. I couldn't talk, breathe properly or even eat because it would hurt too much. Later, my doc told me that I had a dual infection of both viral and bacterial strains. I really hope nobody gets that ever, it's the worst 🥲

an update, recovered after 2 weeks since the infection. Drinking hot tea or swallowing soft crush ice helped me a lot. Aside from that, I lost a lot of weight about 10kg.

The feeling is sharp, I don’t mind the pain..I gargled with warm water and coughed some mucus out which helped a bit! I hope im not getting sick, my room hasn’t been dusted or cleaned in general in a while so I needa get that done soon but I don’t want to I’m lazy

Apart from medicines, I've been taking honey in lukewarm water in the morning, 3 time gargles with betadine gargle and fluid based diet. I've just started to feel normal.. You gotta let it past, it will take at least 10 days for that!...post that you'll have a huge gratitude for just being able to eat and drink normally 😁

Still, one of the worst cases I had did have no swellings at lymph nodes, had heavy cough, no dots on tonsilla area, and no fever. Purely viral? Nay, purely bacterial, and ended up with severe pneumonia.

I've only got one tonsil that is sore which is the only one that has crypts in / on it? I was able to push out stone like things out of my tonsil. That would be tonsil stones. Those things you pushed out are tonsil stones. I used to get them a lot and they would hurt my tonsils too. I had my tonsils removed and i obviously do t get that anymore but now I think I’ve got some kind of strep and it’s soooo painful

It depends from person to person. Sometimes, people end up having a dual-infection i.e., having a viral and bacterial infection both at the same time :')

This is not entirely accurate since some viral infections can and should be treated with antivirals like Valacyclovir for Herpes Simplex, Varicella Zoster Virus and Epstein Barr virus, and with Valgancyclovir for Citomegalovirus.

Group A Streptococcus is the only one treated with oral antibiotics as that specific group is known to cause rheumatic fever(inflammation of heart and blood vessels). Yes group A is present almost everywhere but there is a need to treat it. If you're ever treated for strep and your strep comes back negative then youre being treated for one that isnt group a which is what the test tests for. This in turn can cause antibiotic resistance as its not actually needed and your body can clear it on its own.

You can’t. Bacterial infections should be treated with an antibiotic RX, STAT. Failure to do so can lead to further complications and even have life threatening complications. Visiting your primary care physician is best.
